I've been meaning to see Mean Streets, but fuck Taxi Driver. It's boring as shit and is basically like The Catcher In The Rye of movies to me. Whiny bullshit that people accepted as justification for their misanthropic attitudes when they were in fact supposed to be the opposite. I had the same issues with Nightcrawler, except Nightcrawler has a happy ending for the main character, which totally belittles the "Media and people in it are bad sociopaths and being a bad sociopath is bad" message the director claimed to have.
