So being I'm still early in the game (haven't even gotten healer yet, she left to find something). I have a 3 star ExDeath but have enough mats to awaken him to 4 stars. Should I wait for the endgame to pull a 4 or 5 star Exdeath out of a summon or just awaken him now?
Awaken him now. At lvl 26 he will learn firaga/blizzaga/thundaga and he will then become pretty useful

He's a fantastic damage based mage... one of the best in the game. Your chances of getting a 4 star version of him are slim, and a 5 star wouldn't be out of the question but EXTREMELY rare.

Definitely awaken him, there is no guarantee you will ever pull another one, let alone a 4 or 5*!
All of this sounds so overwhelming and complicated to me. There's a ton of materials, and a ton of way of using them, and crafting them, and requirements and all that. I'll check out the INT chamber; is that the nian beast one?
I'm gonna awaken mine but it seems to take a while since I need x2 pearl of wisdom, x5 mystic ore, x2 farplane dew and x5 sacred crystals just to awaken him to 4*.So being I'm still early in the game (haven't even gotten healer yet, she left to find something). If you need Sacred Crystals I've been getting 1 pretty regulary from the Awakening INT Vortex. Pretty easy too, 10 NRG.

No it is not the nian beast one. There is a Vortex mission called Awakening Chamber (or Chamber of Awakening or something), its the INT version of that.

I forget how new players basically have to build up all the common mates that we have stockpiled for months and months since global launch
Thankfully the main story campaign doesnt get too hard except for a few difficulty spikes here and there. Keep pluggin away at them (especially explorations) and youll be swimming in mats
Also be sure to run the Enchanted maze like crazy every time it rolls around
But one of my biggest problem is that I run out of space for my materials, and thus have to sell some of them, or buy extra slots which costs me a lot of lapis.

Thats lapis well spent
Youll want to plan to continuously expand slots based on necessity. Dont be afraid to do it since its very worth it
Youll want to prioritize slots in this order
1. Friends (evenutally build up to 100 friends if you can)
2. Materials (this fills up the quickest and can become a limiting factor quite often when farming)
3. Units - Do this in phases. 50 > 100 > 150 etc as needed as your unit pool expands and you begin stockpiling cactuars, pots, and dupes for TMs. Try not to sell rare units. Make a plan to either earn the TM or expand inventory instead. With the latest summon changes some units are going to be incredibly hard to get that have very useful TMs
4. Equipment - Lower on the list but still important. Just expand this little by little as needed
As a new play you have mountains of potential lapis ahead of you with Missions so make goals and good investments in slots so you dont lose out on valuable resources you need
As far as materials at LEAST keep one full stack of 99 for each one.

The Sword of Loto is a Great Sword actually.
I looked at the Randi information. He's very good overall but I'm slightly disappointed they didn't buff his attack mods as much as they should have. 215% on Slice Thrice/Triple Slash is the same as it was when he was released in JP. So he won't be putting put the big damage like other characters will be until he gets his Enhancements. He'll be a powerhouse on Beasts and Dragons though which is kinda nice.

I knew it. There was no way something that powerful was going to be given away relatively cheaply as a "free" piece of gear.
Loving the Reddit dumpster fire over Randi. Even after the datamine, most of them are still screaming "dumpster trash". That, and "50k for the axe"? "Screw that, I'll go TM farm the Viking Axe for that kind of effort."

He's probably about even with 6-star Firion which is about right.
If they give Randi the the same ability enhancements he has in JP down the line, dear god he's gonna be ridiculous.

So for this build with Randi, you have to forego his Full Break materia. Hmm.

His Full Break materia is not great. It's actually 25% debuffs so it's a little weaker than the standard one. It just does a little more damage than the standard full break. It's nice to have though!

Sigh. Free pull is Gold. That auto counts it as being trash/troll/whatever. And while normally I would appreciate this, there are STILL GOLDS that would be nice to have, but apparently I just can't have. It ended up being Chizuru. My fourth.

