This is the same point I tried to make in the other thread. Witcher 3 is massive and made by a smaller team. Considering Square Enix has the theme/story, music, design and foundation already there, what's stopping them from doing it? And if the excuse is they would release too late, why the hell did they start developing this so late!
Everything with this company has to be so frustrating. We all make so many excuses for them because we worry they will ruin it if they don't take all the time in the world. Incredibly long development cycles with no confidence in the vision.
So by making Midgar more explorable than it has ever been implies the game is going to be 'linear corridors like FFXIII'? What kind of logic is this?
So will this span generations? Maybe "PS4 console debut" means it'll end on the PS6
Nomura: If we tried to fit it in to a single game, we'd have to cut many parts of it and make it like a FFVII digest. Then there would be no point of doing a remake, for example, you'll be able to explore various locations in Midgar which wasn't in the original version. We really want to put in as much detail as we can if were going to do a remake. Of course, we'd have to cut some parts from the original for various reasons, but adding aspects unique to this remake (like the previously mentioned), with this amount of detail, the overall quantity is going to end up bigger. Many people are probably worried about the (release) )schedule and we also want users to be able to play it as soon as possible, which is also the reason (for multi-part).
I think he means they would have to cut a lot more if it was one release rather than multiple parts. So they're making it a multi part game so they don't have to cut stuff, but they're cutting stuff anyway. Yolo I guess

Oh god. Imagine this but with KH's platform hopping.Episode 2 exclusive to NX.
My biggest problem with the first part being Midgar is it completely ruins what made Midgar in VII so special, leaving it. Remember that feeling when you got to the end of Midgar, not knowing what was coming next and the whole world opened up. That was a great feeling, but will it happen again?
Problem is, as other people have been saying, it's not size, it's breadth of content that's the issue. Witcher 3 is massive, but much of it is open fields, small towns, with 2 major cities, one of which is fairly small and side quests, while prettied up, do tend to boil down to being fairly simplistic gameplay wise. I imagine even CDPR would have difficulty handling Midgar if making what Square is saying about Midgar is true (having more locations and stuff to explore in).

Makes sense. Episodic release on PS4 then full release elsewhere when it's all released.
Or... what would be funny... is Play it first on PS4... and continue on PS5 hahaha.
Well, I don't know about the other fans but personally I don't want the storyline and content to be streamlined just so people can have it all in one neat, nice package. Everybody who ever wanted this knew that by today standards fitting all of FFVII's content in a single game would be almost impossible without making an enormously giantic game, I mean think about all the places, side stories, cutscenes, voice acting etc. fitting everything in it is worth multiple games by today's standards, new content notwithstanding.Behemoth? Why? Better ask to the fans. Maybe we want a direct way to solve the Midgard part instead making it a huge city with sidequest or other stories. Is this impossible with the actual tecnology? It isnt.
That's assuming the first part ends in Midgar, which we have no indication of whatsoever.
if this means something like:
FFVII Part 1: Launching in 2016, $19.99
FFVII Part 2: Launching in mid 2017, $19.99
FFVII Part 2: Launching in end 2017, $19.99
i'm ok with this.
if in the end it will cost more than $59.99, i will expect a sale(in 2030)
if this means that will get the complete game 2018 or later.... well... i will wait ;_;
Yeah, that's why I said my problem with it ending there. I know it's not confirmed.

Figured that'd be the case after watching the latest trailer. So much focused on Midgar, I'm guessing the first 'chapter' will be the entirety of the Midgar section. Was that all of CD1? I don't remember.
I'm guessing CD 1 to 4 will be released as different games. If they go overboard with the extra stuff to refer to all those original, stupid Crisis Core characters we might need a fifth game.
Basically I'll wait until the complete set is released around the time PS6 is coming out![]()
The original was episodic too there was multiple discs. Now the disc have gone digital.
^This.
Cyberconnect? This means that they will only remake the important scenes. It's not a proper rpg.
Meh
Ah, alright. Thanks, it's been too longThere were 3 discs and the first disc was about twice as long as the midgar section, it ends when the big "spoiler" happens, if you catch my drift.
But cutting the original battle system and then replacing it with a new action one and as you said redesigning every encounter isn't the same as completely cutting out chunks of the story/locations. Using a new battle system and redesigning encounters isn't them (necessarily) saving space.I would be more willing to listen to that excuse if they had not already cut the battle system making them recreate and redesign every single encounter in the game as am action RPG.
I really don't think the hype would be any less if all we got was a much prettier ATB system (imagine FFVII ATB with FFXIII presentation) if it meant we could get a traditional release.
That said, I am not completely against the battle system but if it means other things have to be sacrificed I get a little annoyed.
While everyone else has a meltdown, I'm loving what i am hearing.
New battle system( Can Control barret,Cid,Tifa, Still ATB)
AC level graphics
Fully fledged areas( Midgar,Nibelheim,Golden Saucer etc)
NEW CONTENT ( for us that have completed the game a 100 times)
Story is going to be enhanced.
What is there to moan about, Play the original game if you want the same story, Experience and ending.
It was said years ago that a FF7 remake would cost a fortune to do, I'll take what i can get from them, As much as i love FF7..... I don't wanna complete the original from 1997 again for the 101st time.

Personally, I am okay with this. Actually, I think this will be ultimately a good thing.
People are asking for the ultimate remake, you can't really go half-baked with FFVII. Can you fit ALL of FFVII's epicness, story, cutscenes (now voiced), quests, WORLD, in one disc IN FULL HD? Don't need to be a pro gaming developer to know the answer is NOPE.
If they went for a one-shot release, they would have to cut things down, to hold themselves. By going for episodic releases, the scope increases significantly, and we are guaranteed to get rich content and value.
Only downside I see is that we'll beat Sephiroth in around 2024 lol
Oh, and the pricing - they'll probably price each part as a full game -____-
If this actually speeds up the release of the first disc I will gladly pay and extra 100 bucks no issues here. If it doesn't speed up release then I will just cry... and then still buy all 3.....
