james chen and ultradavid had an episode on this. Its really wonky. Like you can be +1000000 and you still can't link combos because for whatever reason combos work on in very specific ways and thus even if a move is +10000000 on hit the opponent can still block the next thing.

+20 probably meant you just get free any type of pressure.

Frame advantage on hit -usually- does not allow combos. There are exceptions, most of them from run cancels. It still prevents all inputs other than blocking, so you can force overhead/low options before the advantage ends and you know that they can't attempt a reversal.

yeah. Its weird how they coded the game honestly.

Anyone with Fei like rekkas is someone that I'll automatically be interested in playing.

I like picking high-tier and up, but only if the characters are based on a playstyle that I generally like.


mature has a rekka. Not really that great from what I seen in 13. I remember it being okay in 98.

To be fair, that "concept" of frame advantage/disadvantage is present in a wide range of fighting games, not just Street Fighter. The way MK does some things isn't necessarily wrong or anything but it still stands in contrast to a lot of other fighting games not just Street Fighter.

Yeah but those games abide by the same concept of what frame data is and how it works...nrs threw the whole concept out the window in favor of something which is imo often much less natural and less elegant. it's not just weird it's kinda dumb.

funny enough, I don't play SF outside 3rd strike back in the day. (also I main'd kof98 and 3s for the longest time).

I think its weird because there are some inconsistent things. Like that whole OS that came out and etc. I understand games are different, thats not a problem. I just want to see the decision making when it came to making the game. It was the same in MK9.

Would be down. wonder if a traditional asw fg would sell as much as those arena fighter things they already do for naruto and dbz tho.

HNK was the best game they made so I can see it happening.

I don't? What other game developer would you trust with those kinds of IPs? MAYBE Capcom, but it'd have to be 2D fighting Capcom---not 2.5D fighter.

ASW with Guilty Gear xrd like graphics on a HxH fighter? I'm down. I'm not saying give them the systems of a Guilty or Blaz, but I would trust ASW to give the animes justice in varied fight styles, pleasing to the eye, and making a system that works with the anime in mind. Plus the online would be on point.

ASW is working on that new DBZ butoden game right? That looks pretty awesome. Too bad its stuck on 3ds.

French Bread would be good for it (between what they did with Tsukihime and a bunch of Dengeki Bunko LNs) if they had more than 3 people working out of a cardboard box.

-2 is weird though since, unless MKX frame data is that unlike other fighters, means after a successful throw, my opponent can act before I can.

I know Kotal Kahn also has -2 on his air throw as well.
 
You know fighting games are still ass at netcode when SFxT's netcode is being praised to high heavens.

SFxT is from 2012. SF5 is coming out in 2016. Obviously, there will be improvements.

And, the fact that it was already pretty dang good in 2012, is a good sign for SF5.

The fact that Capcom is already talking rollback is a good sign for SF5.

Not sure where the pessimism is coming from.
 
I'd like to play a Netherrealm made fighter from my favorite anime/game/etc licenses.

I'd like to look at an ASW made fighter based on thing I like.
 
I'd want ASW to do naruto, and see how they'd turn the sharingan, byakugan, the eight gates,gaara's sand defense, etc. into actual game mechanics and balance them against each other.

Capcom should get DBZ. MvC3 is already DBZ as fuck. Nova and Magneto just need Goku and Vegeta skins.

NRS could get Fate/Stay Night.

ASW can have their anime. Just leave the Kill la Killl fighting game to Lab Zero Games. Alex and Mariel will do right by us.
This sounds like a lot of fun lol. Guess I might wait for the PS4 version then or just stick to PC, which might be the smarter choice. I'm liking Big Band, Eliza and Beowulf.
Eliza is excellent, Beowulf is pretty good and Big Band isn't bad. You could probably make a terrifying rushing team out of them.
We have enough trouble as it is when people look at the game. The last thing we need is a crazier fanbase.
They added ping numbers in the patch. The one that took one year to be "approved."
That patch took a long goddamn time. That was a real mess. Luckily Iron Galaxy only improved with each of their releases. A lot of people's opinions on GGPO were forever tainted, though. :/

What ever happened to Treasure in general? Their games always seem to stand the test of time to me.

I know they apparently lost some talent. Last game they made was Gaist Crusher. It looks like they're interested in PC now, though.

Hey, MKX has pretty decent colors.

No idea what it's like now. Hopefully they arent pricks. Makes no sense for one group of nerds to attack another group of nerds for liking the same thing for different reasons.

I feel that in Skullgirl's case the top players hate the casuals because in their opinion they hurt the image of the game.

Time for some love/hate speeches this week...

Lets see...

-Vampire Savior: Love watching Good Jedah, BB Hood, Q-Bee, and Lord Raptor. They're fun characters and play in pretty crazy styles. Only one I guess I'd kinda hate is Sasquatch because he's like a giant fuzzball of doom you can't escape.

-Street Fighter III: A good Q or Makoto are a treat. Q especially because of how strange his style is in comparison to the other characters in the game. Those taunts are so hype.

-Blazblue: Tager for the busters and Hakuman for the counters. I don't like watching Nu-13 because of how lame her keepaway style is. Arakune can be annoying as well, even though I fancy him.

-Street Fighter IV: Love watching good Seth and Gen play to see how well the player can use all their tools. Boxer, Rose, and Zangief play is also appreciated. I'm iffy on Dhalsim play, as well as Fei Long.

-Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Love watching Sentinel, Strange, and Hulk play. Hate looking at Zero and Morridoom. One's like watching a 3 second loop the other is turning the game into a crazy platformer.

That's all I can recall for now.

A rare instance where Beef is actually right(ish). I still laugh every time I see Hard Corps: Uprising and realize they managed to overdesign the shit out of a freakin Contra game! Yeah, a shooter really needs airdashes and parries in it.

You could give them a recipe for a cake and it would come out with 12 meters sticking out of it.

ASW hasn't made a single game that I have enjoyed, so I decided to stop bothering with them and am happier for it.

lots of people on this site, let alone this thread, would do well to follow suit with other companies tbh

dont you hate like every FG that isnt named SF4 or smash bros? :p
