So was this game actually any good? I mean besides the awful motion blur I've heard so much about?
It's mediocre tbh. The combat is too simple, even though there is some variety with 14 characters, but the core gameplay just isn't very interesting compared to a game like KH2 Final Mix. The feel of the combat well as the camera + targeting don't compare either.
The dungeons/missions are comprised of linear corridors. There are a few gimmicks here and there, but the level design is nothing special.
The story is boring and the characters are nothing to write home about. The characters receive no development at all, and in the story you're just going from battle to battle to battle. It gets kinda interesting towards the end, and I liked the ending and the alternate ending (didn't unlock it, just saw it on Youtube) but it's disappointing for the most part. Also, the idea that when someone dies everyone loses their memory of them is good, except the execution is bad because you don't care about the characters at all.
The world map is filled with some lvl 99 monsters and extra dungeons, but there are no real secrets to discover and for the most part it's just empty space. The towns are all really small and basic, and look visually similar. They also have the same theme played over and over again, which is actually a
very good theme, but for some mind boggling reason they couldn't be bothered to play the second half of the track.
I also thought some of the redone character models for Class Zero looked...off. And I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with the motion blur, even though I got used to it after a few sessions.
The only really good aspect about the game is the soundtrack.
FF XIII-2 and LR (didn't play XIII) are better.
