okay i played the game for around 2 hours, i guess i am still in the 'tutorial part'. but i really dont like what i see. everything looks so shiny, not realy plastic shiny (for example like ninja gaiden) but more like silver shiny, really hard to explain. humans and environment looks like that. is it because of the textures? stalker seemed to be more matt in colors for example. i guess i wont bother continue playing it, because that look really disturbs me. does anyone think the same? or am i just weird?:lol

I find the fact that it disturbs you a little disturbing in itself. :| It does have kind of a strange...style. I felt so too. No one really seems to be able to put their finger on it. But once you get out of the jungle and into the plains and rivers and all the amazing vistas you kind of develop an appreciation for it.

oh and is it just me or do the weapons eject the shells at the wrong side? wth is that shit? Ò_ó

A lot of games do that. The rationalization is that it make the weapons more visually interesting if you can see the brass ejecting in front of you.

I wish they would just have the gun on the left side of the screen a bit more so the brass ejects to the right when you're firing from the hip. Most of the time, I'm firing from ironsights so it doesn't really matter I guess. Yeah, it annoys the gun porn fapper in me.

Finished it a few minutes ago. TBH, I'm not even sure what the hell was going on for the last third of the game or so. The ending was pretty lame. No end game either, and I've been going with one save so now I'll have to start over. :/

Oh, and having to fight all your buddies, who thought it would be a good idea to give them five times the health of normal enemies? I tried like ten times and had to lower the difficulty to get through that part.
Damn, you finished it already? I'm at probably 10% right now. I guess I better stop sight seeing and get on with the game :lol So far I've only found 24 of the 221 cases with the diamonds in it. I'm in no rush though really, I'm having fun with the game...

Is that so? And only 10 diamonds? Oh, your so getting bought.

Thanks

Keep in mind it takes up your special slot....or whatever its called. The weapon slot that can hold the rocket launcher, grenade launcher etc. On the bright side it opens up your primary slot for an assault rifle :D

How do you do this? I'm not very far but I never saw an upgrade menu while I played last night.

When you are purchasing weapons, towards the top of the screen there is an arrow you can click to navigate left or right through the menu.

upgrade your marksman ammo. You can get a total of ten shots I think.
The upgrade is still locked for me, I dislike the weapons so much when I started that I chained the weapon shop missions before everything else but I hit some kind of progress halt where I can't get the mission to unlock what looks like the last tier of weapons and upgrades.

Yeah, it will lock them till you progress further enough int he main story.

edit: the hell? Sorry about the Double post. Wireless acting up...

I thought I was in for a world of hurt but instead I got lucky and had a good laugh with this game. I was on the run because a jeep patrolling the area spotted me down the road. So out of desperation I ran a short distance to their patrol area, thinking I'm about to die. I saw two guys about to hop on a jeep of their own,I freaked out and threw a grenade,my aim was off but it rolled near a small shack. The fucking grenade sets off a chain reaction though- there was live ammo sitting in that shack. So I'm hiding out from the other jeep but noticed two guys yelling their asses off as bullets are ricocheting everywhere. Both guys are like WTF and start howling, killing them both.

Oh shit.
:lol

I'm finding the secondary granade launcher to be so powerful and accurate that I don't need a "special" weapon... although the mortar looks very interesting. I just need to find something semi-accurate for a primary weapon. Fucking AK is pissing me off, not a lot of damage... can't shoot straight... small clip. If could switch the Mach10 to primary I would have. The assault rifle with the zoom is good, but I'd rather just have an accurate zoomless fully auto.

Hate to derail a perfectly peaceful thread with one of these, but after the Fallout 3 thing...

Are there any graphical differences between ps3 and 360?

I apologize in advance for asking. Just making sure I pick the best version when I throw down another 60 bucks for a game this Christmas. Reviews make it seem like they're identical, which is a good thing. But I was wondering what the take is there. Gracias.

Just got to the 2nd area. Holy crap there are some pretty visuals there. I had that split second of reality thing happening to me just like when playing certain levels in Call of Duty 4. For a single moment it looks completely real.

Turned the difficulty up to "hardcore" after reaching the second area. Biggest change seems to be that you have 2 less syrins and your health drops much quicker.

I think I read in here that the PS3 version has (more) tearing.

I've claimed that it does, but only because people have complained about massive tearing on PS3 and I have seen very little of it on 360 (it is there though but I haven't been bothered by it). I haven't played both or made a comparison, so it may not be true.

Get the Paratropper when you can (second map) and then unlock the AR16 as soon as possible and switch to that. It has an ACOG scope and is a fucking beast.
edit: Oh I see, you probably already have the AR16? Try the paratropper if you don't like the ACOG scope.

got the dart rifle.

edit: Yeah, i would have bought it sooner if i had known it fills the special weapon slot, allowing me to carry a sniper rifle too (4 shots seemed far too few).

Things got a lot more interesting, i'm actually having fun planning the time and the approach for every mission, especially since being stealthy has become a lot more important in latest missions.
I am still not sure the game has legs to keep me playing long after i unlock the second half of the map and a few interesting gadgets i'm curious to try, but having put 13/14 hours in the game and having enjoyed most of them for different reasons, i'd say i'm very satisfied with my purchase so far, and the editor will keep me busy for months, not really trying to build maps to actually use them in multiplayer, just building my own virtual worlds to walk around :p

I like how the second area seems darker and swampier, and the houses seem older and more traditional. It's like you're slowly drifting into the Conrad novel. The 'Enter the Heart of Darkness' achievement has me hoping, hoping, hoping the final approach to the Jackal is by riverboat.

