Yeah I always thought the original Cloud was kind of like a point-and-click adventure game protagonist. You know, the kind of protagonists who go around stealing stuff, talk sarcastically all the time, lie to all the NPCs, yet is rather naïve, is often made fun of, etc. Kinda like a Japanese Guybrush Threepwood.

Hmmm...well i was after the big war and he was reflecting on Aeris a lot and wondering what was going on with the Sephiroth's clones.
I think it's pretty easy for Cloud to be depressed, but I don't think it should be the dominant aspect of his personality like AC was.

Man, so good to see Cloud again.
Cloud was supposed to be depressed. The whole point of the movie was getting over his inhibitions tying him down and moving forward with his life along with the people he cared about.
I hate this overused term of emo for actual mental instability.
Crisis core was his original self where he was an affable young man but still dejected over not achieving his dreams and promises. In FF7 he was a guy who thought he was everything he really wasnt, overlaying someone else's personality onto his and all kinds of fucked up. And in AC, he was as stated, at the end released from everything that had come before.

Agreement. His demeanor in AC was well justified. It'd be interesting to see how he's doing post AC. I know we saw a glimpse in DoC but from what I understand it wasn't much.
DoC was mostly Vincent's show, so Cloud wasn't really shown at all. But when he was shown, he was shown to have fully gotten over avoiding people, actively working as a group again with Tifa(ahem and Barret), to stop the current threat that was destroying the planet.

This! This is what I like to see. Shame that the 3D art won't look anything like this, but at least Nomura knows what a 2D cloud looks like. Nomura really is a fantastic concept artist, independently of what I think of his other work.

I actually think the world they were trying to create beyond the scope of the original FF7 was really interesting
(there are plenty of other factions and things about the Cetra's and the heavenly aliens that dwelled along with Jenova in that universe, it wasn't just Sephiroth and Shinra the whole time).
But it was killed because it was tied to a horrible game.

The 'original real' cloud strife was actually in Crisis core according to the actual writer of both the original game and the compilation(nojima). What we saw in FF7 was a person with multiple personality disorder.
Of course the game itself was somewhat goofy and less serious which lended to that thematic. But the actual subject matter contained(especially considering Shinra and what they were doing) was absolutely serious.
I think its is a fallacy to dismiss what came before and afterward because of some sort of misconception.
I really hope they don't stupid whiplash moods where like
Dyne throws himself off a mountain cause he went insane because almost his entire family and town got burned to ashes by Shinra company and then suddenly CHOCOBO RACING!
They can absolutely improve this game. It may be a classic, but it wasn't perfect at all.

"Let's mosey" is at the end of the game. Well after the Mideel "fix Cloud's mind" segment.
That's a pity.
I look forward to checking it out then. I can get passed the gameplay being bad if the story is good or at least interesting enough.

It was established in the original game that Cloud was emulating Zack far more than himself. It wasn't until towards the end after Cloud and Tifa fell into the lifestream that he dropped the mask. Obviously that's not to say Cloud himself doesn't have any attitude. It's just not as prominent as his Zack persona was.
I do wonder how much of his Zack persona stuck with him afterwards.
So am I, FFVII is my all time favorite. I want this remake more than any game on the horizon.

That's not true. At the end of the game (well, after hojo's battle), Cloud finds himself and he changes, he is not sad or confussed anymore and he arrives to a "stable" status near to the happiness. Advent Children ruined all the character's development showing us a sad Cloud.

I'm hoping for something like what they did in AC. Some orchestral, some electronic, but all a big step up from the original tracks (IMO).
Screw the battle system, they change the orchestration on songs like this I will flip my shit. Those creepy synths are what make Midgar Midgar.

I wish Cloud would of been a bit more cheery, though I can't imagine with all the crap falling apart around you it'd be hard to crack a smile.

Yeah, seeing Cloud with a smile, even if it's just a rough illustration, has me hopeful that they'll portray his character right in this game.
Exactly, Cloud had a full character arc during FFVII.
The lesson here is that Nojima should never write sequels, it's good that FFVII is only a remake.

Well, that's great if true. But of course I was mainly going off of the Teaser vid which clearly shows off AC characters
I hope we get an option like FFX on PS4 to switch between the old Ost and whatever they do with the new one.
It'll probably be similar just due to the fact that they are realistic models. But AC was 10 years ago.
