So he was just making false shit up?
Why not wait until he has a press conference?
I mean... All he did was announce he was he was still looking into the emails, which could or could not be serious. After all, nothing has been announced and Clinton is certainly not guilty. I would rather have due process than abstaining it for the sake of an election.
It says in the letter itself that it's unprecedented for the FBI announce or comment on this sort of information at all, let alone announce it 11 days before an election. You all are thinking in the here and now and not thinking about what goes in the decision to announce this stuff now. Regardless of whether its going on now or when Hillary has won the election, you are going to decry that you are wronged. At least, I don't know what you want him to do? What do you want him to do in this instance? Leave it alone?
Actually the FBI is investigating because it is already known that HRC sent and received classified email on her private server and there is now additional evidence which requires further investigation.

Wow, well I don't think Comey is gonna keep his job for long.

What a piece of shit.
He should be fired immediately.

Not announce a scandal when there's literally fucking nothing?
You're blind if you think this isn't politicaly driven.
I want him to shut his disgusting, republican mouth up and not release a letter filled with NOTHING until such time these weiner email demonstrated some actual connection to Hillary and criminal activity. You all are thinking in the here and now and not thinking about what goes in the decision to announce this stuff now. Lol you think there's some juicy? Clinton and democrats have already asked him to release the emails. There's nothing there. If there really is then he should provide the informationA man does his job and people are calling for him to be fired because he dared say negative things about Hillary?
The guy knows the risks and after the briefing from his agents decided this needed to be done.
My guess is we have something juicy in here against Huma, Clinton, or the foundation. I see no other reason for him to time it like this since Republicans already disliked him for not recommending indictment.

This isnt rocket science. Fuckface Comey himself said he didnt need to do this and it is ridiculously unusual and partisan.
What i want is an FBI director not to be an incompetent jackass. Simple.

http://www.newsweek.com/hillary-cli...onald-trump-anthony-weiner-huma-abedin-514918There is no indication the emails in question were withheld by Clinton during the investigation, the law enforcement official told Newsweek, nor does the discovery suggest she did anything illegal. Also, none of the emails were to or from Clinton, the official said.
This new evidence relates to how Abedin managed her emails. She maintained four email accounts—an unclassified State Department account, another on the clintonemail.com domain and a third on Yahoo. The fourth was linked to her husband’s account; she used it to support his activities when he was running for Congress, investigative records show. Abedin, who did not know Clinton used a private server for her emails, told the bureau in an April interview that she used the account on the clintonemail.com domain only for issues related to the Secretary’s personal affairs, such as communicating with her friends. For work-related records, Abedin primarily used the email account provided to her by the State Department.
This procedure for printing documents, the government official says, appears to be how the newly discovered emails ended up on the laptop shared by Abedin and her husband. It is unclear whether any of those documents were downloaded onto the laptop off of her personal email accounts or were saved on an external storage device, such as a flash drive, and then transferred to the shared computer. There is also evidence that the laptop was used to send emails from Abedin to Clinton; however, none of those emails are the ones being examined by the FBI. Moreover, unless she was told by Abedin in every instance, Clinton could not have known what device her aide was using to transmit electronic information to her.
If the FBI determines that any of the documents that ended up on the shared device were classified, Abedin could be deemed to have mishandled them. In order to prove that was a criminal offense, however, investigators would have to establish that Abedin had intended to disclose the contents of those classified documents, or that she knew she was mishandling that information.
So he should not be transparent about what he is doing?
If he finds nothing, and Hillary becomes President, he is out.
If he does, wouldn't that be a good thing?
Wouldn't it be good to punish those that break laws?
FBI director hasn't seen them. He said so in his letter. Why not wait until he has a press conference?

Edit: I mean, look at Hillgaf. Ya'll are getting yourself in a tizzy about nothing. You don't even know what is in the contents of the emails any you are making sure judgments against the FBI Director who has seen them and made the judgment. I don't know what you want him to do? Stop? If he stops and it comes out he is looking into it when Hillary is president would you say its a right-wing conspiracy? Would you say its okay?
So he should not be transparent about what he is doing?

