So I been playing jp version of rival schools and can't figure out the fucking menus but whatever I found this mode where you create a student and it goes into this kinda school sim/fighting thing I think? What a great idea for a single player fg mode. I really hope to see more ambitious single player stuff in the future.

Eh, eh, it's not a great design. It's not even all that original, although I agree I'd be surprised that anyone can work up any sort of emotional reaction that even gets close to outrage.
I just wanted to say that I saw this, and you're on The List. I shan't forget.
PSX was the height of creativity for single player modes. Soul Edge, Tobal 2, Bushido Blade 1, and some others.
Companies don't see the return on that kind of experimentation now. TBH BB could be really janky unless you grok'd what it was going for, that it wanted you to have fun and run through the world, make the fight you wanted to see. Otherwise you could stay in the same area and conclude the game was junk.
Some days I can react with Ultras to Hazanshu's and other days I eat every one.

No lies, you get the proper systems involved to juggle between the (now mostly fleshed out) leads of DMC [maybe something like the action ring from The Last Story] and combine that with DMC's high octane stylin' and this probably wouldn't be reviled as much as you think.
Unless you Capcom it and call it a mainline series entry because "why the fuck not, what does franchise integrity mean again?"
It's just most of the complaints are from people that are like "the 90's could do no wrong in designs" camp.
I'm looking forward to how she plays though. Elphelt didn't click, even though her tools sounded interesting. When put together, it just wasn't what I was looking for.
Been meaning to pick up a character that's exclusive to Xrd, but none have clicked yet.

You can't reason with those folks sad to say. There are some tropes in character design from Japanese media that I'm not a fan of in newer franchises/sequels myself, but I'm still open enough to know that there's an audience for it, it should exist as long as it's not blatantly wrong and you gotta search through it eventually to find the things that you can/do like.
Or you could just be all hip/yelling at clouds and regurgitate Miyazaki.gif again.

I need to play through it to know it doesn't particularly innovate? For games universally praised for doing what they always do well? Any time I've played a post-Galaxy platformer from Nintendo it hasn't exactly reeked of innovation, Epic Yarn had some nifty stuff though. This isn't really a controversial thing either, they've been clearly playing towards evoking those same experiences as that's exactly what their market wants.
I would rage so hard while I gave amazon my credit card number to buy an XB1. So much happy rage.
Edit: Not that I think the list is real, but I don't see MvC4 listed here.
