I'm guessing Come Fly With Me is too hard for you because you're trying to kill the Nightkin. You don't need to (and from a design standpoint aren't really expected to).

Umm,not sure what you mean...guess i`ll talk to the guy again but that`s what the quest so far wants me to do...

I have been playing the PS3 version of this game for a few days now and have had no crashes (60 gb Japanese launch PS3).

However, I experience framerate stuttering all the time and in my last session I was getting some really wierd distortion of graphics around Nipton. I also had locals freaking out and running away from me in one town (shouting watch out and crap like that). I had to chase down one person so I could talk to her and finish a quest.

That said, the game is extremely fun. I loved Fallout 3 and I am really digging this one. The new crafting options are awesome and hardcore mode makes things really interesting. I can see why some reviewers looked past the bugs and gave the game decent reviews.

I think the stuttering problem is inherent of the Fallout 3 engine, I get it as well on the PC from time to time and my vid card isnt even running at full capacity. I have also had the AI spazz out on me. Ill fast travel sometimes and they will scream and run for a few moments.

Aw, my companion's face isn't loading properly. Now it's just a floating mouth/eyes with a hat on top.

I'll order him to stay outdoors so he doesnt scare the locals.

From the time I've spent with it, New Vegas is the very definition of "flawed but brilliant". Maybe it'll just be "brilliant" by the time the patches and mods are finished. I'd like to wait for that day but can't help myself! BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME AND I WANT TO PLAY IT NOW NOW NOWNOWNOWNOW

Don't bother talking to the ghoul, he is a fucking idiot and quite clearly insane. He thinks they are demons. He can't help you.

The quest says "get rid of the Nightkin". Look around in the basement and see if you can find a better way to figure that situation out. They are a bunch of long-legged, pissed off Mariposians that are invisible and swing rebar clubs; I personally wouldn't put direct combat high on my list of priorities.

Wrong answer. Worth picking up now. PC version if possible. Between the .dll fix, interface mod, and scenery mods out, shit's cash. Worth $50, of course better from the bargain bin, but no reason not to pick up now. On consoles, I wouldn't blame you if you waited.

I went to a new room and his face loaded correctly...weird since I kept reloading my old save and that didn't work. Phooey, I liked my mutant companion. :lol

I assume you meant he beat the main quest, which isn't surprising. I doubt he did every quest the game had on offer.

Done with the game until they fix the save corruptions, second play through and 6 hours in, all my saves are corrupt, this is the second time this happened. Sigh!

Where does
ED-E go if you fire it? I wanted to pick up Veronica, so I fired ED-E and it said it went back to Primm, but I can't find it when I fast travel back.

I recently finished Fallout 3 again just to get in the mood for this game. But New Vegas isn't doing it for me. For some reason I don't like the overworld; I like the Fallout 3 map better. Yeah I know the F3 map was kinda big with not so much content on it, but that was part of the great atmosphere. Also, I don't like the super strong animals which make some areas no-go, like those fucking mutated flies. What the fuck is up with that. I know this was standard in the original Fallouts, but I don't like it.

Then these annoying bugs which make the game crash (PC version) or unplayable. I miss polish. Bethesda did a better job at that than Obsidian with this one.

And everything else too... The quests, the story, the characters; it's nothing new, it's all been done before. I think it's a rather mediocre game, but maybe that's because I looked forward to this so much.

Edit - And what's up with Karma anyway? I mean, sometimes you get punished for steeling things from raiders? You rob a thief, is that a bad thing? Also, when you kill everyone in one area, which does not affect your Karma, how come picking up the stuff is marked as stealing? Doesn't make sense, especially when the people who owned the stuff were fucking evil and are now dead.

Not really enjoying it. Tired of people not helping because I don't pass a skill check. Didn't care for fallout 3 so I should have went with my gut and passed on this. Feels like 90% of the time I'm just walking from place to place with little to nothing to do. Bugs are a pain too, got weird one when I sneak my arms don't and I can't see shit, not that it maters because if you don't use vats u can hit anything anyways.

Oh well, fable 3 hits in a few days.

well not really...yet
So, is the Quest "I put a spell on you" bugged or something?

I got on
the monorail, defused and removed the bomb, but it stills blows up once it leaves...

What the hell, game. For some reason, I can no longer
send companions to the Lucky 38.
The dialogue prompt doesn't show; I either tell them to stick around or they go back to where I found them. I think this started around when I got the 360 patch, but that could be coincidence.

Not game-breaking but sort of frustrating for no good reason.

9/10 NeoGAFfers don't understand statistics. The other 3/10 don't care.
Seems this game uses allot less level scaleing for encounters, as I ran into a group of Cazadors and got the crap kicked out of me, they also killed Ed-E in seconds.

Then after that I found a Vault and got my arsed kicked by Golden Geckos, I was around level 8 at the time, and the guide says Cazadors are level 18, and Golden Geckos are level 12.

I found Fallout 3 to be vastly more enjoyable too. Everything about New Vegas feels like some fan-made TC. Poor quest designs, awful interior building layouts, dull and unbelievably verbose dialogue that makes me feel like the writers are masturbating on me...it's just really disappointing.

