Fighting Games Weekly | April 8-14 | Cena-Factor validated, WWEsports remain stAGEd

League of Legends is free to play and low spec. There is virtually no barrier to entry.

Capcom games require a $40 dollar game purchase plus they have to have a console (well the spec requirement is pretty low now).

It isn't so bad these days. All the good Capcom games are on steam and have often been very cheap.

I think the bigger barrier to entry is simply the perception that you need a stick and secondly that you are pretty much always doing it 1v1. Being able to jump into a team environment and learning the game as you contribute, is going to be a lot easier than just grinding away.

Still, I don't know why Blizzard would bother buying IPL. Why not just do their own shit? I would hope it would be because they really want to support more types of games. If not? Well I still get the feeling Capcom and Madcatz and the like are cooking up something, if not on a smaller scale.

Thats for you guys to find out. I'm not blowing up the tiers when the game isnt even out yet. Lol.

I will say this, by the end of our focus test, we (as a focus tester group) could -not- come to a consensus on who the bottom 3 was in the game. We kept finding tech, and stuff was being changed on a daily (sometimes 2-3 builds a day even) basis.

FYI on that NYU Spring Fighter note:

NYU Game Center has always been the shit. Great venue, amazing staff, great resources, great internet to work with. And Daigo is coming. It's like our 3rd year being there and my 5th event I've attended there. I've had the chance to be on a panel with Sirlin/Seth last time I was theree. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Try to convince them to throw a Vampire Savior tourney!

A local player who has fallen into irrelevance since Evo 2011 is going to play Morridoom, at least that's what I'm assuming since he lost to a Morridoom team this past weekend.

Who hashtags themselves, though? #stabbymcster

I think he lost to a Tron team in losers finals. It was pretty crazy. Tron/Arthur/Something. Oh woops. That was at TapEx.
Yeah, he lost to BananaMan with Tron/Akuma/Arthur. At CFD he was sent to losers by DisAbel with Morrigan/Magneto/Doom, and had to play him again.

After he lost, he got paid for placing third and then dipped. :P

He can teach you how to lose to armor characters.
