Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

I'm so tempted to buy this but I want FF7R to be my first experience since I've never played it before. I know the basic plot points and big moments but not all the little nuances of the story or locations. But man I could easily crush this game in one sitting.

I want to buy it and pay it after FF7R but lol that could be 4 years from now. Dat theme tho...

I'm on
the Shinra HQ
, is my first time playing the game and I want the platinum. I read the bromance trophy. Can I still get it? I did not follow all Midgar guide steps.

I'd hold off for now, apparently the music in the game is bugged.

It repeats every time you exit a random battle, an issue identical to the one in FFX HD on the PS4.

It took them months to patch that...

wow, fuck this. I was going to buy the game but not anymore.

So I reached the world map...

Anyone else annoyed that the FF7 Main Theme restarts every time you leave the map and re-enter? The PSX version just begins where it left off.

[EDIT: Nevermind: People are annoyed. lol]

If you never played it before you should get this, I don't think FF7R will be close enough to this.

If you don't like these glitches/issues you can buy it on Steam or the PS Classics?

I've joined you guys, but I'm playing the PS1 version as I have no PS4 yet.

I'm jelly about the cool upgrades, though. No encounters, speeding up battles, level toggle.

Well, they've been good about patching as of late (Type-0's motion blur and X PS4's issues come to mind.) Maybe if it's brought to their attention, they'll fix it.

I kept 3x speed off for the staircase purely for the comedic effect. I actually forgot how long it was.

Definitely turned it on for the
Nibelheim
incident, though. Cool as that portion is, it's pretty damn long.

It's a nice feature for the veterans. I just hope people new to the game aren't abusing it because the story is slow or whatever.

Anyone know what SE's western Twitter account is?

I'm gonna bombard them with Tweets about the music glitch :/

Edit: found it!

Several actually, might as well tweet them all lol

Get it.

You will have more respect for what FF7R represents. FFVII is loaded with so much charm, so many little things; things we fear may ultimately be cut in R. You gotta experience this, man.

Just started a new game, previously had only played a couple of hours into the steam version

Loving this so much more. The controller support is nice, looks nicer on my TV than my laptop screen, and I love the cheats. I haven't used speed up or turn off random encounters, but the R3 cheat boost is perfect for me.

I know it's not the "real" way to play but I really don't play turn based games so this way I don't have to worry about strategy and can just enjoy the aesthetic, music, animations, and story. I'm also not leaving it perma-boosted, just clicking on and off to restore health and whatnot

the only thing weird about the R3 battle boost is that it seems it forces you to use limit break over attack? for someone like Aeris who heals everyone that doesnt really work well. I didnt realise you couldnt attack when you were at limit break?

man the soundtrack is so good, haven't listened to it for a while... world theme must be my favorite of any game other than the two in VI (argh stop restarting)

it's so big, too... most of the OSTs I listen to over the last year or two are typically 90 minutes maybe, 60-90 at least or so.

just checked youtube and the ff vii one is 4.5 hours :O soooo good

Couldn't truly appreciate 3x speed until the
Shinra HQ Staircase
.
I've really started to appreciate it now that I've got to the point where I have to start backtracking to do all the Fort Condor battles to get all the prizes. Especially when I have to go from Rocket Town for one. That and no encounters will be a blessing.

There is no way to put the game on fullscreen ?

Full screen doesnt exist. The backgrounds are all designed for 4:3 and are already low res enough that stretching or Zooming will only make matters worse.

Some kind of border would have been nice though.

I am holding off playing past Midgar until they fix the music glitch. Its driving me nuts.

I've been reading around the net for a while and it seems that this music-loop issue has been an issue in the PC version for years now.

They never bothered fixing it then, and I'm not sure they'll do it for the PS4 version (which is a port of that same bugged PC version).

It feels like I've literally wasted money and paid ~$10 for a FF7 theme...

It's a pity you'll never enjoy the OST properly since it keeps looping after each random encounter!

Looping music aside, it's a really good port.
It's not a "really" good port. Everything is blured into oblivion, it lacks controls customization and an option to keep 3d elements pixelated to look similar to the PSX version that was already featured in the PC port.

