Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

I wonder how extensive will we be able to customize the look of the car.

The more important question is if we could change party members' outfit with various, unique costumes. Really want to at least be able to have the option to swap colour palette of the clothes.

I want mine looking like the Mystery Machine =X

That's fucking robbery, I never knew it was so short. Ground Zeroes I mean.
The main game is around 1 hour (less I think, actually).

It has more content, but it's all optional/fan-service, and only a few worth doing (unless you really like Metal Gear).

Although... I guess side-content is true for Duscae as well =P

They said we can't (we can change armor, but the model doesn't change).

Every time I want to complain about outfits or accessories I remember those bright pink weapons from a certain game...

I know armor doesn't change the appearance. I was talking about separate outfits that are unlocked in-game/via DLC purely for cosmetic purposes, kind of like how Tales series did it.

Maybe separate costume is possible, but I don't think there will be color swaps for current ones. I don't think SE can touch the current costume designs..

The initial price was $39.99, and they decreased it to $29.99.

They played us like a damn fiddle!

I just skimmed through the Kotaku article about the FFXV demo. It's interesting how he finds the character having more personality through their conversations and actions and doesn't seem bothered by their VA's.

I also didn't know that side missions were cancelled if you go camping. O.O

I mean Duscae is practically $20 since Type-0 should really be around $40.

Oh, and how was it?

It was an awesome little stealth sand box game. I think I played it for about 10-12 hrs and haven't even done most of it. It was definitely worth playing it.

As for FFXV though, I'm scared all the potential spoilers lurking in there. At least GZ took place in an entirely different period from the original game, and even the FFXIII demo was just set at the start of the game...
here it sounds like this is few hours into the game, not the best choice for skipping on spoilers :\

From what I've read, I was under the impression that Duscae is standalone

They altered the story a bit but I don't think that event (repairing the car and facing behemoth) is missing in the final game. Also the entirety of Duscae Region exist in the final game while in GZ the camp is unique to it and will not be present in PP. I usually prefer DEMOs to 1) feature the start of the game or 2) advanced area but no story events (see FFXII demo). FFXV ED seems to be taking the worse choice...

edit. Maybe it's a bit unfair talking of GZ here because that's not a demo but a stand alone game.

How long were the other ff demos? Demo seems full of content.

Very short. Usually 20-30 mins when it comes to FFVIII, XII and XIII demo. FFXV ED is way more meaty, I just fear for the spoilers. Already exploring one of area out of ten sounds like a big spoiler... re-doing 2-4 hours of content in the final game in an area I'll know perfectly step by step sounds menacing.

Its not the whole duscae region tho. And the duscae region is 1/10 of the game.

It's not one out of ten areas. It's a portion of the Duscae region. The Duscae region, which is not fully explorable in the demo, is 10% of the world map.

I have no idea where you are coming from here regarding the spoilers. We already know the story won't be spoiled by much and even when it comes to gameplay, we are not really playing the final version of the combat which will also have magic and other potential changes based on the feedback.

I don't think the game has only one summon or a short variety of monsters, so it is not like they will be spoiled. The world of wonder video showed a great variety of monsters in the duscae region alone and barely a few of them are included in the demo.

I thought they were all-in. Better this way then!

I 100%ed Ground Zeroes. I played it for well over 20 hours if not 30 hours. My money was well spent.

Then I bought a PS4 in December, bought the game again for it and 100%ed again. :)

Oh, and how was it?

Ground Zero is a blast but I beat it without trying that hard, and watching the cinematics, in about 45 minutes. Was really mad but then I did all the extra stuff so I got about 15-20 hours out of it.

I didn't pay full price for GZ, but if that was the only price point it'll ever be? I would've paid in a heartbeat.

So. much. fun. It's the first time in a long time a game felt like a legit sandbox.

People paying 60 bucks for Duscae shouldn't judge Ground Zeroes lol

I had a blast with Ground Zeroes. I have probably logged in over 40 hours overall. I may be in the minority but i'm fine paying for demos of triple A games such as MGS, FF, or Kingdom Hearts. If I can get at least 2-4 hours of gameplay on my first playthrough, i'm a satisfied customer.

I'll be leaving on the day of release for vacation..Not that I'm complaining but I gotta still wait an extra week to finally try out this game!

I spent the bulk of yesterday playing FF Type-0 and so far I think it's pretty damn good. Deserves more attention IMO.

Good to hear. As much as I'm looking forward to playing FFXV ED, I'm only playing that first because I can focus my attention on Type-0 afterwards. I can't wait to play a FF game that I haven't played before.
