Fighting Games Weekly | September 3-9

oh goddamnit chris g just when i was finally feeling akuma on your team, you go and do magnus? he'll probably not drop akuma (i hope ::::((((((

I don't understand why he needs TACs when Viper can Tod solo or set up unlockables. Its like going for tacs with Zero.

Marlin should definitely at least consider Strider. Whatever team he loses in terms of match ups against Viper is certainly going to beast on Doom too.

He'll be weaker? Already it's pretty obvious that he doesn't spend that much time in the game anymore, the last thing he needs is more execution and more opportunities for dropped combos. Doom TACs are a huge part of his gameplan anyway so I have a hard time seeing how he's better off without Doom.

I know, that's why the latter part of my post was me saying the same thing. :P

So, what are the chances of KOF getting bumped off stream for Persona next week on TRB? I don't want to see KOF go.
i think offcast here said they would stream all 3. although i'm sure at some point the one with less entries will end up being off stream.

Offcast said that he's going to be experimenting and playing around with the time allocation, seems like it'll be a massive challenge to distribute the stream time of 3 games. And I bet we'll end up with a ton of "F*** KOF and Persona, where's Marvel?" My guess is that it'll probably be something like 10% KOF/30% Persona/60% UMvC3 next week and 30% KOF/10% Persona/60% UMvC3 the week after that.

i think a lot of the kof guys in socal are playing persona so they might keep each other alive or even make their communities stronger in the long run so it was kinda of a good idea putting them together. although truthfully i hardly ever watch the runback anymore so i'm not gonna make a fuss about persona being streamed.

There will also be weeaboos saying "fuck marvel."

We'll be alternating p4a&kof13 + showing gf from each game. P4a might have a side stream setup like vf5 too not sure yet since its up to xie if he feels like doing it that Thursday.

On one hand, a side stream for P4A would be good for me because that means I can watch P4A as much as I want and switch to KOF or Marvel if I want. But then, I hope pushing it off the official stream like that doesn't kill the game's exposure. For some reason, it seems people think that if a game isn't streamed, it isn't being played. :(

Hey everyone,

I'm going to do my best to showcase each game as best as possible each week. Right now the focus is to highlight the middle rounds of P4A and KOFXIII. Right now Grand Finals are kind of redundant for both those games so I can see people getting burnt out on that. I also want to try to give the east coasters some West Coast Marvel before they go to bed since that is one of the common complaints regarding TRB. Like I always say it is a work in progress and I'll be looking at feedback.

That being said you can scope out the schedule for The Runback tonight here

Hope to catch some of y'all later!

I'm at east coast time and I love KOF13 so I'm always happy to see some high level KOF play, I understand people's need for marvel though so I support what you're doing. I just need my weekly fix of romance/bala/reynald for one match and I'm good.

Love WNF and TRB, keep at it

for anybody big on KOF: What do team dynamics have to do with anything? Does that dude who won EVO have a particularly amazing team? Is it even close to Marvel in complexity of lineups?

The team dynamic is not as complicated as marvel, but it does emphasize the importance of battery characters a lot more than marvel because of how powerful HD combos are. So it's usually a rule of thumb to have a character that does decent damage without meter on point and then 2 meter whores in the back to spend the meter. There are also some slight character match-up mindgames going on since you can switch the order of your team, so players may attempt to switch up their order to ensure the best match-ups for their team.

Mad KOF's team isn't that good when strictly looking at character tiers, but it still follows the same rule. Duo Lon doesn't need meter to do damage and is very self efficient, Chin does huge damage with Drive Cancels, and finally Kim has a HD combo that does decent damage and has multiple ways to confirm into. He mostly won by Bala's initial unfamiliarity with Duo Lon and how Duo Lon pretty much hard countered his Billy, and by the time he had figured it out, he had already lost a set and Mad KOF had figured Bala out.

Mostly has to do with meter management. Some characters are great batteries, only need a few meters, need a lot of meter, etc.

Bala uses Shen, who is one of the best anchors, because he has effective combos for each level of meter.

It's less to do with how well your characters do in dealing with stuff, and more to do with how well the player does in dealing with stuff. Changing your team order or picking a different character helps with match ups, but it still ultimately falls on the player to figure out how to deal with it.

Duo Lon ran a train over Bala, not his characters.

Multiplayer: Can we look forward to any more balancing or patches to Street Fighter X Tekken in the near term?

Ayano: We are in the process of rebalancing Street Fighter X Tekken right now actually! I can’t say exactly when the free balance patch will be released, but it will definitely address a lot of issues that players have with the gameplay right now. We have done our best to listen to community feedback and implement fixes accordingly, so please keep your eyes peeled for more news and information on this!

Unfamiliarity? Bala himself used Duo Lon casually and in tournament before EVO, and still uses him.

MADKof simply outplayed Bala, completely.

Sure, you're right. I'm not actually trying to take anything away from MadKof (I was rooting for MadKof), I did mention that MadKof pretty much had Bala figured out in the later set. But during the initial set where Bala was desperately trying to deal with Duo Lon did make me feel he didn't know what to do against Duo Lon.
