And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Yeah. I'm hoping Zack's final scene is toned down when we get to that flashback.
"toned down"? What?

I'll just say that if the actual game has writing on the same level as this trailer, it should be enough for everyone to buy it =XI liked that line a lot.
But yeah, I'll post a here a list of all the games where Nomura worked on more than just character design that had turn-based/atb combat:
1-
Not knocking your opinion, but "blinded by nostalgia goggles" is rarely a good argument. For a lot of people, the combat was absolutely a defining feature alongside the other defining features like the world, story progression, atmosphere, etc. I know people that played the game for the first time a few years ago and say the battles were some of the best parts.
"toned down"? What?
He was the battle director for 7 and 8.
May not count, but there's also that one part of Kingdom Hearts Coded that's turn-based.
Further thinking about it, how would anybody here feel if...
1. They integrated Advent Children as a playable section of the game?
2. The set up a further Sequel beyond AC? Imagine where Denzel is grown up, following the footsteps of Cloud. Imagine an Older version of Cloud, grizzled and experienced like Auron.
Uggghh. The possibility.
Sure it wasn't the battle system that made FFVII the legendary game it is, since after all it has the same exact one as the previous and latter instalments with different sub-systems. However, the reason most people still prefer to have SE keep the battle system ATB is because turn-based JRPG is getting more rare and rare nowadays especially on the console medium and what FFVII had was actually pretty solid. Just need some modern touch up like the ability to skip long summon animation plus addressing the random encounter without some sort of encounter slider or making visible enemies on the field.
You bet if there were healthy amount of turn-based JRPG on the market right now, people would be less reluctant of changing the battle towards more action-based.
No it wasn't the exact same system. It brought about the limit break system and the materia system eliminated specific characters having specific roles during combat. It also brought about the ridiculous summons that were minutes long but looked insane.
So who is the real antagonist then? Jenova or sephirorth?
I actually liked how the original never made it clear if Sephiroth or Jenova was the mastermind. I kind of hope the remake keeps that.So who is the real antagonist then? Jenova or sephirorth?

^ FF7 was on PC and PS1 back 20 years ago, it'll be the same here eventually.
After everything is said and done, the only thing i really want Nomura and whomever is apart of this project to do is to follow what they want to make for this version of FF7.
Don't worry about external forces or 'living up to fan interpretation', it'll just end up with people unhappy anyway, that's inevitable. Just stay the course and do what you imagined for a FF7 remake.
Whatever comes out is what we get.
Definitely not Jenova. It's been dead for centuries. Sephiroth is in full control of Jenova's cells.
So either Sephiroth or Hojo.

This.
Sure, you fight Jenova a few times but the one in control of the whole thing via the lifestream etc was Sephiroth.
I see Hojo as Big Bad No 2 because he was trying to help his son and was bat shit crazy and even though you fight Jenova she, or it, was probably never in full control of what was going on and as a cosmic virus she had pretty much died when the Cetra imprisoned her.
my wishlist for ff7r:
-lots of qte's

This was such a goofy moment.this guy?

he seems pretty chill.
the heck?
There's the thread about what moments need to remain, but realistically what do you think will go?
I think the goofy Cloud in wheelchair sequence will just be him in a hospital bed in Mideel. I also don't expect Fort Condor to have a minigame, but maybe.
One of Jenova's abilities was mind control, if I remember correctly.
A good amount of enemies will certainly disappear they simply cant make ~ 100 different enemie models like in the past i would be to expensive i think.
I just hope they keep some weird ones

Relax you guys. That was obviously a joke. If lots of QTE doesn't already give it away, FFXV doesn't even have random encounters.QTE? Seriously?
The only thing I worry is square won't be able to re create the atmosphere of using pre rendered backgrounds into a full on 3d world.
As you posted in the other thread, the one guy in the Shinra Mansion that swings on a giant blade is my favorite. Some of his animations are hilariously overdramatic.
I just started Disc 2 before calling it quits for the night. An immaculately paced game that still holds my rapt attention on what has to be my 6th or 7th playthrough (lost count). It's been 6 years since I've played it last.
I cba playing ff 7 original again. I get bored after 30 minutes and have purposefully avoided playing it for years in hope of a remake.
I think I've had around six or seven full playthroughs over the past 18 years, myself.
Game just. Never. Gets. Old.
