Just started playing the beta and BOOOOO, I seem to have the Nvidia GTX 670 bug where the game just black screens on you. If it happens in borderless window this is unrecoverable and I have to close the game via the task manager. If it happens in full screen the framerate goes full bonkers and I have to restart the game anyways. Problem is, this happens after about 5-10 minutes of gametime making the game virtually unplayable for me. On a Gigabyte GTX 670OC here.

I was having similar issue with 660ti.
From what I heard it this thread, for those who use 670OC you need to lower the clock for your VGA.

this is the quote.
I bet you have an Nvidia card. It's probably a GTX 670, or it's overclocked. There are numerous reports of this happening, if you look at the system log you'll see errors where the graphics driver recovered from a serious error. What's happening is, the GPU is crashing, the driver resets, and the game keeps on going but after the reset the GPU is set to the low-power 3D clock to prevent another crash, which is why your framerate is now a smoking crater. Also, if you're like me and use your HDMI output and your sound routes through the graphics card, suddenly sound isn't working anymore.

If you are OCed, you'll need to back the OC down a little. My GTX 680 was giving me the same problem as you until I backed my GPU core OC down a notch, then the problem went away. Some people with stock-clocked GTX 670s are also reporting this problem, and lowering the clock below stock resolves it. I'm not sure if this is a real problem with GTX 670s having their stock clocks set too high for what the cores can handle, or something isolated to FFXIV.

for me personally, the problem seems to be gone after I installed the latest nvidia driver.

Nice was in the middle of my first instance run and was waiting for the roll to expire on another DC'd character to win a piece of loot when the servers went down.

Tank I had in there with me was pretty damn bad, I would pull all the mobs off him on my first heal.

I will finally be able to play this week-end (I was in holiday during precedent phases), what is the serveur of choice to meet PS3 Eurogaffers?

Edit: And now I learn it's unavailable again lol

Not sure if dumb question but I've been in the PC beta for awhile and I'm wondering if I can use the same CD key to sign up for the PS3 beta? Recently got a PS3 again and I want to try it out. Is it too late for me to be able to try that version out?

While the servers are down, I laughed noticing that for the JP servers, I get a Connection Excellent mark, while for the EU servers, I only get a Connection Good mark.

I've had my first chance to do some actual exploring in this today, and it seems this game is where squeenix's art department has been hiding for the last few years. Northern La Noscea is gorgeous (though a little dangerous at level 8, heh). Can't wait to visit the other regions.

Yeah I have never seen so much detail in an MMO world, I mean some like GW2 got huge areas and look nice, but the density of grass, trees and the likes in XIV is insane, it feels like a next-gen experience when you run this shit on max. It's funny that one of XIV 1.0's biggest problems was bland, uninspired copy-pasted areas, and they did a complete turn-around on it.

I just tried out mages for the first time since 1.0, seems much better now lol. I think I will go with Arcanist at launch (if it still makes it) so I can go Scholar, since I was one in XI and it's the closest to Red Mage.

How do I level up as Botanist? The next quest is at level 5 but trees give me like 30 exp... can I craft as well? Or do the gathering classes open up as you get higher?

Played it for about 2 hours today, had a lot of fun with it, at least after the first few tutorials were done and I got to explore a little. It's my first MMO, so I can't really compare it to other games like it, but I like exploring the area and finding additional stuff each time I get back to the city. And so far, I don't have any problems playing this with a controller, actually works pretty well.
Is this announced to come to next-gen consoles, too? It sure runs like crap on PS3 (or maybe it's just the beta).

Ok thanks, installing the new Beta drivers right now. Let's see if it helps!

PS4 version confirmed. SE is shooting for early next year release.

You need a PSN code to download the client, the key is useless alone

Confirmed for PS4 next year.

Edit: Beaten, twice.

Does anyone have a list or something that has the classes with their stats on it?

I'm trying to use the class that has the most strength or does damage. I'm thinking Marauder does the most damage but I'm not sure since it's a slow but powerful class, while gladiator on the other hand is fast but not as damaging as marauder.

I've tested all the classes but I haven't compared who's the most damaging yet. Anybody figure out who's the most damaging?

Unfortunately the early grind is pretty bad. Just grab a lot of logs to level Carpenter.

Once you get Guildleves, it goes much faster. But I do hope that gathering classes get a bit better EXP in the launch version when harvesting because it's waaaaaaay too slow right now. I hit 15 and it feels like I have to chop down a hundred trees just to hit 16.

Yeah - you hit level 3 on the first quest for mages/fighters etc but I barely hit 2 for doing the first gathering one.

Marauder has a lot of tank skills and abilities, so if you are looking for raw melee dps you want to go with Pugilist or Lancer. I believe Pug is more sustained and Lancer is more bursty but you'd want to have someone come over and confirm that last little bit.

it will come to PS4. date tba.

Confirmed for PS4 next year.

Thanks!
If I start my game on PS3, can I later continue with that character on PS4?
And I just saw that this has a lower retail price than normal games, but does it come with 30 days free or something like that? I think I saw something like that on the box for FFXI once.
Also, can I use my character from the beta in the full game?

I haven't bothered picking up a crafting or gathering profession at this point. Anyone have any suggestions on what to try out for a Conjurer that will be going White Mage?

Thanks, I might go puglist then. I've been using him for a while and if he has to lvl to lancer anyways I might as well continue with him. I didn't know Marauder was the tanky one of the classes, I just thought he was the guy that did huge damage and can inflict fractures and bleeds. The more you know I guess.

Thanks!

You character will carry over between all formats, that's all stored online. First 30 days will be free, it's just a bit cheaper due to the 1.0 mess up i believe.

Your character from this stage of the beta won't carry over, but from stage 4 i think they are supposed to.

Ah, that's nice.
Just one final question: If I buy this on PS3, will everybody on my console be able to play this or just me (I guess it's probably bound to my SE account?)?

I will likely go with Alchemist with Fisher (for Water Crystals) on launch to assist my Conjurer.

You can get wands/staves from Carpenter and armor from Weaver, if you prefer that route. I'm just seeing it from a money-making perspective, though, and everyone eats food and drinks potions.

I also find that most of the stuff for Carpenter is total crap, but that may get better at higher levels when quest rewards start to taper off.

Yeah Marauder and gladiator are both tanks. LNC is the heavy hitter and more about aggro control. PUG is more focused on consistent damage by micromanaging combos.

Since there isn't any end game content its hard to say which does more damage overall.

I think I must have missed it, but where do you get a chocobo of your own? I had heard some say it happens when you complete the beta story, but I did that and nothing.

After you join a Grand Company you have to exchange seals (1k I believe) for the chocobo license. You pick it up from one of the NPCs in the GC. Hope this helps!

Does anyone have a list of racial stat differences at higher levels? I want to know if it's as significant as it was in ffxi from Galka / Taru

Racial stat difference doesn't change with level now, lv1 difference is the same as lv50 difference, so it'll get less and less significant as you level.
