@CCIE, please don't stop playing, you would just regret your investment even more. Just be aware that "good enough" does not equal to "optimal". I feel for you, I went on a pulling craze trying to get Chiz earlier, and I still don't have her. But first, that optimal status is only temporary, and second we don't actually need all that! We can clear current content with far from optimal units, and it will always be the case.
"Future-proofing" is the best marketing argument Gumi would come up with if asked, and it's the worst reason to pull. We don't need tanks right now, so don't spend too much on a tank. Chances are you'll naturally get one with the few following banners anyway, and you'll be all setup by the time you actually need one. Like I finally got a Bartz while I was looking for a WoL.
We have to accept that we won't be able to possess all the good units. Period. They feel somehow accessible right now with a 4* entry fee (which is extremely deceptive, but is helped with the tons of people posting their success stories, myself included), but when the 5* arrive, we need to absolutely be ready for disappointment with the pulls. Otherwise we enter the casino-roll "I'll try anyway", followed by the "I'll roll again so the previous try was not for nothing" endless cycle.
