They should be getting the non-cursory CTE scans as well. They need to get the tests that Daniel Bryan had done in New York last month.

But that won't happen.

The problem with that test is that it has not been peer reviewed yet. It worked for him but it has not been studied fully on how it works and who it works for.

As of now there is no test that can determine if you have CTE. Its a science that needs more research and many experts give different result.

Bryan was cleared by expert professionals before the test found out his problem. Its going to take some time but eventually some sports people will do even knowing the risk. This includes football, wrestling, MMA and maybe any sport that uses your head.

Concussion testing seems like its still very hit or miss right now. The basic stuff they have the wrestlers do by WWE medical staff is I guess a bit of a joke you could get through once you are actually literally still head spinning and seeing stars,

But I think at this stage it should be a mandatory thing that anyone in the WWE who has been wrestling for 5 years or a history of concussions should get whatever scan and testing Bryan got. Whatever the current best solution is.

If that CTE test Chris Nowinski and his team are working on becomes a reality then shit is going to get real because right now its still a lot of guess work about how much damage has actually been done. Right now they just dont know unless you physically examine the brain after death.

Even then politics will always play a part. Less bullshit will happen once Triple H takes over but you will still have bullshit.

I honestly believe that if these tests are enforced, pro wrestling as we know it would change drastically.

You can't have guys working 5 nights a week at the intensity that they work in the modern era without some serious fucking problems. If you thought they were being cautious now, with banned moves and such, just wait. Unless they decide to stop doing house shows and only have guys work once or twice a week (or, hey, HAVE A FUCKING OFFSEASON), high flying moves, or anything that targets the head won't be allowed.

Suplex City is banned :(

Could there be a wider shift in coming up with safer methods to do risky looking moves?

Surely even slightly modifying how moves are set up could have a huge impact on reducing injury?

Vince saw the future of wrestling with Farooq in 96 and DLo in 98. Soon everyone will wrestle with a leather helmets and chest guard/rib guard. My brothers once again innovating for black history month.

You'd think so. They are already do stuff like... instead of going into the steel steps, you go into the "barricade", which is just a mat, but looks cool and commentary sells it every time. Shit like powerbombs into the apron or the side of the ring, though? fuck. I can see that going, especially after what happened to Sting.

But something like a german suplex? How can you make that more safe?

How does any one guy in the locker room look at Daniel Bryan and what his concussions have done to him and NOT want to get the same tests done after hearing the awful things that have come about since?

I sure as hell would, WWE be damned. The age of killing yourself as a pro wrestler should be long gone. It's not worth it.

No amount of worlds titles and "THANK YOU <wrestler>" chants are worth that kind of crap.

Thank you everyone. It didn't hit me until today that this is happening but it has to be done. I think my fiancée is more worried than I am but at least she'll be there with me the entire time, recovery as well. It's kinda sad because my dreams that I have might be hindered but fuck it. I've determined that I'll get through it and I'll get married in Oct, then maybe try my luck as homegrown wwe talent. I'll be here, I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thank you all once again.

Enough of the sad stuff, let's get back to business.

Sorry friend, you were beginning to build up some heat.

I think most people there are probably too scared about knowing the results.

Unfortunately, not every is as well off as Daniel Bryan. Bryan is set for life, and he can still make a shit load more money just being involved with WWE, signing autographs, PR appearances... not everyone else is that lucky.

If Ziggler can't work anymore, WWE dumps him and he's off to do standup comedy for the rest of his life.

I still can't see the reasoning. I'd rather go from that to working at Kinkos than have irreversible brain damage that causes seizures. Nothing in this world is worth that. A decent living can be made elsewhere.

Except they're completely inconsistent. JBL is the person who said AJ was a former IWGP champion just like Brock, but now he's calling him a rookie? They keep lurching wildly from "this guy is a veteran and a big deal" to "nothing outside WWE matters, it's a worthless small pond, he's a nobody" with no rhyme or reason.
Like I said, there shouldn't be character commentators right now as the current crop lacks the talent, so it works against them. I would probably say that specific case of inconsistency was due to the different intentions between the Rumble and Raw but it's an expected outcome of their commentary system.

