Piss filter and particle effects, check.

Amazing that with all that money they still can’t be bothered to find a better director than Yates. Deathly Hallows part 1 was the only HP movie he directed that I liked.

Wait, Mads Mikkelsen is the new Grindelwald!? I had no idea.

It sucks what they did to Depp, but Mikkelsen is pretty much the perfect replacement, tbh.

Yeah, I don’t really understand it either. This is one of WB’s biggest IPs, you’d think they put more effort into these movies.

Guess harry potter has to carry this movie.

Honestly i saw the first one, it was a bore fest and the second one was just pokemon or something no clue what that was supposed to mean.

They are better of moving further with harry potter and the old crew doing more stuff.

Fantastic beasts: The gay secrets of dumbledore.

Can't wait for all those juicy secrets about his relationship with grindlewald to be revealed, it's not just a boggart in his closet lol. Rowling revealed some of it in the book but we never got to find out exactly what they were getting upto, probably wand fights in the showers.

took me until the end of that video to realize that THE REAL VIDEO IS APPARENTLY COMING MONDAY. right? okay.

I'm happy to watch new HP stuff, I dunno it's a dumb feelgood thing.. I recently rewatched the radcliffe and co films and it wasn't as bad as some other similar efforts

Harry Potter ended with The Goblet of Fire.

Convince me otherwise.

And as for the spin-off films, it doesn't help when you unjustly fire one of the better actors in it.

I have to admit the final film totally fucked up the final battle and ruined how cool the battle was in the book, in the film they were fighting alone which really pissed me off. For years everyone only knew parts of what harry had been upto until that final battle in the great hall where everyone students/teachers/aurors everyone finally watched as harry told voldermort how he had royally fucked up and how it was going to end they all got to see that it wasn't just some rumour about harrys ability. Least neville wasn't done a dirty the final battle was where everyone saw just how amazingly cool he was.

Film HP definitely did.
The script, casting and directing in movies 5-8 were terrible, completely failing to catch the essence of the books. Absolutely amateurish for such a big IP and the money they could spend on it. Even if Goblet of Fire strayed a bit from the book and was more a videoclip than a movie, anyone could still understand what's going on. Movies 5-8 absolutely require having read the books to make sense of the events, and they're not good even if you know the story.

The very first scene Goblet of Fire spoils the twist the book is built around.

That Barty Crouch Jr is still alive and is working for Voldemort

It's such a strange choice.

As a big hp fan, these movies are fucking terrible. This will some how have to end up being good (doubt) in order for me to give it the time of day. I am so excited for hogwarts legacy, i really, reallly, really hope they knock it out of the park, its my dream game in many ways. But Its been a shit time to be a harry potter fan for the last ten years as nothing good has come out of that franchise since then

Considering Goblet of Fire was the worst film (best book though), made by a hack/incompetent director, you are incorrect.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first two movie but that's where my love of Harry Potter ends. Prisoner of Azkaban was too dark and lost the innocence of the previous films.

That's the point. The characters grow up and so the movies go away from being just for kids.
Yes I'm fully aware of that, but I wish they could have stretched out the innocence for the third instalment. I would have been content with the trilogy and watch none of the others.

I wasn’t a Harry Potter fan in the slightest but I loved the first two fantastic beasts.
sucks that depp in gone but they can just do another “ not my real face “ deal..

Why such aversion to a darker tone? And they are still plenty fun btw not totally dark.
People are fond of certain things and that's good enough for them. It's not that they dislike the others, they just don't have any interest within them. Same goes for me from Harry Potter 3 onwards.

Zero hype.

The first fantastic beasts movie was enjoyable, but the second one is one of the absolute worst high budget movies I've ever seen. Add to it the shitty firing of Depp and they killed my interest in this franchise.

Full trailer:

“The war of worlds” is going to be the usual 20 people vs 20 people, right?

I don’t think I can explain just how much I hate that filter in all of Yates’ HP movies. There’s sun and color even in gloomy times, you know. No need to make every film look completely homogeneous.

Never really get into this Fantastic Beast series, no matter how I tried. The name and some actors didn't scream connections with the Harry Potter stuff at all, just the typical filler about the magical creatures I feel they try to push over and over and I got not a single interest into it.

Like...the name of the series is Fantastic Beasts yet we have here the "Secrets of Dumbdore". Sounds to me that Fantastic Beasts isn't so confident talking about the magical creatures and have to relly on big names/characters.

This. The new series can't shake off the shackles of Harry Potter. The first film tried to do something a little different, but now it's back to Hogwarts with Dumbadore.

Wonder if they'll be brave and show a flashback of Dumbadore and Grindlewald in a loving relationship. I'm not saying they should show them violently banging like hammer and tongs, but at least make it crystal clear they were lovers.

I thought Depp was really good in 2. I love Mads, but he just doesn't have the same charisma and look as Grindelwald judging from the footage so far. Fuck WB for firing Depp but keeping Heard. Either both get the boot or both stay.

I love anything that has to do with Harry Potter but those Fantastic Beasts movies so far have been really really boring. I'd still watch this movie though.

I grew up reading Harry Potter and generally loved the movies as well. I must have outgrown the series because I couldn't be bothered with Fantastic Beasts. I had heard about them replacing Johnny Depp and I decided to watch this trailer just to see if it would be a clusterfuck. A clusterfuck would be way too entertaining to be compared to this. I actually feel bad for the series and how Mads got roped into this. Hopefully it buys him a nice house somewhere.

I feel like prequel series in general tend to harm their franchises even if they are very lucrative.

A lot. The director didn’t even read to book. The film omitted an absolute ton, and even spoiled the big twist right at the beginning.
You make it sound like the book was something awesome.

Like the entire series, it was decent. But not much more.
