Huh. I wonder if the difficulty is part of the reason why people on streams are just using monsters as support classes, then, and not exploring additional roles for the main characters. I would have assumed that the human characters would have access to better and more varied skills for these support classes.
I mean, I just saw someone fighta Long Gui and they had a way easier time with it than in FFXIII! I don't think they were playing it on Easy mode (edit: yes, they were playing on Normal), they were using Auto-Battle for the majority of the battle, and they had some of the worst Optima equipped for the job. I don't even think they used Tri-Defender. They took long, but it was a little surprising to see. They also had Doom cast on them because they were taking long, but because leader death doesn't result in game over anymore, Doom isn't much of a weapon anymore unless it's a solo-human character + monster party.
You took the words right out of my mouth with regards to expenses and grinding for cash. I hope it won't be as irritating as the weapon upgrade system in XIII in the long run...
I appreciate the effort, but I'm not gonna read the spoilers if they're about something really spoilerish
Anyway, it seems having more to do with gameplay mechanics than not dialogue-decisions from what I can guess.
You can use the casino to grind for cash now, so it's not as bad.
You can use the casino to grind for cash? That seems a bit counter-intuitive to being a casino. Are the stakes really in the players favor all that much? I know a save from XIII ups your chance.
LOL!! I saw someone spend, like, an hour on one of those. And they get stupider as the game goes on.Wow, this clock puzzle is garbage.
Not to mention that if you use an FFXIII save it might be easier to win in the casino with whatever they give you.No, it's still luck and such, but you can bet on chocobos to (most likely) get some good money, depending on which chocobo you bet on.
I just want to vent my frustration that because of this game FFversus13 development is delayed and its launch. For me FF franchise is dead after Ps2. Multiplatform killed the games quality.
Do we really know what's going on with Versus though? Just wait a few months and maybe we will get a release date on Versus.I just want to vent my frustration that because of this game FFversus13 development is delayed and its launch. Don't do it lolBeing multiplatform has nothing to do with it you fanboy. Bad design is bad design.
Nah...this gen killed Japanese developers. They just can't cope with it.I just want to vent my frustration that because of this game FFversus13 development is delayed and its launch. For me FF franchise is dead after Ps2. Multiplatform killed the games quality.

all the jp games i played/imported this year were superior to any western game released this year. *files nails*Nah...this gen killed Japanese developers. They just can't cope with it.
Well, we know that Nomura ran through the world & all (?) locations of Versus about two or three months ago (of course they could always decide to make more of them as the development progresses...). At least to me that would imply it's quite far in development, even if not all of those locations were filled with whatever content & events are planned for them yet.Do we really know what's going on with Versus though?

In comparison with last gen, it is kinda true.Yeah that's not exactly true either.

Yea, me too. But the rest of the world, no. Last gen, and gen before that, Japanese developers and games were as good and as popular as anything west put out. This gen however? No. Business model and development of Japanese studios is not good at all. When giants like Square Enix and Capcom fail to deliver it can't be good for Japan.I've played tons of good Japanese console games. So much for it killing them.
Wow, this clock puzzle is garbage.
DDDDDDD: noooo. Got all the way to a hard to reach gate and I was out of wild ooparts... damnit.

So, are you not liking it Kagari? If I enjoyed XIII, then I should this. Can you tell me about weapons? You just buy them at a shop, and thats it? No forging? Also, does the weapon model change at all? I'm going to say no, all the pics and videos I've seen, its the same looking that Noel uses.
Yes, you buy them at shops. You can also find them in chests. The weapon model does change as well.
As for liking the game... it's not perfect, but so far it's better than XIII. I'm 18 hours in now.

Then how did you knew it's another so-so FF ?
They need to get a different writer. That's one thing from XIII they didn't fix.
Toriyama will defend it to the end. The reality is, he had some good ideas, but the execution of them was quite poor. The same can be said of XIII-2.
I take it you don't care about challenge/difficulty? Because from what you've told me, sounds like a real downgrade(then again not from some pinnacle or anything).
Yeah, Lightning's in-game model for this is kind of weird after how it looked in FFXIII. I dunno... I wish they had updated it some. Did you get to the part where (chapter 5 transition spoilers)The game isn't difficult in the slightest. I'm at level cap on three roles for both Serah and Noel already.
Lightning doesn't show up again really until 20 hours into the game... her in-game model is pretty bad. They didn't spend any time updating it at all. :/
Do you guys really expect a good story out of Versus? Looking at what those KH games call story, I sure don't. How did Type 0's story turn out?
better than 3rd Birthday and FF13.
Better than XIII that's for sureDo you guys really expect a good story out of Versus? Looking at what those KH games call story, I sure don't. How did Type 0's story turn out?
I wouldn't really use Kingdom Hearts as any kind of indication of what Versus XIII's story will be like. Nomura is trying to do something very different with Versus' story. It should be a bit more serious & "realistic" in how it handles the characters, so hopefully the story's quality will reflect that and there won't be anything like Organization XIII and the whole Heartless/Nobody dynamic and whatnot to mess up the story. I'm not expecting it to be some Planescape Torment level writing, but I hope it doesn't have too many o*\ moments.Do you guys really expect a good story out of Versus? Did you get to the part where (chapter 5 transition spoilers)you have a few black and white nodes to pick from and the colour for those areas' designs are really dark?
The Crystarium point count needed to level up is much smaller than FFXIII. At least it doesn't seem like a chore to level up. Maybe for the monsters, though. When I play this, I'll try to keep the roles all even, I guess. Or grind to my heart's content since that's what I always do in RPGs, lol.

It's also related to the chocobo it plays on.
You appear to get different endings by unlocking certain nodes through story actions andan item / cheat you get after the 'ending' that allows you to fight harder versions of bosses in certain nodes.
Oh and one of those endings is alsoCG.

Ok, I've read it thanks. But I have still more questions if you allow:
Regarding the ENDINGs, are them really so different from each other or simply everyone is still going to get the same main ending but with added cutscenes in case they achieved certain things through the game?
thx
Btw, updated amazon.co.jp user's review score for XIII-2:
It's going so better for now compared to XIII
