I haven't played Injustice yet. Is it really similar enough to MK that a Capcom vs. MK community battle would really mean anything? I'm not even sure what it would accomplish anyway.

It's moved far enough in the Capcom fighter direction that there's an argument to be made about the game exposing top-MK players, who are used to scrubby, slow, simple fighters. Now they have to tech throws, block cross-ups, and so forth. FChamp started that shitstorm.

But it's similar enough that it's still clearly THEIR game. It feels a lot more like MK9 than any other fighter.

It's just for fun. A lot of trash talking has been going on in the wake of this game's release. It's similar to MK but it also has some similarities to Capcom games... it's a fair game for both sides to compete in without having the issue of massive prior experience giving edge.

I just want some good old fashion pop offs.
True that. I guess I've gotten too used to people using the "our players could beat your players" callout as some kind of veiled assertion that one community's game is superior, when it wouldn't really prove that at all.

In all seriousness the top mk players aren't as good overall at fighting games as the top players in other games.

Is that true or is it just that the top 3-4 Capcom players happen to be beasts at games in general?

Well, I guess Guilty Gear and Virtua Fighter produce a lot of cross-game beasts, too.

It's not shocking that GG and VF can do that, they are both pretty much the middle ground of their genres and both high quality as fuck.

Block button causes them to not learn how to block in every other game.

A question worth asking is whether or not top MK players spend a lot of time with other games. As far as I know, Perfect Legend is the only MK specialist that actually plays (or played) other games seriously. Are there others?

That's about as unlikely as you can get, I would say as unlikely as Nintendo vs. Capcom.

CDjr plays other games. I think he's been going in hard on SFxT, and he got top 8 at Apex in AE I think even though he doesn't really play AE super seriously.

Justin lost to two MK players last night, but they were using clearly superior characters.
I don't think there is that big of a difference among those 3 characters. Justin just has to adjust to some of those gimmicks. And besides it was 2 days since the game's release, not enough time to learn the match ups.

Really curious to see how Chris Genius performs though.

fuckin' called it, man

He was a tester so pretty good probably.

Where it breaks? Soooo a lot of old 2d fighters, BBCS sorta, and CvS2?
Smash invented Guard Breaks? :p

I mean copy it exactly, with a button for it, a bubble, having it break after time and dizzy, letting you roll/dodge with it up, letting you parry/reflect by doing a perfectly timed block.

Sooo, you sorta want BlazBlue with button blocking, rolls and instead of taking bonus damage you get dizzy?

Goddamn, I totally forgot Civil War was this weekend. Wish I had some way of going since I'm just a few hours away, but not in the cards right now. How many swords will Chris win this year!?
Anyone who thinks P4A's problem is that it's too simple should just graduate to Jojo's. Now that's a game that rewards execution.
It does and JoJo's is vastly better than p4a. I rather just play GG or BBCP when it releases though personally.

Competitive mk has been largely concentrated among 20 or so players for 10 years. I wouldn't be surprised if running simulations for various scenarios/designing flow charts has been less commonly used in the MK community.
You know what? I think Mitsuru would wreck MVC3. Down B beats Shell Kick!
LOL she would only wreck if she kept her damage, mitsuru wouldnt be as dominating as she is if her damage was cut back on par to match up with her design.

Her MvC3 equivalent is Nova just start using him.

I played Jojo's back when it first release because I liked the IP but I really couldn't get into the game beyond a casual level.

I play Young Joseph. Fuck execution.

I would totally play a execution based character if I had a training mode.
