February Wrasslin' |OT| WrassleGAF. In 2016.

Then they need to either have a constant stream of guys coming in replacing talent or rethink the schedule or spots.

I mean every time somebody has an injury they immediately seek to use it in a match to get heat on it.

I mean how much do you think Vince wanted Bray to come out and attack Bryan so he had some heat?

The thing is you hear this same thing about football, but it's the wrong mindset. It's not about an accumulation of injuries. A single impact can have irreparable damage on a person's brain. Smashing into another person, or a ring, with your head even just once is not something the human body and brain is built to do. We might just have to accept that pro Wrestling, like football, as it stands today, is simply an inherently dangerous activity.

Everyone on the roster should be subjected to the test Bryan had. Who knows how many guys have the same kind of injuries. I can't believe the older dudes are healthier than Bryan either.

With this and the amount of injuries they have it should be enough to make them change things.

Well, we could go back to wrestling like we did in the 1970s, with minimal moves and maximum story.

Myself, I tend to think that people should be free to take dumb risks with their own bodies if they want to do so, but I have no idea how you would begin to run a publicly-traded company with that kind of mindset.

How the fuck was Bryan considering coming back when he was seizing and shit? Was that really not enough to get him to hang up his boots until he saw the brain scans? I don't think Corey Graves got anywhere near that far into his career before concussions blew it up.

And yet, I doubt the indies give a fuck and still plan to sell themselves on insane flippy spotfests and unprotected head shots.

It's not as though WWE's doctors knew this either. Their saying no was simply based on his concussion history. The other tests he'd gotten from other doctors had shown him to be of sound mind and body, which is what he thought the denial of clearance was about. He hadn't had memory loss, or had it affect his intelligence at all, hence why they had cleared him to wrestle.

This brain scan he got in January seems to be a new thing. Frankly the amount of wrestlers that would have to retire if they took it would devastate WWE. And not just veterans like Bubba or HHH, or indie guys like Owens and Ambrose, even Roman could easily fail from his football days.

I support this

A generation of wrestlers that actually might all live beyond the age of 45? And all they have to do is be smart and realistic about their health? Absolutely please

no AJ vs Jericho spoiler from smackdown?!

boo
AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho 2 did not happen this week on Smackdown. Before the match began, The Social Outcasts came out and interrupted, turning it into a Tag Team Match, which AJ Styles and Chris Jericho won.

lol... sigh.

fastlane match i suppose.

I mean that in the sense of WWE are not going to do this because they and everyone else know they're not going to like the results one bit. But it may become quite the elephant in the room from here on out.

* SmackDown kicks off with Chris Jericho coming to the ring for a promo to hype his match with AJ Styles

* Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles ends when the Social Outcasts come out to interrupt. This leads to a tag match

* Styles and Jericho defeated Curtis Axel and Adam Rose. After the match, Jericho left Styles laying with a Codebreaker. Jericho said he will see AJ later

Also
* The Dudley Boyz come out in street clothes and Bubba Ray Dudley is looking more like Bully Ray than before. They cut promos with tables surrounding the ring and we see a replay of them turning on The Usos at RAW. Bubba cuts a big heel promo and rips Daniel Bryan for retiring, leading to a huge "yes!" chant. "Save the tables" comes back as Bubba says they are doing away with tables, no more tables for the fans

Bully Ray's back

The thing is... nobody is going to hold the WWE's head to the flames and force them to undergo said testing. They'll continue to whitewash the concussion issue until the next designated guinea pig like Bryan or Graves emerges so they can go to the media and say, "Yeah, we're treating concussions seriously, see? Now please go away."

Of course, the NFL is arguably behaving even worse.

Heel promo or not... I'm not sure it's wise to have a multiple concussion victim like Bubba Ray get heat off calling Daniel Bryan a wuss ESPECIALLY when multiple talents like Christopher Nowinski and Rene Dupree have spoken out about Bubba Ray intentionally concussing them in matches to shorten their careers. Hell, Nowinski's the fricken co-founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation. His wrestling career ended at the hands of Bubba Ray.

