I dont find it easy to not be irritated by a comment that does not make sense followed by rounds of applause. I suppose that is why I have been posting here less frequently. I rarely see anyone talking about anything besides drama. There used to be news mixed in to keep things interesting, at least. Around the time when OBS became popular here, it felt like the posting quality took a turn for the worse. Just my two cents. Maybe I am just irritated because I used to love checking this thread all the time, and now I don't. /shrug

I don't know...I just feel like people who worked on the notes patch really put effort into it. I don't see it as fan fic because even with an almost nil chance people put in the effort in the hopes of getting what they wanted, and in the meantime had fun discussing the mechanics of the game in depth.

Are you trying to show evidence of how I tried to help a poster understand how his comparison between games was not relevant, and then the thread was derailed into gif spam and pseudodrama? If not, I don't get it, since that is what happened.
You know, while I appreciate the sentiment, and I am not fond of fan fiction, it does take work. The people (mostly kids, I think) who write it have ideas they want to express, and they give them coherency. A few of my students like to write fan fiction about their favorite anime characters, and they put a lot of effort into it. Then they want to read it to me...

I want to get hyped on a new Capcom fighting game like I was for SFIV and MvC3. I really think it would be wise for Capcom to show us a new hype game at least within the the first half of this year. I know it may not be likely, but I'm hoping. I remember when MvC3 leaked a week early and my buddy had a modded 360, we just played the shit out of it into the early morning. Or going to a mall farther away from the closer mall because the farther mall has copies of SFIV and people were lined up hyping on it outside of Gamestop. We need that hype back.

Serious response but I really do not regret working on it at all. It was fun to work on as it lead to some epic debates. More importantly though lots of knowledge was shared and most of us came out of the thing learning a lot. Like starting out we didn't know Wolverine's cr.L was a fairly slow 6 frame (most people just looked at his st.L which was the expected 4 frame) and could be chicken blocked against after a ground throw tech.
Also at the very least if some higher ups like Combofiend read it then hopefully some of the suggestions influence decisions for future Capcom fighting games. Like we shit on TACs so much in it you would think Capcom might realize that they weren't such a great decision and don't use it for future fighting games.
Even more important, we got it out of our system. I don't think there has been patch talk in over a month... must've been a record.

I didn't really follow up with the feedback much after Capcom Cup but we got a lot of different opinions on it. Some people felt we didn't change enough while others thought we changed too much. Some people liked it, others didn't. I know people like Viscant, Angelic and Combofiend read... definitely got feedback from Viscant (he thought we over buffed Phoenix).
I didn't get much of a common complaint from the various opinions I read which means that we did alright. Everyone had their own nitpicks and opinions which is fine. We actually still have corrections to make on it (like DJHoushen's recommendations) but that's still a way off.
Edit: Also I don't know why shots were fired against Riposte, he had minimal contributions to it.

It's not my disappointment of the generation though. Hard to gauge because I'm pretty good at gauging quality before I get something. Maybe ODST or Mass Effect 3. Probably Mass Effect 3. ODST delivered on probably a 1/4 of the things they promised and was a shell of a game; a DLC expansion marked up to a full game, padded with filler in a shitty open world. Mass Effect 3 though was this haymaker from out of nowhere that just suddenly hit everyone, and I was legitimately excited for where they were going to take the universe. Then when I got into the awesome multiplayer I got hit with a glitch tht wouldn't load my game and Bioware didn't want to patch for over half a year. Yeah, now that's disappointment.
Honestly, I was pretty excited about Sim City before I discovered how small the cities were and how they forced you to pretty much compartmentalize things and remove that freedom of choice. I didn't buy it, but it's up there.

I still can't believe I stayed up and waited through the multiple hour delay only to hear Flex stretch a sub-3 minute song across 22 minutes. It was a moment in history though. The CDQ actually leaked in the time Flex was still rewinding.. but I was compelled to keep listening.

Nintendo doesn't and has never needed support of the competitive communities to push anything. Won't change jack shit in terms of sales. Die hards will buy it anyways for the primary appeal which is nostalgia and fan service. Not sure why even to this day people think that it matters or would turn Nintendo's lemons to lemonade.
As a huge Halo fan, I can definitely see it being up there considering how far it regresses in many places, which just stings harder because of the strides in the story and the new direction which is pretty much a perfectly executed start of a new trilogy off of motherfucking Halo 3.

Is this blow up just over the 100-75 thing? I never thought that was a terrible ratio or anything, especially over such a ridiculously long period of time where stuff like fatigue and increasing specificity of the player match up begins to compromise comparisons of skill.

Curious, what is the value proposition for those rich sponsors? I mean, it would be great, and philanthropy would be even greater, but if philanthropy isn't the reason, then there has to be a value proposition from the FGC in order to attract that money.
As someone who was at Evo when TvC was being played, it's a lot of fun to watch, especially if someone uses one of the two giants on the big screen (there was one giant in the top 8 IIRC).
Of course Marn was wrecking ish with Zero.
The next big event is the Taipei game show, and Ono is set to have a stage presentation. IMO the event doesn't suit the announcement, but if there's a June release date, then this is the only event that I can see it being announced at.
If the release date slips for some reason, then we're going to have to be ready for Evo to play AE. I'd guess that the announcement for the fifth character would be moved there.
This is pure speculation of course.
I have to take the Capcom Cup banner down. I might sneak it in there, but it can't be front and center (for obvious reasons).

And who would react to Brawl bashing? Smash fans were nigh universally disappointed by the game. I bought a Wii just for it. Terrible decision. I wasn't looking for a fight there, I was explaining why people won't pine for Brawl: hardcore fans did not like it.

Well, I am guilty of both! See: my fantasy BoF2 Nina moveset for Marvel, and my inability to go a month without saying I want Palutena in Smash.
I think it is more about why people do it than what they do. I think what we did with Marvel was healthy, but some players basically engage with mechanics fan fiction via complaining about how much better the game would be without X-Factor. You could even see scrubby house rules play like "no throwing" as a kind of fanfic, and that is probably the worst kind. Just my two cents.

Real talk: the best PS4 game is F2P IMO. I really enjoy Warframe. Except for the unstable frame rate when 50+ enemies are on the screen. I have enjoyed it without spending a dime for at least 30 hours now. It has a solid community, too.
