February Wrasslin' |OT| Observe THIS, Brother!

He also came in at a time when WWE was getting worse and worse, so comparatively you wanted to root for him. The way things turned out with him "shooting" on the company was a pretty great way to play off of that.

I had unfortunately given up on the product maybe a year before the "pipebomb" and following events

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Punk was the first "cool indie guy" to actually make an impact in WWE (whereas now they're swimming in em)

He opened the door and Bryan made it acceptable to be Indy guy's. Now HHH can hitch his wagon to these guys and act like he discovered and created these guys.

Oh my god, the bickering between the commentators during this RAW vs. Smackdown match at Survivor Series '05. If this keeps up, I'm-a have to move on through.

Jesus Christ. Five announcers just yelling at each other during the match. This is insane.

Just a heads up, for those that remember Vince's XFL. ESPN has their 30 for 30 documentary about the XFL coming up at 9 PM EST.

I never watched WWE during CM Punk's time. What was the appeal?

He was different than anyone else in his appearance, personality, ring music, name even, had a ton of charisma, was a great wrestler, and had excellent promos. He had such belief in himself and was such an asshole that he was actually offended that he was wrestling Undertaker at Wrestlemania rather than being in the main event. But that worked for him. He carried himself like he believed he was the greatest thing ever. It made him a tremendous piece of shit heel, and as a face, he got to say to say things to HHH, Stephanie, and Vince that no one else would say. He talked to them like they were underneath them, probably because he felt it, which made him the hero of the IWC.

Did you not watch the video? Who on the roster right now would WWE trust to run a cooky segment like that on his own? Jericho? ...?
Man had charisma for days as a face or heel. He made everything seem like a shoot.
He also gave WWE it's first truly compelling storyline (i.e.: it brought lapsed wrestling fans back to WWE) and 5* match in years.

It sucks Ambrose doesn't have anything setup for mania. I'd rather see him as the top face than Cena
There's still plenty of time to set something up.
If AJ doesn't have anything in the Main Event scene, I'm fine with him having a fatal three-way with Ambrose and someone else (Miz? Corbin?
...Shinsuke?
) for the IC title because these rumours of him fighting Shane at Mania can fuck right off. Also, ladder matches for the IC title at Mania can fuck off too.

Honestly I'd be OK with a ladder match. Dean/Corbin/Crews/Ziggler/Harper/Kalisto

Book it

Chrisley is a better promo than 99% of the roster.
I'm a better promo than 99% of the roster and it's been 15 years since I last cut one and I'm rusty as hell.
The Boogeyman, guys. The Boogeyman.

I wish WWE didn't play this gimmick straight, it was stupid and it should've been handled in the way it was in OVW of him being a violent psychopath or whatever, well despite that disaster of a promo and dumb ass Santino no selling as he was leaving in what became the incident that got Cornette fired.

To all you fossils, what was it like being a big fan of either (or both) brands and hearing that WCW was shutting down?

What was the reaction of VINCE buying the company?
I think I've mentioned it before here. I wasn't really watching then and I found out the weirdest way: my total non-fan grandpa read something about it in the paper. I think that was the only way I knew to watch the final Nitro.

The whole thing was so strange. Even though I wasn't watching anymore, it still felt like a piece of my childhood died or whatevz, so it was kinda sad.

I was 17 when they shut down and I was mainly a wcw fan because of the sting vs nwo thing back when it started, then for [NAME REDACTED], Eddie Guerrero, Rey mysterio, booker t, DDP (WCW DDP was fantastic, especially as the first guy to fight back against the nwo on a regular basis), The Chairman of WCW, the entire Jericho/ Malenko program (good god the pop at the Ciclope fake out), hell even Juvi was legit entertaining back then. Loved crazy Chavo, too.

But by the time it died I was fine with it. The show had been too awful for too long and it was obvious there was no hope at the end of the tunnel.

Then Jeff Jarrett being made into a big deal because vince Russo had a mega bonner for him .

Tldr; treasure the memories more than anything in wwf, but fuck it wcw was long dead before it actually died.
