Diggin' Io's jacket.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like she'll actually wear it in the game itself. Bummer.

Edit: Also I hope we get to select our skills again during fusion. And that we get a Compendium.

I can't say anything about the compendium, but the one demon status screen implies the same 3-3-1 skill breakdown (3 active, 3 passive, 1 Racial) that the original used.

Interface = Dark Blue! It looks nice.

And, oh, hey, reused maps/backgrounds. Not so nice.

I don't get the "too fast"/"too soon" complaints. It will be ~2.5 years since the original was released, which is longer than the the time between

Persona 3 -> Persona 4
DDS1 -> DDS2 (duh)
EO2 -> EO3
and about equivalent to the time between Raidou 1 and Raidou 2, or Persona 1 -> Persona 2 IS.

The main girl's design is much more tolerable than Yuzu's, which is good. Big mammies, though.

Uh, and I guess I'm looking forward to the game.

:lol this is exactly the same as my reaction.

Nice character designs.

Compendium and animated sprites please.
Unless they go back to not letting you have multiples of a demon, having the compendium would kind of break the game.

for a second I thought the main character
was MC from the first one in his law ending. This dude even has the typical LAW color scheme..

fuck dis shit I'm going chaos as usual

The screenshots show the return of the broken-as-shit Elemental Dance skills. I was kind of hoping those would get dumped.

Really wish Atlus would get more on the "let me pick MC's sex" train, though. If there's any one series I think would be perfect for more gender equality in that regard, it's MegaTen. (Or maybe I'm just over-estimating the amount of female fans I think the series has.)
shutup before you spoil all of the extra content in overclocked

personally I don't give a shit, especially if they're mute

Well, I have two responses to that!

(A) Characters being mute is even more reason they could be of either gender, because they have less specific personality
(B) Stop giving me mute characters Japan. It's dumb and you're dumb for doing it.

Not really, remember that pretty much all the really good demons are unique and you can only have one of them anyway.

But it further immerses you in the game. The main character is totally you (unless you are female)!
More importantly it saves the writer some trouble.

So are the jackets supposed to be like angel wings like the protagonist from Devil Survivor 1's headphones were like devil horns.
I hope DeSu 3 has a penis shaped hat to represent Mara.

I know the angle you're taking here kid, and I know what Japanese developers want me to believe, but I felt far more immersion via my customized Shephard that I have in most JRPGs for years. I also laugh at the idea that a mute character helps me put myself in the game when I then have no control over that character's looks, background, history, personality (in non-spoken ways), love interest, etc. etc.

You're talking as if mute main characters were the norm in modern Japanese games, shidoshi. Outside of Dragon Quest, Megaten and Pokémon, they're pretty rare in relatively story-driven games.

I was being sarcastic, in case that wasn't obvious. ;) I'm not so fond of mute main characters myself. I recently played Mass Effect for the first time and making (relatively) my own kickass female Commander Shepard was a nice experience, though the customization was lackluster.

At the very least, it gives you an incentive to have your MC be a useful magic-wielding power house as opposed to SJ where the MC completely sucked and was essentially one big game over button in the later fights.

Huh? In Strange Journey, you could just equip him with the Stone Gun or whatever it is and one-shot most enemies. That, and the pieces of Phys/Dark resist, made him pretty damn durable and useful.

I'm not trying to imply it's gamebreaker for me, but I will say it wouldn't make a difference especially if I'm made to play a mute female protagonist.

which is probably the same for the main megaten audience in japan

which is also probably why gender stuff is regulated to extra edition crap

and I for one enjoy my mute characters. Most RPGs already have characters with full background crap. Megaten is hardcore simply because it sticks to the old formula. I'm happy it's still like that

I had fair luck with the stone gun, but for the most part, my other demons were taking care of things faster than the MC ever could. That, and the higher armor w/ Phys/Dark resist didn't really help much when end bosses started doing high end triple & quadruple digit damage.

And I think the pretty fair chance that you would get screwed with his randomized stats (I know a few people that had an insane amount of Luck and abysmal everything-else) really does play into things.

I haven't checked out DS yet, was thinking of getting DS O. Is there any game that they are similar to?

Like Persona 3 and 4 get alot of Love, and while 3 was fun I burnt out on it pretty quick, and haven't even started on 4.

Is this anything like those games at all?

So the theme of the Devil Survivor series is "sticking together with your friends, and showing your true strengths in the face of a great crisis". Seems like they're going to approach the series as the SRPG disaster themed SMT series. That's fine by me, because I really liked that approach to the narrative in the first game. But considering the focus on it being a national crisis... I wonder it there is any impact on the content in the game after recent events in Japan...

I hope there aren't any "leap across the battlefield and save the idiotic AI" missions in this one, or at least fewer of them.

So pumped for this one. Devil Survivor is my favorite game for the DS, hands down. I remember waking up one day, reaching over to my DS, turning it on, turning it off, and going to bed. A whole day gone on that game, I've never done that before.

...I think I'm going to start a new game in DS1 this week just to help ease the pain of not being able to afford Radiant Historia. Such a good game.
