Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

I don't understand why whether Stella is in the game or not is considered spoilers

It isn't. It's just that
they have been throwing us for a loop by showing a Stella lookalike in the new stuff and calling her Luna, but some people are speculating if she's Stella or if she's a "new" character called Luna and this is apparently leading people to think that whether or not Stella proper is in the game is a "spoiler."

Except this is something that players want to figure out for themselves, so it would be a spoiler albeit a strange one.

I'm sure that this has been asked in the thread already, but I can't seem to find it. If I pre-order Type-0 digitally, will I get access to the XV demo? Thanks for the help!

I have absolutely no idea how whether or not a character is in something can possibly be constituted a spoiler. I'll be respectful to those that disagree but like you said, it's strange. Bizarre, even. There's no way people won't know whether or not a character will be in something before it comes out. It'd be like people spoiler tagging Zell being in FFVIII.

It's not that simple though.
Stella was one of the main characters shown (she was shown more than Ignis/Prompto/Gladio during the Versus days). And now the director changed, the gameplay changed, there's a character identical to her with a different name. And lastly, every single time someone asked if she was still in the game the answer was always "No comments.".

It's not as simple as saying that Zell is in FFVIII.

It's still just a character though. There's nothing surprising or twisty about it. If Stella was changed to Luna, that's not a spoiler. If they've decided to rename Luna to Stella, that's not a spoiler either. In the end it's still the same character that has just either been changed up a bit since initially being revealed, or... not. It doesn't ruin a thing about the game and will be something that everyone knows about well before the game even comes out.

Yes it is, if they're changing the characters and the story, then why even keep Noctis? If story and gameplay changed, then the only thing we still have is the name of the protagonists, why keep it?

Once the gameplay changed and we saw no Stella, how do we even know if this is the same game still? There's nothing there to point it. Stella was the biggest plot-related character we saw, so yes, she IS a big deal.

All these spoiler tags show me that it's time to bow out of this thread. See you in the OT folks.

You're leaving for nothing, just so you know.

Stella might be in the demo. She might not be. Why are we spoiler tagging this dumb shit? I have no idea.

it's what i've been saying since she was called " Luna" how is this surprising if true? To me she was nothing more than a concept. I just think her name/look got changed and thats about it... who's to say we won't get that epic showdown.

I'd actually be happy, as I find Luna's design way better than that Stella E3 redesign. I think I even like Luna as much as the original Stella. Luna's hair looks amazing.

Without massive amounts of dithering, it just doesn't feel like FF hair to me ;_;

Luna looks really really weird, her skin tone and hair and eyebrow color does not go together that well.

Because they opted to not change Noctis but maybe wanted to change Stella for whatever reasons? As someone mentioned, Stella was always a concept. We never knew much about her. Things have changed since "Versus XIII." Some things, not all. Stella was maybe one of those things. We don't know what they decided on yet, but that doesn't make it a spoiler. It just means that we're not sure if Stella was renamed to Luna.

If this is a "spoiler" it's because people that are obsessed with a concept character want to find out for themselves if she's been renamed or if they're deciding to keep it the same just because of the long and bumpy production history for this game. I don't see how knowing this is going to ruin anything about the story or the characters. A spoiler is something that ruins a surprise. Whether or not Luna is Stella or if they're changing the name back to Luna isn't a spoiler or a surprise, but a general production decision.

I agree wkth you.

The discussion basically veers completely into the Quiet is Chico category and is dumb.

This is my first time seeing her hairstyle from an angle besides the front, and I really, really like it.

Business in the front; party in the back.

It's not about changing names, it's about taking a character away from the story. Taking away what is so far the MOST important character in the story.

How do we know that changing the name was everything they did? How do we know they're not just changing the entire story since she was such a central part of it? So far Luna is nothing like Stella, we can talk it was a simple name change when we see her scenes and she is indeed just replacing Stella (in which case, why change her name?). Until then she is in the game and Stella was ripped out because not even the director wants to talk about it.

If it was a simple name change, why not come up and say the name was changed? They had no problem doing that with the battle system.

Actually we knew about as much as we knew about Noctis with her for many years. She was always in the Versus XIII/XV trailers and such up until last year so what changed?

We don't know anything about the story, though. How can we say she was the MOST important character? How do you know Luna is nothing like Stella? We may have seen them in action, but we haven't seen anything in context.

Why go down the rabbit hole of second guessing all the things we don't know? lol

but the thing is we never much to begin with so why be upset? ( i'm not referring to you but in general) Maybe Nomura approved the changes for all we know? i mean she already looked drastically different at the E3 reveal when he was still in charged.

OG stella looked the best imo.

They showed "Stella" a few times briefly a long ass time ago, back when the game was practically... nothing. The team was reshuffled and they began work on the actual game proper. We don't really know if that Stella has been carried over or done away with in favor of a slight redesign and name change, but that's still not a spoiler or anything close to a spoiler. Again, it's a design decision. Characters are frequently redesigned and renamed during production.

If I'm making a movie, and I show concept art for an alien named Teedus, but then I decide I don't like the name "Teedus" and decide to go with "Tidus" instead, that's not a spoiler. It just means that the creator has changed his or her mind, or that something has been altered during production. It sounds like some of you guys are taking "Stella" and creating a myth out of her when it's not that complicated.

And the reason why they don't say stuff about shit sometimes is because they've always been weird about almost everything. :p
