Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

gamexplain and also IGN rewind did a quite good job at explaining some of the aspects in the trailers that can be disregarded at a short glance. overall i really like it, although both analysis were more FE heavy then SMT heavy

I haven't watched it... but I'm just going to wait till E3 or whenever they show off more to evolve my opinion on the game. I was hyped because SMTxFE, I guess I was kind of hoping for more of a Fire Emblem setting and world, but I'm still intrigued because it's a 3D RPG. Idk if I'll be down with some of the stuff (M rating doesn't help my confidence) but I'm still very much looking forward to whatever they show off next and in the future.
Well the whole point of this game was because IS wanted FE in modern times.

Heh, I was imagining an open world Fire Emblem RTS RPG type thing. I know no one makes games like that anymore though... so I was prepared... for my dreams to be shattered...

Damn, apparently my avatar was inappropriate :'(
I still can't quite find one I really like though. I'll have to placehold till I find something Peachy enough.

Just watched the game explain video, and from just watching the trailer I completely missed that there were portals that the pegusus girl came out of. The two dimensions theory holds weight since the director said that they didn't show off the fire emblem part of the game in the trailer (I forget the exact words, but I remember it being something like that). And, yeah, I think the singer is the 4th girl in the art work based on the panties.

Does anyone have a translation of what the song's lyrics are, or even just what the pegusus girl says at the end? Something I'll never let you do?
From other pages of the thread:
Reincarnation by Kiria:

I want to destroy
Will you be able to heal me from loneliness, from pain
And all things I had cherished
(Reincarnation, Realization, Reincarnation)
I want to disappear

Sounds of a city that never sleeps, the melancholy of these fake smiles
Real intentions, sometime, somewhere, though we can't see them
Even if nobody speaks about their worries, we know about them

I want to destroy
These courageous acts I had cherished
But then, I won't be able to be honest
Even if I'm lost or in trouble, if you ever ask me
At least, I'll destroy this pain and loneliness
(Reincarnation, Realization, Reincarnation)
I want to reincarnate

The girl says something along the lines of "I'm never letting you escape!" or "You're not getting away from me!"

You know, I've been thinking. What if the reason why that green haired girl's reincarnation is so hard to identify is because we are assuming that she must be a Fire Emblem reincarnation? Just because the other three have clear parallels doesn't mean that every character will. I think that's the main reason why we don't get that clear a look at her, because her very presence spoils an SMT plot point.

I mean think about it, her singer class clashes with the rest of the FE parties (the closest comparison is the Dancer but I don't think that's what they were going for), her weapon is a microphone, she uses spells that aren't usually assorted with Fire Emblem. I think she's a reincarnation of a SMT character and I have a theory on who that character is: Lilith.

Now, I'll admit, this is a stretch but when the girl is in her eyepatch form, she does share some semblance to her true form from SMT IV. Instead of black stuff covering an eye, she has an eyepatch but the association with black seems to be pulling in that direction to me. It's a stretch, I'll admit, but her character could be the SMT link we're all searching for.

Yeah, I agree
that that's a stretch.

Plot twist: They are reincarnation of both a FE character and a SMT character ! ¨Problem solved !

I don't know what I'm talking about

I guess that could be one way to put Mara in the game.

I'm not entirely sure how you'd go about reconciling their somewhat different designs, though...

I've thought about her being some kind of SMT reference too, although I don't think she resembles anything from that side either, visually.

Still, she's the singer of Reincarnation (which could easily be translated to "Tensei"), she uses ice magic in the trailer, a magic type from SMT (FE has a blizzard spell and a couple of others, but they're considered wind magic) and she might be the one in the "One of Millennium" poster too. So, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of deeper association.

Regarding the Lilith idea, the word "Lilith" is associated with a nocturne bird, which I guess could explain the black feather motif that her eyepatch outfit has, even though SMT-proper hasn't given Lilith a bird-like design before. Still, that's a big shot in the dark.

Seems like there's a rough translation out for the song now. Got it from this video's description, and the video itself is another trailer analysis that picks up on a few things GameXplain and IGN didn't (though I think some posters here picked up on them too).

Lyrics:
Those lyrics seem to point toward something of it being a simulation.

yo i don't care what anyone says, unless this is a bait and switch, SMT x FE was cancelled and replaced with Persona x Fire Emblem, and I'm totally okay with that.

What of the SMT elements we already see, such as the characteristic ruined Tokyo?
Not including the fact that this is one trailer.

bruh, this is what i got out of that 1 trailer: persona. Hell, I was convinced it was a Persona spinoff till I was told otherwise by Iwata.

I'm 100% down on that, like I have no issues with this direction at all. I'm totally on the PxFE hype train. Can't wait.

The second Pegasus Knight we see (blue hair) looks awfully familiar to that new girl from Fire Emblem: If. Weird though, because she's a dancer.

EDIT:

The party member portrait matches her art.
They also wear the same panties.

Oh I know,
I just didn't want to be the first one to point it out ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

yo, you say replace but I say merge: gimme dat SMT x FE x Persona.

I won't listen anything else.

Man that GameXplain Analysis was so fucking good, they knocked it out of the park. I went from not caring about this game at all with the initial reveal, to getting really interested with the direct trailer, to looking up Wii U prices on Amazon with this analysis.

It's that good? Okay, I think I'll check it out now. Thanks for the heads up.

I just saw it pointed out elsewhere...

This shot is basically a compilation of the SMT elements or references in the trailer.

The spell used by Aversa uses SMT's power up symbol. The wind element icon is actually SMT's force icon, and the spell being used there is a variation of "Wind Gust" from SMT. The lance attack right afterwards is a variation of Lunge, which is an SMT attack skill. The ice element icon isn't SMT's, but Ice is only an element in SMT in the first place, while in FE it's just part of wind.

Ah, my new favourite image related to the game! And the ice element icon isn't too far off SMT's or Persona's.

Wind Gust variation?

Yeah this GameXplain video does make me a lot more interested than I initially was. Looking forward to seeing more of it soon hopefully!

Wind Gust variation?

Every attack at that point of the video has an extra bit added in the beginning referencing the previous attack. The lighting bolt isn't just "El Thunder", but something like"Following Bow, El Thunder", then the wind attack is "Following Thunder, Wind Gust" and the next one is "Following Wind, Blizzard" and so on. GameXplain speculates that it's a chain attack of some kind, although they don't mention their names.

I'll admit, I expected something a bit more 'serious' and darker... when I think about both the FE and SMT series. But I don't mind that high-contrast, ultramodern hip style they are going for in this game by any means. Definitely on my radar and always good to see high-budget console RPGs this day and age...

Yep, and who knows maybe there's more than meets the eye and we still get a darker (at least thematically) RPG. There's already signs it's quite possible.

Glad that they didn't choose glasses in the end. There's a translation of the blog on siliconera
talking about bust sizes
.
