Can't Evil Ryu sweep after short tatsu on most characters now? Is it not worth using because of delayed wake up?
He can, I use it all the time. But Daigo prefers to play the in your face mind games. At a certain range he can kara throw you, but he could easily back off just a bit to make your wake up normal whiff and punish with far MK(which goes over lows). Or he could whiff punish with something into a FADC combo which does huge damage. Then their is the OS sweep if he thinks you're going to try and back dash out or back dash if he thinks you're going to do a wake up reversal and punish you very hard for it. And their is still the hop kick or frame trap on top of that.
Evil Ryu has a few ways to react to DWU, I use them when I go for tatsu sweep. But like I said, Daigo has committed to this way of pressuring opponents on wake up. It's actually pretty similar to the way he pressured with Ryu. Evil Ryu just gives him for options though. I've been using that shimmy into far MK for years, but normally only in the corner. I like the pressure with jump ins mid screen where as Daigo does that shimmy along with all that other stuff I mentioned anywhere on screen.
