I think they're accurate for the most part, some are kind of exaggerated. Characters that have a high counter/hold "stat" on the character select are the ones who have counter chain holds(or "advanced holds"), which are executed with a special command rather than just pressing back+block. Lei Fang and Bayman have such chain holds, so that when they land one of those special counter chain holds, they can make it hurt. There's probably a few others that have those types of counters too, but Lei Fang and Bayman I think are the biggest ones.

There aren't very many balance & system changes between the current version of Sign and Revelator, so unless you *only* want to play one of the new characters and don't want to get started on learning matchups or mechanics now, go for it.

Ah, so Lei Fang has the same counter window everyone else does, but she can make it hurt more?

There are no tick throws but there is throw punishment that can be used to punish either unsafe strings or holds that are baited.

Now for Lei Fang, she has more advanced holds and she can either turn it into a parry or a chain throw, she also has advanced holds for just about every strike in the game giving her tools against everybody take that in tandem with her range and attack variance and she played perfectly only Ayane played perfectly is on her level. Everybody has the same counter window just Lei Fang can do more in hers. Also Lei Fang has the best power launcher in the game due to the combo she can easily net with that. Now for the advanced hold characters, it's her and Marie Rose, just Marie does not have quite the range of Lei Fang, but both are advanced hold masters who when played defensivly are monsters.

The bars are mainly a suggestion and everybody has advanced holds, just Bayman has the bigger pay off in it in general and Lei Fang has advanced holds that can function as parries counters and chain throws. She also has more advanced holds than anybody

There were no balance changes (...I believe, there might have been one or two tiny adjustments) for the existing characters, so the main differences are:

1) You can now charge blitz shield. I haven't watched enough revelator footage to know how this impacts the game.

2) You can now do a powered up version of one of your character's supers by spending your burst. Seems to be ass outside of a situation where it'll win you the whole match.

3) Side dust was changed so it can work mid-screen now.

4) Johnny and Jack-O were added to the game.

5) The game received a noticeable visual upgrade.

...and that's it! (AFAIK)

Unless I forgot what advanced holds are, Leon has no advanced holds. His counter holds are the basic "backwards direction+block" and forward+block for mid kicks. He has no other counter hold motions.

I imagine he's not the only one, either. I don't particularly remember Nyotengu having advanced hold motions, either. Haven't really played DOA5 since autumn of last year.

Most of the characters I play have advanced holds, (Ayane/Phase 4) but I'll take your word on it on advanced holds on Leon, but characters should have some advanced holds.

Did you try re-installing the win-8 drivers for the mouse afterward? That seems to work for some people. Pretty much 100% something I'll need to do with my wacom bamboo tablet if I do upgrade to Win10. :/

Just a heads up that the Steam Guilty Gear Xrd DLC deal lasts until the 11th.

If you pick the game before then you get all the DLC included permanently.
