GGPO means a small pop won't be as bad as it is in KOF.
What's everyone's top 3 high and low moments in Fighting Game History? No shame.

My top moments:
 • Becoming an Honorary Canadian at EVO 2011
 • Exposing a TO scamming players in my local scene
 • Winning a rap contest to play Marvel 3 early

My lowest moments:
 • Being made to look like a baby who can't find his mom's tits with Kuroda's fifth best character
 • Talking shit about my Twelve then playing C-Royd who proceeds to teach me how to play my character in the middle of the match
 • Passing out drunk in an elevator next to Seth Killian

Honorable mentions:
 • Almost losing in SFIV to a guy streaming on a Rock Band drum controller
 • Getting shaved by Marn on stream
I think all of these need to be explained in detail
Makoto is actually a somewhat reasonable matchup, relatively speaking. Ken and Elena, though :-(
I guess I haven't played many Elena's cause Ken is a given, but Makoto completely shuts down my air game with j. rh
I am a scrub though

Maybe you guys would have more fun with those match ups if you were not all bad and wanted to always mash buttons.
Kappa

In all seriousness who the hell has fun fighting Chipp and Sol? :p

Another Chipp.

I would play it if they opened the beta to more people or let people buy their damned way into the beta like KoFXIII. The alpha was great, but now the people I used to fight have lost the will to fight with the beta out.

Neutral in UNiEL is way more grounded and horizontal based than in most anime games, and and the game is built around ridiculous gatling pressure and grabs rather than high/low. It's certainly different.

For the guy asking.

aight, and I heard there is some kind of crossup prevention thing or something. Could you explain that or is that a different game.

If somebody jumps over you while you're holding back and your character walks or stays in the animation, you don't have to block cross up, the game will block it for you. There are ways to get around this like forcing the block animation in weird spots but it's something you very rarely see. Yuzuriha can break it, I have a couple of set ups with Merkava that break it, but it's fairly uncommon to "beat" cross up protection.

Basically to prevent some left/right BS, the game protects your from some cross ups, regardless of what direction you hold. It's a case by case thing since I think there are some setups or moves which will still cross up. IIRC, even though the cross up protection was in Melty, the first arcade version didn't have it for UNI. Seth was... really dumb in that game.

Oh, also the game prevents air normals being highs until you're off the ground for a certain height. So no rising j.As being high. This was also new in EXE:Late if I remember correctly.

Edit: Beaten by Anne D:

it doesnt have a full release yet, at least not the new version AoC...but i dno how many potential players a game that basically no one has heard of, looks like it came out in 99 and is only on pc is gonna attract.

its rad tho.

Despite all the similarities to Melty, the lack of air movement and the power of ground grabs make the game ridiculously different.

As I'm getting into the game I'm also discovering that Orie's normals are not as good as they look.

EDIT: Melty let you double jump to turn around, so there were certainly more ways to cross up in that game(still kind of rare).

I...I have none. Thanks for reminding me of how little fun I have :(

Melty had so many ways to break cross up protection that it just wouldn't matter a lot of the time haha. I love Melty but when people get knocked down in that game you might as well turn on circus music.

Watching old UNI is crazy. Besides the obvious Linne time outs, Seth was crazy. So many crossups and constant fuzzies lol
Too bad the system mechanics hurt him badly in this version.

Imagining Melty without a cross up protection would be so scary. The game's already close to marvel in terms of mixups since it barely affects anything.

Still messing around with the cast I think I like using Akatsuki so far in UNIEL.
Don't use Akatsuki. He's a UNIEL imposter.

Yeah I bought it about 2 years ago. Only bowbhasnitnsuddeb come back up again. I think it'll just have a small dedicated community...which is more than I can say for Dive Kick :/

I understand what kasane means. This will probably be like KOF XIII where most of the online community will disappear with a month and not many will be left. Depending on where you live it could be a big problem.

I generally don't let any "scene" or lack thereof influence my purchase of a fighting game. If I want to play and learn a fighting game, I do it. That's just me, though.

I bought an Xbox One for Killer Instinct. I showed it off to my local scene at a tournament, and the majority of them said that they liked it, but wouldn't buy an Xbox One. That's fine, I still very much enjoy the game.

Again, that's just me. Whatever fighting games are worth your money and time is up to you.

Is the HRAP Kai v4 worth investing in? I've never touched a Hori nor the hayabusa and kuros. (I'm sure it would be easy to drop in new parts anyway, though) I don't necessarily need a PS4 stick right now but don't want to have to hunt for one when Tekken/sfv release. It would also allow me to dump my PS3-only stick and give me the option to bump up to the ps4 version of Ultra if I want to.

Fight sticks are a worth investment. I've had my Mad Catz TE2 for years and I don't regret it.

Is Amazon still buying back sticks for outrageously high prices? If so, you might be able to trade in your PS3-only stick for the Kai 4 at-cost.

I think those are the same parts that are in the Fighting Edge, if so then I would say so. FE is my current favorite stick.

MKX is out in 6 weeks. We should be getting 1-2 character reveals per week now, if they continue to do them piecemeal. Also a demo soon if the pattern hold true from mk9 and injustice.

The hayabusa stick is fantastic. I'm iffy on the Kuro buttons and while they are supposed to be the same ones used in Vewlix cabinets... they do not feel the same at all. It always feels like sanwas or seimitsus in those cabinets.

lol Smashboards randoms thinking upping the time limit without anything else will make matches shorter because "it discourages timing out"

it's almost like they don't realize a match that goes to 5 minutes and times out is still shorter than a match that goes 5 minutes 15 seconds and doesn't

Arguing against IDs in IRL magic is a tell that they are a baddie and that their opinions can be ignored. This seems like the FGC equivalent.
