Fighting Games Weekly | June 8-14 | We played a lot of SG and VF for some reason

That sounds like the sort of thing that non-FG players imagine how the genre works. Oh it's all about this crazy obtuse tech and 64-minute combos. Basically, that every fighting game plays like the HnK fighter.

As for why most players aren't aware of it... it's not documented anywhere, either in game or by the community. Even the biggest fighting games aren't in the situation where games like LoL or Hearthstone are, where people are getting paid (even if it's not much) to produce content regarding those games. So anything done for FGs is purely a passion project, and that tends to wear down quickly when you run into sheer amounts of apathy and stupidity that you can find on the Internet.

All this really says is that due to the very nature of a fighting game the developers can never actually teach anyone how to play on a competitive level.

It also says that "putting effort into getting good" is a bullshit concept, because even "competitive" players only reach the point at which they are comfortable and then stop.

Fighting games are hard. That's my opinion. Wish they were more fun though.

Dizzy is a software developer. In what part of his job description is pro gaming?

Look if you want to ride sonic fox so much, put on a fur suit and take it outside of this thread.

Freaking awesome.

Iirc Juicbox mentioned (on a stream?) that the netcode is actually really good even though GGPO hasn't been implemented yet (he and others are playing the beta), it should become even better once it is.

Sweet. I'm actually in the beta, but I havent bothered playing it. Guess now that the release date is a month away I should get to practicing.

I have one, but would have to burn an XBL Gold code to play.

1) Hold down-back Faultless when on wakeup/leaving blockstun > Transition to up-back Faultless just before you throw invulnerability wears off > Transition back to down-back. If you go back a few days on Lord Knight's Twitter, he had a good recommendation for how to train it with Sol dummy recordings.

2) Survives and pushes back low/mid meaties, jumps out of tick throws (sometimes air blocking the normal that comes out), and goes back to blocking some delayed lows in blockstrings.

3) Meaty overhead, quick stagger double/delay low to catch prejump (potentially a air unblockable mid works too?), airthrow, make them burn their meter so they fail to FD, and probably some things I'm forgetting as I realize I'm late for work.

Thank you! Will things be altered due to revelator's addition of throw tech? hmm

It's a meh game but I'm surprised that after all this time they've still have yet to add GGPO. Jeeze. And the netcode is terrible as-is.

Huh? Are you sure you aren't mistaking this for the old version?

AoC is the new one made via kickstarter funds and has new characters, moves etc. and improved netcode and will also get GGPO.

Whoever bought the Fighting Commander 4: How easily does it work on PC, and have you tried using it with retro emulators (ie. Visual Boy Advance and whatnot, Fightcade probably goes without question)?

I have the FC4 and played USFIV, KOFXII, MKX and ST with Fightcade with it, no problems

I've only used it with some SNES emulators, but it's plug and play in both ps3 and ps4 modes. I've used it for a bunch of PC fighters, Mame, FBA.

Ugh, I really hope KI doesn't come to PC. I say this because I feel it will separate the player base. Don't kill the player count.... Does the word "exclusive" mean anything anymore?

There'd have to be a dramatic change in MS policy for them to allow cross play.

Which is wild, because they allowed it in the 360 era.

Isn't that a windows 10 thing?

Xbox is coming to Windows3

Get the biggest Xbox franchises with the best of Xbox Live. Start recording gameplay in seconds, compete against console players, and stream games from your Xbox One console to your Windows 10 device from anywhere in your home.

Could be misunderstanding it tho

I'm waiting to see how Yatagarsu is received by more people once it does release.

Also how the online will fair on Steam.

If a GAF community forms then I may pick it up. MAYBE.

Had a really fun online session in VF5FS over the weekened, spending a few days with a tutorial while playing arcade mode really paid off. Felt way more in control and even nabbed some wins.

Played it during the day and didn't have problems finding matches, player matches seemed dead but ranked looked active, usually got matched with someone within seconds.

It's interesting how natural the gameplay feels once you have a basic idea of the flow of offence and defense. Feels like you can do well even if you stick to basics. Think I'm clicking with Jean as much as I am because he feels like an extension of Ryo from KOFXIII.

Was also surprising how spammable various moves seemed to me in actual matches but later while hitting practice mode to see the frame data showed how bad a lot of those moves are on block, most fully punishable. So the rule I guess is if a move seems good, especially on hit, then there is a good chance it's pretty punishable, even if they don't look like it visually. Looking forward to shutting these moves down next time.

Why not cross play instead?

Only if this is done, will I be okay with it. Same goes for any other Xbox "exclusive" being brought to PC. Halo, Gears, Forza, etc. Make it cross play. Don't sacrifice the player count. Though a shooter game is probably going to have an advantage on PC, from what I hear, playing on a mouse and keyboard is way more accurate if you know what you're doing.

Don't worry, at least your remarks won't make it into the title of an FGW thread
The FGW Administration promises nothing.

Microsoft bends it's policies all the time to accommodate changes in the marketplace/their goals. It can happen, or maybe they're waiting to implement it properly in first party/establishing internal protocols before opening it up to third parties.

Yeah I think this is just simply streaming the X11 feed to your PC and having your PC transmit inputs. Kind of a cool feature I guess but I don't see it being a game changer.

The poll they did on their forums a little while back said to "assume cross-play is supported."

If it comes to PC, it's getting cross-play.

Has Capcom been accused of disrepecting the fanbase yet today?
They announced a new product, it's pretty inevitable. There's a Megaman fan someone absolutely livid that this is not Rockman & Forte 2: The Future is Now.

Question about the Fighting Commander 4: It looks like it has R1/R1 buttons to the right of ABXY, but it still has four shoulder buttons. Does that mean the controller has two R1 and two R2 buttons?

wooooooooooow.

They havent learned their lesson from what Sony did with USF4.

The collection would've been in development long before USF4 was released on PS4.
It's not like they just announced it and have started the porting process.

One of my favorite pieces of SF art of all time.

And made a thread for Yatagarasu. I hate making threads. I always think I'll get banned for some reason.

Thanks

Are these still Chun-censored?

From what I've seen there is some ChunLi, but you do get to see other characters like Alex for example.

I have to admit, I've never fully groked Tekken's movement and it always drove me nuts whenever I played. In most other FGs I've played, if I can get enough of a bead on a player's movement, I can blow them up for being too predictable. However, in Tekken I don't get how to stop someone from backdashing (and then canceling those backdashes into whatever) all over the place. On walled stages there's something to be said about just letting themselves back up into a wall, but on infinite stages that always felt really, really annoying to deal with.

In Tekken the best reply to a person constantly turtling with their movement is to simply turtle yourself. You keep yourself at a certain range and then just block and see how your opponent is going to reply. It becomes a deep game of chicken and the person to make the correct read over the other will prevail. And if the other player is just blocking constantly you know you can eventually begin a mixup game once you get the pattern of their defense down. But also, the other player needs to be completely spot on for their defense. I can't tell you how many times I got clipped for not being able to properly cancel my backdashes or sidewalks and block right after.

I took care of that for you already.

In the GC/PS2 era, we got a classic Mega man collection that had games 1-8. Now we are getting a new title with games 1-6, and it really should be 1-10 at this point. Pretty lame.