I've not had a great deal of luck with pulls since I last posted, getting a lot more of the trashy units like Luna, Clyne etc. However, I did get my 1st Hayate on my first free Lunar pull, which was nice
However, today I got my 2nd ever Rainbow crystal...
It was Ludmille. I have 6 of him already, so that sucks.
Still no 5*, but I'm sure my day will come too! On a brighter note, I've managed to finally get DW & I'm very close to BM and Minerva Bustier, so happy there.
I have about 80% in Moogles though, but I'm unsure whether to get a 2nd DW or actually get a good Katana for Chizzy in Saka...

Its in the vortex of desires( along with some other ones). Every day you can pick one of the types of dungeon to unlock for free (to unlock others in the same day it costs lapis, do not do this), so just pick awakening on that list and have fun grinding the INT version lol.

Well, alt had a terrible free pull and 1/2 pull. But on a good note, I've caught up on all the story and done all the explorations. Yay. I was so far behind a couple weeks ago hahaha. Now to get caught up on the Earth Keys and move on to Gale Keys. I have a lot of lapis I can get from the things in story and explorations, but meh. Not feeling like putting in that kind of work right now. Just feeling good I'm caught up on story at this point.

I've got to finish up the story myself. Still have about 8-10k worth of lapis from all the missions that I need to do. Since Orlandu isn't coming for at least two weeks I think I may put TM farming on hold for a week or two and build up the lapis reserves.

Sounds like a good idea. On my main around Christmas/New Years I was doing the Lapis hoarding from them. Finished story on main yesterday up to current point. Only Lapis bits left there are ones that require some work, probably like a batch of lower levels so I don't ROFLstomp it too quick. Haha.
How far from end are you on story? Current continent story patches are so short that by time you get into it you're done, ugh. :/ Though some interesting things happen. At least I think they're interesting for what the story is.

Oh thanks. I did it, and for some of the items I needed. I mostly only have 100 lapis all the time, so I expanded my material with 5 slots.

IIRC: Current Number of Stars * 20 = Max Level.
So units with 6 star max are the best.
Sakafu done for Noctis, Blade Mastery will be done tonight for Luneth. He'll back up to 700ATK soon, Noctis is just shy of 800.
Once Black Cowl and Bracer finish, he'll be low 800s. Where his max point is for now with me.
I'll probably try to grab a few TMs on the FFII banner. Specifically hoping for One Leon and One Shine. Give the Leon to Luneth, and Shine to Noctis.
Noctis will be at One DW, one BM, Creation and Shine's 30. Making him complete. I'll be sticking a ruler ring on him when they come around too.
Luneth will hopefully have Leon's, BM, and hopefully Giglamesh's trial 30. With two Ruler Rings or one and his own TM. I think I would rather expand his HP and MP pool a bit more.
But that should net both of them being 900ATK.

Correct myself here. Max levels:
1 star = 15
2 star = 30
3 star = 40
4 star = 60
5 star = 80
6 star = 100
Note 1: When you awaken you reset current level to 1.
Note 2: When you awaken your bonus stats capacity (stat pots) increases, so you'll be able to enhance with more pots. You do not lose any bonuses you've already gained.

Well, for the everloving hell of it I did a 500 lapis pull (and not a ticket?!) on the banner.
I seriously thought the rainbow was going tot roll me with some unit I already had and all but discarded. Or gave me a Xiao because thats what would happen. First rainbow in a long, long time (since DKC, I believe).

Another question. So does that mean after I awaken him to four stars, he keeps his attack stats and others, or does he go down a bit?

I don't remember for sure if their stats go down, but even if they do it is worth it to awaken them (unless youre awakening say a 5* to a 6* and aren't going to be bale to level them at all for some reason and will need them for something time sensitive, like an event) because by the time you get them leveled again they will be far superior to their previous form. You get new abilities and more stats as you level again.
