Speaking of blackjack and hookers-

For people who have won money at evo,

How tempting is it to blow all your winnings at a casino right after you win?

If I have been fortunate enough to actually win a side bet at EVO then I usually consider that the extent of my luck and call it a day. I would imagine if you have a tendency for gambling to begin with it could be a disaster waiting to happen. You also have to look out for the usual suspects that try to encourage you to press your luck, it is Vegas after all.

9th place in BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma will actually make more than 3rd through 8th.
Depending on payout structure, maybe even more than 2nd.

I'm sad I always want NRS numbers to be good. Looking forward to seeing quality matches though. People seem a bit razzled about Aquaman these days metagame/spectator wise. I really hope the matches in top 8 are exciting because last year top 16 was where it was at and top 8 was a blowup

My friends who don't really play/watch fighting games watched evo with me last year. We are doing it again this year, but they were really bummed to find out Injustice was back. Hopefully it is has a good showing.
Edit: Holy shit Viscant commentary! YES

I've won more at the casino than most people placing at Evo have the last two years.

I always get too nervous and walk away so I can't say I have ever made it out with a significant increase compared to what I started with. On the plus side I can say I have never actually left with less money than I started.

Injustice top 8 will definitely be better. Aquaman is a hype killer but you always see other characters in there. It'll probably be half top tier and then a few oddballs. Plus the top tier is more varied than it was before, you've got characters like Zod and Bane instead of just multiple Supermen.

Huge gaps like that makes a pot split much more likely, I would think

Not that it matters too much as long as the players are still trying to win. And considering it's EVO I don't think that will be a problem.

They do make pot splits more likely. Quite a few top players know that they have a chance at 6K or 1k and would rather be safe and just split.

They still play to win for trophies and glory though.

It's not like he is going to be getting far in the tourney anyway.

Viscant is one of only 5 players to have made Top 32 in Marvel 3 at Evo every year the game has been there (2011-2013). The others are JWong, Chris G, FChamp, and Flocker.

Koogy loves him some Slayer.

Thanks.

I've just started to notice how classy he is. It's also really interesting to see Slayer players open people up with all of those evasive moves that he has. That's what I see him as versus someone like Ky who seems to get more out of tight block strings with some staggering and the odd overhead/projectile pressure.

OMG! Viscant is the true fifth god of Marvel!!

it would be funny if this year both Yipes & Viscant make it to top 8

If they can get the gameplay up to the level of the (insane) graphics in MKX that game could really blow up. It's so pretty.

He's a slumbering Old God, spreading madness throughout the land.

Are you playing +R? I'd be down to play games anytime if you actually are. It'd actually make me start practicing Baiken again.

Please add Baiken to Xrd Arcsys!

Justin will win UMVC3 and KI. Daigo will win Ultra SFIV. Some Japanese guy will win Blazblue. Mango will win Melee. Some Korean will win TTT2. Honda player will win SSF2T. Some non-American will win KOF.

Pretty solid predictions outside of Daigo winning USFIV.

injustice confirmed most exciting game because we don't know the winner yet

wesker bald blade and jill

neo morpheus and trinity

team matrix YEAH

imo, the only person who isn't 'beatable' in the same way as every other 'god tier' player of the game in tournament is chris g. he's got the combination of team and skill to minimalize the mistakes and possibilities for victory that occur during the regular course of the game. morrigan/missiles/vergil is a disgusting, disgusting team and it equally disgusts me that in my mind the only 'solid' way to even contest it is with other characters i despise (vergil and zero on point)

i think everyone else is beatable by local/"unknown" high-level players. the issue being that a lot of those guys don't have as much tourney experience so they mess up somewhere due to nerves and lose what should've been a winning match

if someone like justin magically attuned himself to how zmc operates it'd be the same deal but thankfully nobody at that player skill level has really attuned themselves to a zero team like that yet. flocker's the closest they got as representation but even then that's not quite jwong/pr rog level of player skill happening there

what about my dawg senor taxi

There was this one EVO where he had a really poor performance because his team was garbage (Wolverine/Spencer/Wesker). I can't remember if it was top 32 or not but he got eliminated really quickly.

ChrisG will win Marvel.

Someone from Japan will win SF4. Not Daigo.

As for KoF... do you include anything south of the Rio Grande?
