You guys wrote a 100 page fanfic about a Marvel patch.

I think you mean neither.

nah man, my favorite obscure character nobody else in the world gives a shit about will totally be playable!

But smash is gonna come out doe. Some predictions will be right , some will be wrong.

But that patch stuff, that shit is never going to exist.

Talking about the thing that will eventually exist seems a bit more productive, i dunno.

the delusion in that thread makes Romney's camp thinking they had the 2012 election in the bag look reasonable

I think that the delusion that capcom in its current state had enough shit together to produce a marvel patch seems like a far greater stint of momentary insanity

I love the dedication and discussions that went into the Marvel patch notes. Talking about a community getting together and devote themselves to their favorite game
Thanks.
The actual discussions that went on about the game and its mechanics were the most fun.

SF5 is gonna be a la carte buy a character model, right?
I would not be surprised.

Real talk: the best PS4 game is F2P IMO. I really enjoy Warframe. Except for the unstable frame rate when 50+ enemies are on the screen. I have enjoyed it without spending a dime for at least 30 hours now. It has a solid community, too.
Is that where you've been? I haven't seen you online on ps3 for Marvel or AE for a while man.
We should play AE sometime.

difference is dahbomb and co don't spend paragraphs of text attempting to convince people it will actually happen, something that can't be said about SmashGAF

Well I come in here to hide from BusinessGamers and it's all COMMUNITY WARS.

VJC, Halo 4 isn't a contender for biggest disappointment, it's the hands down winner.

Knocking the rust off for Full Boost. Heavy Arms so fun and I don't have to worry about the fact that in pressure situations my BR Zunda turns into a mess of clicking buttons.

War never ends

Being a bit too excited about something that will exist vs fever-dreaming about something that will never happen.

What is more pathetic? You decide!

Both are sad as shit. At least the Smash dudes doing it for a good game doe, still a terrible look.

I'm pretty sure in both cases people are just doing it for fun, but one is based entirely on hype and the superficial aspects of a game while the other in an exercise in game design (i.e., armchair game design). I think you may just be attempting to come off as rude as possible though.

Superficial describes Nintendo's hardcore defenders perfectly though

Perfect.
Why can't people have fun discussing possibilities and wonder what could happen in a game they love?! Damn, no fun allowed....

Agree that Halo 4 wins hands down. Holy fucking shit man.

There's probably other better contenders, but another one off the top of my head is Crackdown 2.

haha, not gonna happen until Nintendo stops being so delusional
although once that happens, smash should naturally fix itself

How do you get that?
Since a majority of smash players don't care about the more technical aspects of the game, and that doesnt stop masihiro sakurai from developing it.

The next good smash game comes when Nintendo's online catches up to MS/Sony and they stop catering to an audience long gone
not before, not after, it's a design philosophy that permeates the whole company

Sounds like they will go a more mobile route.

Possibly. I'm just looking at the general sentiment - that Nintendo finally might realize it can't compete without competing. Market/cultural trends are something you heed not dismiss because you think your game design is transcendent. If a competitive attitude is really what the CEO wants, who knows how that attitude will trickle down into the development of their current game projects.

Probably a long-shot for Smash 4 but I think its a reasonable hope for that game.

I think that statement was more about their console strategies (specifically the Wii U) than their games. Their games still tend to review well and on the DS they sell well too.

Ultimately the design choices of Smash will be made by Sakurai just like the design choices of Wonderful 101 were made by Kamiya. Nintendo didn't try to push Kamiya to make a certain type of game (hardcore or casual).. he made the game that he wanted to make. More than likely the design document for Smash is set and there will be little changes in the future.

The fact that they aren't doing any location tests tells me that they aren't too concerned over making it highly competitive. I also haven't seen any real high level match footage of the game, it's all been specially edited sequences.

I don't trust empty words, I'll wait until I see action to address the underlying cause

exactly. whatever they say is irrelevant considering they havent actually done anything that would lead me to believe they give a shit about the competitive aspect of the game or have learned from past mistakes. even watching the trailer you can tell its going to be a floaty mess brawl 2.0 type deal. i want to be hype, but its tough being excited for a product whose future is 100% visible

Iwata talk a mean game, but at this point its apparent he aint got no stroke game. No third party want to get in bed with him, and the Wii U is fucked no matter what Smash looks like.

you funny.

I would like to live in your fantasy land where a couple thousand people on a stream amounts to anything worth 10 million people.

How your logic even work? No seriously, how do you even come with this? Masahiro sakurai gonna make smash bros how he wanna make smash unless a smash bombs with no fault to the console its on. When a smash bombs on a console that sold like the wii that is when that will go down. Until then you just yelling at a giant.

Smash games had a history of getting loke-testing like no other until recently (Capcom stepped up their game). I wouldn't worry about that. If anything, the lack of loke-test information highlights how far off the game is.

*edit*

And the design of your games has to be a reflection of your larger console strategy. It's a makeshift psycho-analysis, I know. Stop trying to hurt me before I go full Kars up in this bitch.

I dunno how you confused wii casuals with competitive players
probably that defense force mechanism kicking in

Let's not forget about Duke Nukem Forever in the biggest last gen disappointment category.

Halo 4 is definitely up there, the amount of hate this title generated is unfathomable.

I am trying to figure out what this long gone audience is.

c'mon, I don't think anybody expecting that shit to be any good!

I mean, its probably the worst game I've played all generation, but after all this time and horrible mismanagement, you had to expect that, right?
