What Anerican premier event would you drop to make Combo Breaker one? The obvious answer would be NCR but they are blessed by the Capcops and the Illumanati so that's not happening. I could see a case for dropping Final Round as well especially given the mess over the last couple of years and that the southwest has two premier events, but it's still the second biggest event in the US behind Evo. I don't think it's an easy call (outside of the one that won't happen for political reasons).

Capcom can dictate anything in regards to their games and that gives them defacto veto power over any sponsors. There's nothing stopping them from blocking Capcom games from being run if they accepted a sponsorship from YouPorn or Fakku or whoever, really. And what event would opt to do that (outside of random events that don't have Capcom games at all like CEOtaku or Strongstyle)? It would be a total dick move, but they could totally do it. Didn't they already make Avyd drop SF5 from their tournament series?

I thought they could only stop it from being streamed? They could still run the event. Maybe.

Other people have made that suggestion. To me, the world wouldn't end if you added another premier event to the schedule.

I don't know if they squared things away with Capcom since NCR, but I'm still wary of companies coming in promising big money with no track record. Players still bare the risk of not getting paid.

As for CEO, I'm sure it will be fine, but there's definitely a conflict of interest present with the way things were handled. We'll see what happens in a month.

EDIT: Oh the Best Buy one lists for $59. Welp. My amazon plus stuff already knocked the price down for me so I'm good here.

Now to just sit and try to practice some KOF between now and launch. I'm reaaaaaaally interested in so many characters its hard to say who I'll end up with. I'm a life long Andy,Terry, Kyo, Iori, K' fan but I also played a lot of Vice/Chin in 13. Plus this game has some really sweet new stuff and I am seeing in the movesets a ton of hotness for rekka characters and easy inputs to rock with. Kukri and Mui Mui look especially cool on paper. Mui Mui has some real options on rekka order too so I can get some Iron Fist pressure outta her with ACTUAL mixups.

So much to look forward too and I still haven't seen cast like Xanadu or Bedhead McNappyfists yet.

Shit, I didn't even know about the price error.

I never really did play much except '97 randomly as a kid, but I always liked Iori and King. I could never really find a 3rd character though, but really I didn't even know about what makes a good team anyway.

I'm not really sure what to emphasize in teams in 14 given it doesn't have the hd gauge stuff where cancel heavy specials in combos is a thing. I never studied past games. Only 13 and even then more as an observer given the execution and thin amount of playtime I had back then.

I think I'll still try to run a zoner on point as battery an all rounder then a resource using combo dude at anchor though.

EDIT: Looking back I should have been playing Hwa Jai more in 13. I had easy pressure with him and long combos with good damage for next to no effort. Poke slide poke slide go crazy with the Adon stuff.

I eventually ran Andy/K'/ Ex Kyo with K' occassionally moving around and either playing ghetto battery on point, or abusing meter at anchor for combos. I could just always sorta hold my positioning well with Andy without resorting to anything expensive so he ended up working as my battery with how much he was earning me on meter. Definitely had the longest combos with Ex Kyo. I was all about corner carry with him and K' stuff I was learning. Originally I was running K'/Vice//Chin. No reason...I just liked em.

What I find so fascinating about KOF is the way character value changes dramatically depending on where they are at on your team layout. Some folks are good but give them a full stick of butter and they become a death threat for killing whole teams. Soooooooo many OCVs in KOF tournaments once someone gets to their dude and load them with enough starting meter to run their comfort zone.

Its weird though...I have the fondest roster love for kof xi but not the strongest system love. KOF XI was an actual tag game. The rest were 3 man team gauntlets. With strikers and various systems coming and going KOF XI is the only one I remember breaking stride fully and going from gauntlet to tag. I could be wrong but I think it was the only one. Best roster by a mile in my eyes, but KOF XIII was the one that really blew me away on systems. The HD gauge craziness was fun and a great way to let it rock but force people to earn the right to use such lengthy combos. It was designed to have TOD but designed around a system that reigned it in and forced you to earn it really hard. Especially since long combos tended to feed people a ton of resources in a gauntlet style structure. How well it achieved that is debatable. Made for some great back and forth tournies though as teams would run it back and forth on each other.

I'm hype. I don't know what to expect or whats right or wrong yet. I just wanna dig in and not let go soon. This is the first non-experiment fighting game I'll be getting since Injustice/MKX and while I was serious about MKX I had PC version so it ended too fast. Can't wait to go all in on a fighter instead of all notebook and design study with a fighter for once.

Oh...well that would explain why I didn't remember it. I got it, but thats when the 360 had failed at backwards compatibility and it was the disc that wouldn't even play at all even after the updates. 2002 played with disappearing sprites :/

Guess i'm in for KoF14 as well, just preordered.

That game is looking super fun and it has soooooo many characters i want to try. I usually don't have this 'problem', but here it'll be hard even to pick three. And there's a bunch of characters they haven't even shown yet!

Will have to put Athena and Mai on my team though. Athena looks really good, strong psycho ball and phoenix arrow and this time around has a super outside of shining crystal bit. Mai has practically all of her old stuff plus her EX fan is like Anji Mito's, which i think is gonna wreck some dudes.