They're definitely being selective, but Bryan was also a guy who was throwing out red flags everywhere. They were worried, and they were right to be.

I feel like advetising a match that doesn't happen is really bad for marketing for Smackdown on top of being false advertising

* Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles is the main event.

I wasn't joking about half the roster being gone, but goddamn. 4th or 5th segment with at least one of them
Opening, plus match, plus tag match, plus Styles backstage promo, now main event

Don't act so surprised.

It's amazing this shitty company only knows how to protect Reigns and Cena. They don't give a shit about anyone else.

Steph and HHH are protected! Look how much they care about themselves! And look, they even have fans wanting them to take over the company! Caring everywhere!

They seem to do a great job of protecting Stephanie McMahon.

It's horrible how they let her emasculate the wrestlers on the roster. If this the 90s she would have been hit with 10 stunners and stripped to her bra and panties already. What's the point of her doing this when there can be no retribution?

They put the only chance of her having any real retribution in storyline on Rock being available and Ronda still being undefeated. After they did that, both parts of that plan immediately burst into flames.

It was actually impressive to be honest: they could have just ended it right there, but instead they chose to kill time so the sun wouldn't fuck up their Taker/Bray entrances. So they thought they could wait a full year to get it right, and then both things got fucked up in the span of just a few months

I think at this point is safe to say most people could book this in their sleep. 50/50 booking is as lazy as you can get.
It's what 28 writers do to pad time and fill 5 hours of TV a week when they're told not to build anyone at the expense of "the WWE brand and the chosen few" and they have a mandate not to tell stories, build feuds or BE creative. Their sole objective is to rigidly script the talent to water down their personalities so we don't see any of it outside of Up Up Down Down, WWE.com interviews, media appearances, their Twitter accounts and WWE Network original programming like Ride Along and Table for 3.

If it makes you feel any better, I doubt AJ cares. Nor does he expect any different. This is entirely about misplaced fan expectations wanting something from a product that refuses to deliver it. And there is no shortage of alternative programming options that are more than happy to not offer you 50/50 (WWE) or completely illogical (TNA) booking.

AJ will win the feud guys, fucking relax...
He's winning their match at Fastlane. We all know this. It's his turn.
Then he'll move on to his next 50/50 feud.

Let's at least take the time to celebrate something positive... SmackDown FINALLY had a clean finish in a main event match.

yeah, but what if his next feud is against Owens?

what will people want from it? a tie?

I totally agree that 50/50 booking sucks ass but a match on Smackdown, which is just to build up the feud, means shit.

It's 2016, you shouldn't be okay with seeing people trade wins. That's not (and never has been) how feuds should work, and that's not (and never has been) how people get over

He just came from a company that fucking loves 50/50 booking. He'll be fine. Smackdown is basically a house show when it comes to the overall feud.

i love how the whole feud from jericho's perspective is "well, you beat me once. and that's good. but are you GREAT enough to beat me a second time?"

i guess we got our answer

Not only it is a 50/50 feud but it also is the second time they wrestled in like a month. Is anyone looking forward for the rematch? Talk about overexposure.

It makes perfect sense if you understand the WWE's intent is to actually not get anyone over.
And it's something you can ignore by not watching their product.

But I do watch their product because it's the only big wrestling promotion with that style. And I just want something better out of it.

I don't even know why he is in this feud. He should be feuding with Kevin Owens, but instead Owena is in some shitty feud with Ziggler.

What these fuckers should do though is to stop overexposing shit, by the time we get to Fastlane we could very well be at AJ vs Jericho 4, which is also the reason they do that 50/50 shit, because as stupid as they are they know, with the way they book their garbage, that a feud where a guy sweeps the other 3-0 or 4-0 in completely meaningless matches is uninteresting.

We just saw one of those where Titus O'Neil racked up a half-dozen uncontested wins against Stardust.
He then proceeded to lose to Adam Rose.
