We both want the same thing but many people don't want to start on a Legacy server and it's unfair to leave those people out but it's also unfair to ask Legacy players to ditch their progress and join a new server. The game created this problem, we just have to make the best of it.
Will that be the Official server once it releases?

"1. Find and open your FFIV beta folder/ or you can just go to start and type in beta and you should see the "FFIV" beta file there .
2.Open FFIV_BOOT w/notepad (if notepad is not working try another program like wordpad or something).
3.There should be a "0" next to EulaAgreement, erase that "0" and put "1" in its place, then go to file and save then close out. After you have saved and closed out relaunch.
4.Also if you are using windows 7 make sure it's up to date INCLUDING IE.
5. If all else fails ( SE says: ) right click the beta app on your desktop and run as administrator. ( I didn't do this step because the previous steps solved the issue for me which is why its the last step )"

Yeah, I'm in Ultros but whats the difference between the Legacy and Fresh Start?
Legacy is full of players that have already established themselves over the years while the fresh server will be all new players.

My Lalafell. I was thrown off by having to throw in a surname and I wanted to use Lucent. I never made up a last name to go with that. So I based the last name of what Lucent means sorta but instead of "Light" I went with "Lite"
Lucent Lite. I'm in love with this character I've made. =D

Legacy = Existing server from FFXIV 1.0. Pre-existing community, players, items, economy, etc.
Fresh Start = Everyone on equal footing and starting anew, no 1.0 characters allowed.

Legacy server will have all the max level GAF folks, so if you're the sort that prefers to level with everyone you'll want the Fresh Start server.
If you prefer to play with the more initiated folks, go for Legacy server.
If you prefer to play with the more initiated folks, go for Legacy server.

I agree, I also want to play with GAF, and I am sorry to see us split. However, I really want to start fresh because that's how I want to experience the game. So its not fair to leave the players who want to start fresh out in the cold just because some people want a "united" GAF. So I think its fair to have both servers advertised for those that want the option (like me). So it may disappoint some people but its only fair that you let people make that decision for themselves.

Hey, it's actually downloading the beta client at a fast speed. This is way different than how I remembered it in 1.0.

Depends on what your ultimate job goal is. Here is a breakdown of the Job Unlocks.
- Paladin, requires Gladiator level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Marauder and Conjurer abilities.
- Dragoon, requires Lancer level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.
- Monk, requires Pugilist level 30 and Lancer level 15. Can use Lancer and Archer.
- Bard, requires Archer level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Conjurer and Thaumaturge abilities.
- Warrior, requires Marauder level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
- White Mage, requires Conjurer level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
- Black Mage, requires Thaumaturge level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.
- Summoner, an upcoming job of A Realm Reborn, will be available to Arcanists.
This would have happened anyway once people started asking questions about the difference between legacy and other servers...

So I got my conjurer to lvl 3 so far and this game is pretty cool. Now I gotta sign up for that Gaf guild wherever she may be.
But you can't transfer a character from one to the other, right? So what if one dies? Only thing that really confuses me about the two server idea.
Anyhoo,, got to lv7 before I hit a quest bug that prevents me from advancing the main quests, so not too bad I guess in terms of a beta.
You can eventually, I imagine at a cost.

I really liked what I saw of the Bard. Does that mean I have to run a Archer first? Or can I Lvl Conjurer first then switch?

No one answered this so I'll tell ya.
You open with Thunder, then you spam fire until you are low on mana, refresh thunder when needed, when low on mana use your Transpose skill and spam blizzard until you mana is full again aplying thunder right before it ends, then when your mana is full swap back to firestance with Transpose.
At launch, characters on legacy servers cannot be transferred off. SE will allow server transfers after a while, like when new servers have a bunch of max level players at which point there is no difference.
At launch, characters can be transferred to legacy servers, and new players and players with accounts from 1.x can make new characters on any server.

Aeana plz help me lol you said you're always a healer, but so am I. I'm lvl 6 and i dont know how to beat that lvl 5 tree boss thing. ;______; I only have earth spell and cure as well as cleric stance.

You can either start with fire or bliz,I normally start with bliz will add Heavy to target which will make it move slower. That will give you a few seconds of keep nuking the enemy without taking damage (unless he can do ranged dmg), then use the ability to change the buff and use fire until your mana depletes, then use that ability again and start using bliz to restore mana.
Then rinse and repeat until needed. You can use lightning whatever you want, I normally use it after the first bliz.
I was able to skip it in phase 2. At least on a second character I made. I was puzzled when I couldn't do it this time.