It is extremely bugged. A lot of people have reported that happening, and I've got issues where
the quest is finished but didn't fully mark itself as finished; the traitor is still there and still goes to the radio tower every night, and I can actually offer to team up with him to blow up the monorail... which has already been blown up. This fucks up another questline, so sucks.

Most are just leaving it unfinished until a patch comes out; I did mess around with it on an old save and was able to successfully finish everything off by
stealthing into the tower, eavesdropping on the full call, then pickpocketing the activation code and fleeing before he saw me. When I defused that time, no explosion, quest finished, etc.

But, yeah, just avoid it for now if you can.

Yeah I was just asploring and minding my own business when I entered some random mine full of giant mutant flies that destroyed me and Veronica within seconds. I was lvl 11 or so and I still didn't stand a chance. I look forward to blasting their heads off in several levels.

New Vegas definitely has a steeper curve in the beginning. Take a wrong turn and you can run into Death Claws near Goodsprings. I think part of the issue is we are using characters which are back at level 1, versus hulking beasts in Fallout 3 through a 100 hour play through. I agree about the scarcity of the game world density being an appeal for Fallout 3, but also happy New Vegas isn't a retread in this apsect. I enjoy the difference of having more things to do packed into a tighter game world.

My friend beat the game in 20 hours

You can beat Fallout 3 in like 10 to 12 hours if you just do the main quest. But if you are just finising the main quest for these games you are doing it wrong.

I do wish that solving situations through dialogue relied more on choosing the appropriate phrase instead of just selecting the one that your speech level allows. I sunk a lot of points into charisma and speech so I'd have more dialogue options available, but instead it just gives me the option to click a 'win' phrase. I'd prefer to use my wits to persuade someone, and for there to be a chance of me blowing it by picking the wrong phrase.

Small complaint, though. At least it offers some varied and flexible approaches to situations instead of the superficial crap that most choice games offer.

This is what is sooooosweet about the game! This very fact alone makes Morrowind better than Oblivion IMO.

Is it me or do most of the npc's in this game look ok, they seem to avoided the fugly of Oblivion and Fallout 3, I suppose one of the guys at Obsidian was a fan of the face-lift mods heh.

just turned the game on (360) and had an update, anyone know what it fixes?

from Obsidian's statement yesterday:

On consoles, we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games. We are absolutely looking into this bug now, along with other reports of save game corruption. It is our highest priority right now that we find out what is causing it. In the meantime, we recommend you save often, and revert to an older save if this occurs.

As far as general memory and instability, you should see an improvement once the patch goes live, but we are continuing to work on this based on user feedback.

I spoke to Benny but my speech wasn't high enough to force him to go up to the room first, so I did some crap and came back to see him not in the lobby. His bodyguards just say "Wonder where Benny's gone off to?" where'd the bastard go?

I'm still in the process of decided how to handle the
Mr. House
situation.

I still have the option to destroy him, which I might do. I don't really know what all my options are but I hope there is a way that I can just kill destroy him and bring down the whole system. I don't want to choose any of the legions and do their bitch work. Hopefully the game is flexible enough to give me to choice to say fuck 'em all.

How did you manage to never find a flamethrower in Fallout 3? Didn't think it was possible to miss them, especially not when super mutants had them all the time.

I have no idea! I did give up on it before I finished it, so that might have something to do with it :lol

Seriously though I got pretty far in that game (the quests in the washington monument). I figured I would have come across a flame thrower by that point. Never happened though. I never found a super mutant with one either. They had a fuck ton of rocket launchers though!

Pretty much.

Sucks for you guys who are not into this kinda thing, but understand this is pretty much what many RPG fans have been begging for, and have directly criticised Bethesda's last two games for failing at.

Role playing, traditionally and in its most absolute form, is really about two things; creating a character you want to be, and then having a gameworld react to that player. The former is important for the obvious reason that the less stats and abilities you can pick from the less you can customise your character. The latter is equally important as the less the world truly reacts to the character you created, the less important the character you created is. If the world doesn't really react.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are all about holding the player's hand regardless of the choices they make. They allow you to craft any character you want, and then offer a nearly identical world over and over. Whether you play as a good guy, or a bad guy, a thief, a loner, a gunner, a fist fighter, a doctor, a scientist, an idiot, a murderer, a savior; whatever you pick, the game world never truly reacts to your decisions.

If you're not going to be a doctor, dont expect to pass doctor skill checks. If you're not going to dump skills into intelligence and science, dont get shitty when you cant build fusion reactors. Dont want to waste points on charisma and speech? You will suffer conversational penalties. That is role playing, and the way role playing should be.

Something good?

Compare the dialogue in New Vegas to the dialogue in Planescape Torment. The latter is just as wordy but they actually have interesting things to say and most of the characters you meet have unique voices. In contrast, the dialogue in New Vegas isn't interesting and it very seldom sets up things like motivation and character development -- it's just there to be skipped once you realize how dull it is.

So I was doing a mission that required me to talk to a friendly scientist. When I walked up to him, he randomly yelled "Ah ha!" and started shooting my robot buddy. What's even stranger is that he was cool with me, he was still recognized as "friendly".