Overall I feel they are handling AJ well. Not letting him speak but pairing him with talkers is the exact thing people mean when they say "hide weaknesses and emphasize strengths.

In retrospect, I bet that match with Morishima where Bryan's eye was dislocated from it's socket was probably a really nasty concussion too.

Pentagon puts over Sabre Jr

ack Sabre Jr. defeated Pentagon in the second round of the PWG BOLA, and the masked wrestler has vowed to avenge his loss, as well as continue to become internationally acclaimed in wrestling.

“I felt honor to face such a talent, but I played to Zack Sabre’s style,” said Pentagon. “Even though I lost, I felt it was a great match. But I don’t fear anything or anyone, and my ultimate motivation is to become a global superstar. If any big promotion is interested in me, I’m open to anything that will push my career furthe

So Monday we went to Wal mart and saw something very strange. I'm not even kidding, we went to the wwe toy section as usual and there a Cody Rhodes box with... A fucking minion inside. I'm not even lying. I took a picture of it but I won't post it simply because I'm sure it won't be allowed here. Who in the fuck steals a damn action figure?

WWE Ride Along is giving me the Barrett talking time I desperately crave.
It's not like you'll get it anywhere else even though he's injured and has a stellar track record doing color commentary.

Are you sure that just wasn't an early merchandise leak of Cody's newest gimmick? I mean, he did go on record saying Stardust was dead.

If he went out to the ring with that shit on, I'll hobble my ass to Titan Towers and beat some ass.

Grats on making the Post

This is awesome

The Daniel Bryan news has overshadowed the fact that The New Beginning in Osaka starts in about 6 hours:

CHAOS (Gedo, Kazushi Sakuraba & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger, Ryusuke Taguchi & Tiger Mask
-I'm assuming Gedo or YOSHI-HASHI eats the pin from Liger or Tiger Mask.

Manabu Nakanishi & Yuji Nagata vs. TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima)
-TenKoji probably wins to set up a challenge later for GBH.

Los Ingobernables (BUSHI, EVIL & Tetsuya Naito) vs. Juice Robinson, KUSHIDA & Michael Elgin
-You'd think Los Ingobernables has to win so they can challenge for the NEVER Openweight tag championships. And it should set up Naito vs. Elgin and BUSHI vs. KUSHIDA.

NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship: Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe & Toru Yano (c) vs. Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Yujiro Takahashi)
-Yay, a rematch from Wrestle Kingdom 10. Too early for Yano and Briscoes to lose this.

NJPW Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks (c) vs. reDRagon vs. Matt Sydal & Ricochet
-Jesus fucking Christ, another New Japan junior tag multi-team match. Could we just get a straight title match at some point? I know the idea is that reDRagon still hasn't been pinned and that Sydal/Ricochet won the junior tag tournament, but these multi-team matches just run these match-ups into the ground. Bucks retain.

NEVER Openweight Championship: Katsuyori Shibata (c) vs. Tomohiro Ishii
-Just don't headbutt each other, for God's sake. Keep that rocket on Shibata.

Bullet Club (Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson & Kenny Omega) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma
-A set-up match for Omega vs. Tanahashi, and I really hope Omega is able to tone his goofiness down now that he's being pushed up the ladder. Bullet Club wins to get some heat on Omega even as Gallows and Anderson head out the door.

IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Hirooki Goto
-Part of me wants to see the upset where Goto beats Okada, but I can't imagine that they would cut Okada down at the knees right after Wrestle Kingdom 10. Okada retains.

None of that matters anyway when you have selective steroid testing and even selective rule enforcement with things like bladeing (as much as I think they should bring it back) and chairshots

Billy Gun is a trainer. Not a competitor. There's no reason to drug test trainers.
