Mick Foley recently appeared on Lilian Garcia's podcast. During the interview, Foley brought up an incident where Vince McMahon yelled at Braun Strowman:

"I was about to go out there a couple weeks ago, and I heard Braun Strowman say, I want a title shot. Mr. McMahon's behind the curtain, at the board watching the monitor, and he goes, oh god, it's not a title shot. I was thinking to myself, then what is it? That's exactly what I would go to call it when I would go out there. You want a title shot? He's like, it's a title match. It's a match! So if you ever wonder what it's like to see a six-foot-eight, three hundred pound behemoth get chewed out, you should've been there."

Man, having Vince as a boss sure seems like a dream.

It's how companies work though. They have a branded way to describe things. If Vince wants his superstars to say "title match", then that's the way it has to go.

I remember years ago when I worked retail selling mattresses, we had to stick to the company guidelines when describing products, and presenting the mattress lineup to customers. We even had secret shoppers who came in that knew the "lingo" and would score us on how well we did.

Roman's dive is better because he actually saves it for big moments instead of everyone tossing a suicide dive out once a match for the commercial break.
It also doesn't look like weak garbage like most of the roster's "suicide dives". More like pillow dives amirite?

Although I do like Luke Harper's dives through the ropes. He's so big and lanky, he really pushes his arms out so the person goes flying pretty hard.

Yeah but a marketing department is the last place I'd look when trying to construct relatable characters on a fictional TV program.

Agreed, its a once in a while thing and that makes it all the better.

WWE's verbiage and ridiculously strict adherence to it is asinine.
You can do branding without negatively impacting your TV show, which WWE's verbiage and obsession with branding everything at all times does.

Poor Strowman. I guess in Vince's mind the word "shot" is associated with a gun "shot" or probably too close to insider wrestling term "shoot".

Simple fact is, Enzo will be pushed as long as they see money in Cass, right? As soon as Cass gets a singles push, Enzo's his manager - at best. He is, unfortunately, perfect for being future endeavoured once his merch sales dry up.

He will be Cass's manager and then transition to a comedy/on-air role like idk potential GM or just something like that because him in the ring doesn't work. Cass we've seen improve. He's become more comfortable and sure of himself in the ring. Enzo was comfortable from day 1 on the mic but even so we haven't seen improvement in anything with him.

Dave knows he can say absolutely anything and Vince will still be desperate to have him back.

Not just Vinny

The idea was simply that he wanted to have the No. 1 movie in the world with Guardians of the Galaxy and a headline spot at SummerSlam, because synergy. But Triple H and Stephanie had other ideas:

“I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if I was back and I was also in the No. 1 movie in the world?’ And they kind of had a snicker and [they said] ‘… We don’t know if the movie’s going to be that good.’ … It was a very uncomfortable moment where I think they were just kind of doubting me and laughing in my face”

Batista has no reason to come back to WWE. WWE needs Batista way more than Batista needs WWE at this point. Not to mention they handled Batista wrong in every way imaginable with his last run

You don't want marketing and branding in your supposedly natural dialogue though. People don't talk that way.

I think HHH has some not to subtle jealousy over the fact that other people have broke out into the movie business but HHH hasn't. You know deep down HHH is probably pissed that Rock and Batista made it, and to a lesser extent Austin has been able to float in the TV/podcast world on his own.

Batista has that Disney money and job security, I don't blame him not returning to WWE ever unless WWE gave him a lot of money.

The timing of Batista WWE return was bad with the rise of Daniel Bryan.

How dare you! HHH had a cameo in Blade Trinity!

Batista doesnt seem to have the same boner for the business like Rock so I wouldn't blame him for turning down a mania appearance. I bet Rock does his annual appearance

TBH who the hell expected Batista to have a pretty successful acting career?

Even if his career was not successful, thinking a multimillionaire very hyped Marvel movie in 2014 wouldn't be big is just stupid.

Linda McMahon's inclusion in the Trump administration even in the limited role she has is the clearest example of pay to play in politics.

The people didn't want her. Twice. And now she is in a position of power.

Fuck the McMahons, fuck Trump.

Yeah was going to say, this is why companies hire copywriters and don't rely on marketing to write all their own stuff. Vince is trying to make sure branding and verbiage is conveyed properly. It is a s little silly if he did "chew him out" but who knows if Mick wasn't embellishing it all. Mick seems like the kind of guy who is a yes man and will bend over for them.

Could someone please explain to me what the hell was with the Emma to Emmalina to Emma transformation thing this week? It makes no sense to me as an angle for a character's return. I thought she was a heel doin heel things before. What the heck is this character supposed to be and how is it relevant?

I don't understand this writing.