It was also a good opportunity to get rid of those black bars at the top and the bottom, they haven't done anything about it.

In the end it's just a very lazy port of the pc port that took way too much time to be released.

Why does it need that when PS4 has it at a system level?

Right, i did it yestarday and i did it right now just to test, i have the trophy for diamond weapon, i just killed Ultimate weapon, the trophy is not popping.......
Basically in 24 hours gameplay time i have managed to get all the ultimate limits, bred a golden chocobo, i am halfway through to get master summon. And i am at disk three before the final confrontation.
After killing ultima, the next weapon is nowhere to be seen at corel desert................

Scratch that, Ruby spawned, lets see if i can kill it, and what happens to the trophy

First time I played FFVII - last year on my Vita (R.I.P. OLED Display) - it's my favorite game of all time now. I jumped on the hype train just in time for Christmas that is Remake.

Can't wait to play it again on PS4, love the theme as well.

Is there some secret sauce to getting a Golden Chocobo because i have always been awful at it. Only at Temple of the Ancients atm after 5 1/2 hours

Scroll down a bit, but it is along these lines, just restart a lot before you move chocobos to stables to get the gender you need. Same with breeding, save and restart.

Short chocobo guide

If you google around there are much more fleshed out guides.

Cheers i will keep that bookmarked for later on. Got Great Gospel for Aeris so i think i will play normally until close to the end of disc 2. My main problem will be the Battle Arena for Omnislash.

I'd really really really really really like an option to disable that damn R3 cheat. Being one button away with no option to disable in options is too fucking tempting and even then I've clicked it by mistake more than once

Just give us the option to not have that cheat at the click of a button if we don't want it.

There is no Trophy for killing Ultimate Weapon, but killing it lets you get the Final Attack materia and that is extremely useful for the other two.

You got master summon ? I cant get the trophy for Ultimate weapon to spawn ;( Leaves a crater and everything.....

You get Master Summon from the Kalm Traveler. No need to grind AP for it.

There's also no need to breed a Gold Chocobo, because you also get one from the Kalm Traveler and can use it to get KOTR for that Trophy.

I think you can pick up a Ribbon in the Temple of the Ancients. That will actually prevent some of the status effects you might get from that slot thing in the battle arena. It helps more than you know.

Correct me if my memory is wrong, but don't you have to defeat Emerald or Ruby WEAPON to get the item to trade for the Master Summon and/or the Gold Chocobo?

Emerald Weapon gets you the Master Materia set and Ruby Weapon gets you the Gold Chocobo.

I hope everyone remembers to Morph the Ghost Ship to get the Guide Book you can trade in for the Underwater materia, otherwise the time limit on Emerald Weapon makes things unnecessarily complicated.

Here's a pretty specific guide that even lets you know what enemies to look for when you encounter the chocobo, as what your looking for always shows up with certain enemies. Just save before moving them to a stable for getting the needed gender.

http://www.chocobo-guide.mikestomb.com/#18

Combine that with the fact that breeding chocobos themselves is seemingly not random and it makes this whole process much less painful. For example when you get your first blue or green chocobo and then need the opposite color/gender (what is normally the most painstaking part of this whole process before I learned this trick):

1. Save before breeding. (Duh, I know)

2. If you don't get the color/gender you needed, reload

3. This time don't just immediately breed again, instead exit the farm and re-enter and breed.

4. You should get something different this time. If it's still not what you need, reload and exit and re-enter TWICE.

5. Just repeat this process until you get what you need by exiting and re-entering one extra time than the last. The game will cycle through each color/gender this way.

I'm reciting this by memory from the last time I played who knows how long ago and can't remember where I learned it from but it works like a charm when done correctly. The game just rotated through each one right in a row until I got what I needed without repeating. I think this is exactly how it worked but sorry if I misremembered something. Worth a shot anyway to confirm.

Right, that is all the weapons beat :)

Need 75 mil and 29 levels and then it is off to the endgame, off to all materia farming i guess ......