WAIT?!?! is there a second area? a second map? ORLY? SRSYL?

I was so meh with this game till;

I got my first mission from gun dealer about blowing up a cargo truck at southern part of the map. As i was standing near abandoned bus station sun had started to rise, i was standing near the endless desert and i had an orgasm! lol the lighting the sound effects and everything was great. I could hear the engine of truck coming from distance and birds were singing and sun oh sun rays, it was rising gently (lol so poetic). That was one of the most beautiful things i have ever had in games since ICO and SotC.

That got quashed for me when I failed to destroy it as it passed me....... I want running after it and the thing just turned round and came back the same way it had come from.

I watched it for a bit and it just ran round in the same big circle till I destroyed it.

WTF is that about? Why not have it drive round the map randomly and let epic chases commence?

Great game though....

yeah when I saw that ach I was like "OMGOMGOMG" and immediately my head was filled with images of a dark jungle where all the sounds of the world are swallowed up by the trees themselves... so evocative :D

LOL so true, i had spent plenty of time while going to that mission area and i was checking map from time to time and red marker on map which represents the truck kept looping between two points all the time. I waited on a spot it came and i used a rocket launcher.

When will I be able to do new weapon dealer missions? Do I have to progress in the main storyline?
ayup

Also, the transition to the second map was pretty well-made.
also lol, the first mission on the second map basically makes the player just as big of a warmongerer/opportunist as the Jackal. There's no moral grounds on which to justify his kill anymore. >_< Wonder where they're going with this, or if they just screwed up.

I guess that will take a while, because I'm still exploring and doing antenna missions. :D Awesome game.

EDIT: I wished the flare gun would take the spot of the machete. :-(

I'm playing the 360 version and I haven't seen any tearing at all.

Sorry for the dp. x_X

Just had a small enough taste of the game to make my lust for it insatiable.
Saw the intro and played until I got my own warehouse and died at the following mission.
I found the hit detection totally fine, I very much liked the blood. Maybe there was another aspect people were complaining about.
Anyways, I was just glad to see all the flora and fauna, burning environments and mountains far off. Setting the alarm clock and see the time of day run by real time...etc. I have a feeling I will throw a ton of hours at this game.

You're having a problem with "bloom", as I did. It makes everything glow, and really kills the beautiful IQ of the game. I really hope you have the PC version. Go into the graphics options, and turn off "bloom". The game looks 10x better.

Oh, and a few notes about DX10 in this game. DO NOT USE IT!!!

DX10:

1) Must be used with bloom. Without bloom, the screen goes black.
2) Adds a horrible amount of input lag. The mouse is barely controlable with it on.

DX10 may increase performance, but it's not worth the massive amount of mouse lag it adds to the game. Go back to DX9, and you'll enjoy a far more responsive game. Not kidding, it adds like 2-3 frames of input lag at least.

People have a problem with the guns because they're not super accurate like in CoD4, Resistance, or Halo. People had the same problem with STALKER.

Myself, I adore the weapon physics in this game. It makes me strive to get more accurate weapons. Otherwise, if the starting weapons were CoD4 accurate, you'd have nothing motivating you to get the better weapons. People, get used to the fact that a damn MP5 will not headshot people at 100 yards away. The guns are not that accurate in real life, and they're certainly not that accurate in this game.

The PC people on the games official site are talking about a patch before the end of the year that will include.......

The first 'non-patch' update for Far Cry 2 will add predatory animals and killer beasties, says the latest issue of PC Gamer UK.

"The game will be released with only herbivores," reads PCG's The Spy column. "But there's a real chance that the game could end up with more vicious animals in DLC," such as lions, tigers and hopefully hungry, hungry hippos.

I'm fully behind them adding anything to the game world to make it more interesting. Right now it's only full of really really angry African people. Some really angry animals would be a nice change of pace.

Nice!

I hope I can entice the anrgy animals to kill the angry Africans for me!

Doing my fucking head in, can i buy a tank to just ride through all these bullshit checkpoints?

It's all about off-roading. That's the easiest way to avoid the checkpoints and not get into unnecessary fire fights. Just drive around them when you can and you'll not only save a ton of time, but also ammo.

To all the PC Users:

Is there a possibility to switch the music volume alone? I want the music @ 30% only.

And is there a possibility or command to change the fire the way it was in the trailers? If I use a molotov, there is fire for about 40sec and thats it... :(

I wouldn't be surprised to see a mod that has the fire stick around for much longer. Originally they had it so the fire wouldn't stop unless it was raining and during testing apparently a fire got so big it killed the Jackal before you ever saw him.

Fucking. Awesome.

Always drive a jeep with a mounted machine gun. When you hit a checkpoint, stop just outside and jump up on the gun. Aim down the sights and 9 times out of 10 you can easily mow down the 3-5 dudes inside. Then either drive on, or if your jeep gets wrecked, steal another from the camp. Wash - rinse - repeat.

LOL! I just want to use it a bit more in my strategies, but thats not even possible because its only a gimmick atm :/

Just bought this game on 360 for shits and giggles.

Looks pretty good!

EDIT: I know this makes no sense whatsoever, but I actually think FC2 looks and plays better on a 360 than a PC. It has something to do with how the locked framerate feels with the 360 controller (after you tune the sensitivity down a couple notches) and the vibration of the controller when you fire. Also, the graphics being less sharp give everything a more organic/less plasticky look. The gamma also seems much better at night time.
