I was playing it on mobile, but I prefer playing on PC
I wonder if it's possible to import the save?

For what it's worth, the screen for cloud data says "same account", but I was not given any option to link steam account with square enix account or whatever in the launcher or in-game.

I hiiiighly doubt it, but who knows.

Jesus, that achievements list looks insane. I'm probably the only one that cares about achievements on Steam but I was hoping for something decent since FF9 is one of my favorite games. I loved getting 100% for FF7 on PC, it took me about 100 hours. Here, there are so many missables that it looks like it could take several playthroughs and 200 hours at least... I don't think I'm going to have the patience for this. My last hope is that the trophy list will be better in the eventual PS4 release.

That said, the framerates on the FMVs are still low. You can't create frames that weren't there in the first place of course, so who knows if they were created that way originally or not. You can use frame interpolation to get "best guess" intermediate video frames, but that probably falls right in line with "redrawn background art" as something that wasn't likely to happen.

Interpolation would drive people up the wall for the same reason that real-time interpolation on HDTVs do ;p

And considering the cost of rendering FMVs I'd be very surprised if they'd rendered more frames than necessary just to throw them away.

Here are a few images from my desktop on my 4:3 display. As you can see, GUI is pretty good overall but is very large--especially the combat stuff. This isn't a huge problem because most of the screens are similar to their PSX counterpart, so the only times we're not getting the most out of our real-estate is in long lists like your inventory. Playing it with an Xbone controller and the analog stick isn't fully supported like it was on the PSX, which bites. FF8 had the same problem, as did FF7 (though I tolerate it in the latter since FF7 never supported analog). I see that it has mouse support and I'm wondering how well that will work with my tablet PC's touch screen when I try it later.

Loving the large UI. It's so crisp and clean, and I can comfortably sit on the sofa and not squint like I have to with FFXIV.

Well in fairness, you could say the same about the resolution.

Interpolation is terrible when you're talking about 120Hz video on an HDTV, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad just bringing 15Hz up to 30. But of course it's all a matter of what SST had time and budget for.

Interpolation is worse at lower framerates, actually.

It works fine, but..

I didn't have an issues with my Xbone controller. Windows 7, if that makes a difference... I will check on my Win8.1 machine later. Controller was plugged in and active before I launched the game.

I'm going to guess its because there are less frames available so the "guess" frames look really jarring between transitions? Higher frame rate is better because there are more frames to average the change with.

The more important part is that you're looking at the fake frames for longer.

Yeah, it seems it's fine for most people. But I've read some reports like that.
You can also alt-tab so the game will recognize the controller.

That's dumb. I wanna play it from Big Picture Mode.

Yeah, that would be problematic. Maybe they'll fix it later, sounds like a minor issue with easy fix.

its the most boring ps1 final fantasy imo
its not terrible but I couldn't finish it
tetra master minigame is fun though
I agree with you there. Gave the game 3 chances from disc 1 to 3, each playthrough I gave up on the third disc. It was to boring I didn't feel like beating it. Doesn't help that the combat is slow as hell.

I'm not sure if you were joking but I'm currently clicking to make Zidane move.

(I guess that functionality was already kinda on the mobile version)

edit: Nope, only movement. Interacting with stuff requires keyboard

Of course I'm not joking! It would've been nice to be able to play it using just a mouse, but as long as the DS4 actually works with this version (as opposed to the Android version), it's alright.

I think I prefer these muddier looking backgrounds to legend of heroes crisp looking but kind of boring copy/paste texture style world. I guess I'll be a better judge once I finally play the game though.

I think I have it worse...

I just wrote them a ticket about this. They probably won't fix it but who knows... perhaps the right person will get the ticket and decide to fix this since it would only take up to 10-30 minutes, right?

The only missables are Excalibur 2, Athlete Queen, and Jump-Rope King. The first isn't something you wanna do outside of a dedicated speedrun anyways, Jump Rope is easy with practice/patience, and Athlete Queen...well fuck, there's probably a way to cheese it or something. The rest aren't as bad and can be revisited before Disc 4.

I bought a Playstation back in the day because FF9 would be the first one I couldn't play on PC. I guess I should have just waited.

never played FFIX. Liked VI, didnt liked VII that much. IX looks more like VI, so i should like it? :D

Can you activate/deactivate the Turbo Mode Booster (for combats) with an XBox Controller or do you always have to press a button on the keyboard?

edit: Steam forum says you can activate boosters with the bumpers, sounds fine. Will buy.

At first glance, I thought there were more missables than that, thanks for the info. Achievements are all or nothing for me and my problem is the speedrun thing for Excalibur, that always looked impossible for me to do. I'm sure there are many guides online but FF9 is not really a game I want to speedrun. Oh well, I should have known that that would be an achievement!

The 3x speed boost doesn't speed up the game clock, so if you're willing to use that, it makes acquiring Excalibur II much easier.

Not sure about the interface... looks very 'mobile', and takes up a large piece of screen real-estate.

Well yeah, it was released on iOS and Android previously.

Yeah, that would be problematic. Maybe they'll fix it later, sounds like a minor issue with easy fix.

Well hopefully it can work out. Maybe I'll unplug the wireless adapter and plug it back in after the game starts or something.

Does ReShade work with this? Some CRT shaders would probably help...just wish there is a classic gfx mode without the unfiltered backgrounds...

I think I'll stick to my psn copy but the 3x speed would be handy for boss stealing which is annoying as fuck and the chocograph stuff which gets repetitive. So far FFV and FFVI are the only games I play on pc.