That's dumb. Comey isn't being criticized for looking into whether Weiner's emails are pertinent to other investigations. He's being slammed because he publicized a nonstory unnecessarily. And that changes the complexion from him doing his job to Comey performing political interference less than two weeks before an election. And it is this very activity that will get him canned.A man does his job and people are calling for him to be fired because he dared say negative things about Hillary?

FBI director hasn't seen them. He said so in his letter.

In Comey’s note to employees, he seemed to anticipate that his decision would be controversial.
“In trying to strike that balance, in a brief letter and in the middle of an election season, there is significant risk of being misunderstood,” Comey wrote.
Gather the facts, synthesize, and then inform. In that order. You all are thinking in the here and now and not thinking about what goes in the decision to announce this stuff now. Wow.
Yeah, its so "juicy" (LOL) that Clinton asked for the emails to be released.
I guess she really wants to go to prison!
No he shouldn't be transparent about what he is doing. It's an investigations bureau, not a fucking tabloid. So he should not be transparent about what he is doing?
If he finds nothing, and Hillary becomes President, he is out.

Yeah, and everything about that memo was dumb. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. In the same article from the Washinton Post:
In the same article from the Washinton Post:
Republican and their conspiracy theories are just embarrassing at this point. Democrats and Clinton WANT them to release the information yet it's being "investigated" so republicans can spin bullshit theories to try and win an election. It's not his job; he was not required to send any letter, much less one as vaguely written as that. He did it because he wanted to.
And if there's something juicy in those emails, then Hillary is sure being foolish in asking the FBI to release them.

FBI has hundreds of active investigations going. If you ask them about any of them, they will respond with "We do not comment on active investigations" precisely for reasons why todays commentary by Comey blew up in his face. Why did this received a special merit above say, let me throw a wild guess out there, investigation over Manafort/Drumpf campaign ties to Russia?
So he should not have had a press conference three months ago when he was confident Clinton did not break the law?
So he should not have had a press conference three months ago when he was confident Clinton did not break the law?
Exactly.
The people who are crying foul are not going to be if he finds nothing and has a press conference over it.
Like. I love transparency in any part of the government. Encourage it.
Yeah me either. Let Comey keep hanging himself so Madam President can shitblast him out of his career, since there is demonstrably nothing wrong in the emails.Easier to get ahead of things, cover your tracks, and influence dispositions if you can sick your entire team on the email stack before the FBI can finish an investigation.
While I do agree the content needs to be released simply because of how close we are to the election I wouldn't want to sacrifice an investigation that could bring justice.
No, he shouldn't have. By his own admission, holding a press conference like that when the ultimate recommendation is *not* to indict is also highly unusual.
They had already actually investigated the emails.
What the hell are you talking about?
So he should not have had a press conference three months ago when he was confident Clinton did not break the law?
Edit: Because if he didn't then we would have heard about Clinton emails for the past three months rather than how horrible Trump is as a person.
FBI completed its findings by then.So he should not have had a press conference three months ago when he was confident Clinton did not break the law?
Actually, he's probably doing it so he doesn't get fired. HRC won't want the blow back for replacing the FBI director while under investigation.
Wittingly. He's not an idiot. He's the fucking director of the FBI, not a Senator. (and he's done this before). But this isn't a court room. You don't have to play "I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until we've done a billion dollar inquiry" here on GAF.Yeah his career is done. He will forever be remembered as the guy who tainted the reputation of FBI by trying to influence the outcome of an election, wittingly or unwittingly.
This accomplishes the very opposite. Clinton has just been given more than enough rope to hang him. And her statement in response is a signal that she will do just that. There's no way that Clinton can keep Comey on as the head of the FBI, so he's toast.Actually, he's probably doing it so he doesn't get fired. HRC won't want the blow back for replacing the FBI director while under investigation.
You are wrong. Not all of it was marked but classified info went both ways on the server.Clinton never sent classified info, only received it via chains, I believe. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, though.
The fact that he had a press conference and "Clinton's emails" have been out of the spotlight ever since then.
