oh sad
i guess they did send me a PC code
wtf i registered for PS3 :/

anyone want to trade or have a spare to, uh, spare? :)

*sigh*

I've tried installing this several hours on PS3 and keep getting "Server not responding" or just plain kicked out of the client.

Well, as a veteran FFXI player, I think I'm out. I'm not liking this...the game looks like a solo fest for most of the time, partys aren't encouraged at all...just do some quests, spam your best skills over and over and that's it. And since you get 1.000tp from the beginning and you are spamming them, the skills lose all value. It's not like in FFXI, where getting your 100tp and unleashing your weaponskill (even better, skillchaining with someone else!) was fucking satysfing.

I'll keep an eye out for Beta 4, but this doesn't seem for me at all. Solo options are great and I welcome them, but with MMOs I'm looking for a social experience.

Maybe I'm just not with the times.

The game is much more solo friendly, but that's not to say parties aren't encouraged at higher levels. Once you hit 15 it's easier to exp in group dungeons so you'll see more social interaction that way. In some respects it's similar to FFXI and soloing to 10-12 before making the run to Valkurm to start partying.

Really hoping I get into the PS3 beta, Phantasy Star Online is the closest thing I've really played to an MMO. Looking for something to sink my teeth into.

I was sent a ps3 code today in my email, just got home, and it says the code is invalid. Wtf, is this a known issue or did I just get screwed?

That goddamn feel when you're stuck at work for another four hours and you want to get home and play.

It's too late for me, guys. They've already gotten their mitts into me. :(

The code should be entered in all CAPS. I got the same error the first time, until I did that.

I also got the server busy message the first time, but the 2nd time it went through.

Wow Square-Enix is on top of things this time.

Apparently the NA PSN redemption codes for the client are coming up invalid on Canadian accounts.

This is the first time I've ever heard of US PSN codes being invalid for Canadians. LOL SE.

You'll need to create a new PS3 user and a US PSN account. Once you download the initial installer from the PSN store, you can log back into your Canadian account and link it to the game.

You are going to Sargatanas when the game is released, BTW.

...Just thought I would let you know.
I mean, I played FFXIV 1.0 for only a month, and I don't remember any of it, so I don't know if I count as "legacy".

I'm rolling Ultros in Phase 3, but yeah, I'm not going to play a ton if I know everything is getting wiped.

Edit: Need dat VA work though

Does everyone start in Limsa? Or did I miss the part where I choose starting zone?

I think it depends on the class/job you choose. When you choose them after creating your character you see a little preview of the place you will start in.

Am I the only one who finds the map incredibly confusing? Especially when you click on "map" in your quest log to let it point you towards the general area where you're supposed to do it.

Nobody else feel that way I take it?

PM sent, I have the opposite problem :P

It did confuse me at the beginning, but when you click on the name of the area, it will show the map of that area and you will see the quest target. I think in the previous beta when clicking on the map of the quest log, it'd take you straight to the area map of the quest, and you wouldn't even know where that area was if you hadn't been there yet, so this system works better, just gotta get used to it.

Anyone know if people who have 1.0 characters will be able to alter the look of there character in release ie change race and stuff?

It's beta and they are testing. If they kept end game content anything like 1.0 you'll have a fine social experience.

They have certainly tailored the start to feel like modern mmo but trust me 1,0 was a mess for starters.once you start to hit 20 or so dungeons and runs will open up that require parties. It's your choice I say stick it out longer but that is your call.

If I can speak from previous 1.0 experiences we all had a good time with many of the end game stuff. Garuda was great and many of us had to come together to get through that slaughter fear.

Yes, after release, you log in with your character as it looked in 1.0, then you can completely change it just one time only, but you can even change race and sex.

An stylist npc will be added in an update post-release, that will allow to change hair styles and other details, but not race or sex.

look into guildhests and limit breaks

I'm very disapointed .
After finally downloading 3gb , i was ejected and i'm now unable to log-in with my account

What should i do to be able to play this game ?

PS3 player, never played any MMO, an hour or two in and I will say that graphically the PS3 version looks pretty terrible and runs passably, but not super great. If it ran a tiny bit better and looked a tiny bit better I'd be more okay with it. It's also weird because in the field with a bunch of people and monsters out it doesn't seem to actually run any worse than in town or smaller areas, so not sure if it's just poorly optimized or how that works, or if that's going to be any better in the retail release. The controller options seem to work pretty well except doing anything with your map seems to be super clunky and/or confusing. Could see myself maybe doing a keyboard + controller combo possibly (I'm assuming they support that?), but want to give this a go for a good while to see if I get used to it or not.

I have no point of reference so I don't even know if I'm enjoying yet or not. Already seeing multiple people in the chat client either hitting on other people, bitching about people who are asking questions instead of going to the beta forums, or roleplaying as FF characters.

So what's the optimal rotation for a Thurmature? I've kinda just be going Thu/Bliz/Fire/Bliz and repeating.
With the way the buffs work, I'd think you'd want to double up on fire and blizzard. That way you get some use out of the increased damage for an elemental spell with the buff on, and then you also get to take advantage of the ice buff's MP regeneration increase for a brief moment.

Hey, on the PC, when I ran the ffxivsetup.exe it created a shortcut on my desktop, ran that, it dowloaded a few files and I got taken to a ToS window. I get a script error upon it loading and I'm unable to click Next after checking the agreement box.

The script error is for this link

http://frontier.ffxiv.com/beta3/eula.html?lang=en&region=2

which is what the window I'm stuck on looks like.

Error: HTML Parsing Error. Unable to modify container element before child element is closed(KB927917).

Any ideas? I've uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled already.

finally i am able to get in. holy shit i am so overwhelmed with HUD.. so much shit going on

and now when im trying to type stuff.. it came out in japanese WTF

What an ordeal.

Gotta be on a US PSN to download the beta.
Gotta have javascript and cookies turned on PS3 internet browser to access the game.
Need 6GB free space on HDD gotta delete something.
Now downloading 4.8GB update...

Should have been seamless integration with PSN, no hoops required.

Oh well, hopefully the game is fun and this shit is worth it.
