Final Fantasy XV Demo Previews/Impressions Thread

I could see it hit the 78-82 range, but I haven't read any impressions on it from the press so it's a blind guess. I just feel the game has what it takes to get an average like that from the Western press.

The only thing I read from the press so far is Jason (Kotaku) saying that he liked it.

The rest of the press just wants to talk about XV...

I can't blame the press.

Some of us have been waiting to see this game in action for 9 long years.

I do hope Type 0 HD takes many people by surprise... I've been wanting to play this game since I saw the PSP trailer about 5 years ago.

Haha, funny thing is, I noticed that day that nobody really talked about this because it got overshadowed by the demo's embargo breaking and all the press previews coming in a week ago. Wanted to post it but was busy with the previews, too^^
Wan & Sun explain a few things about their respective work in general (Wan = culture, Sun = buddy-AI) and they show off the Wiz Chocobo Post and battle tutorial with Gladio. You could skip over a few parts and listen to some. It's nothing too important if you don't have 30min to spare, right now.

Alright well i'm watching through it now. That's where y'all got the "The money" picture from? xD

The polyon and shader details of models is truly mind bending for Ep Duscae. Here's a snap during the creation of the following GIF:

The models really aren't high poly in the bodies at all. It was the same thing with FF13 games. The guys that make models are just great at maximizing polygons.

If the store doesn't update at midnight tomorrow I'm just going to go to gamestop, I'm not waiting for that late ass update lol

Yeah... that's annoying. It really doesn't matter much what console I play this on but I was running out of room for my X1's hard drive and wanted to download it on my PS4.. I didn't see a single advertisement on Type 0...not even after I searched for the game... Nothing came up anywhere...whereas the X1 has Type 0 plastered all over the place right now.

I just deleted some stuff and bit the bullet.

Any word on why SE and PS NA hasn''t posted Type 0 up for preorder yet? At this point i'll probably get the physical copy.

More specifically I asked them and they would not elaborate further beyond the game only having a pre-load on Xbone in NA despite European PSN getting it.

With Duscae "out of the way", we're probably getting something very special for E3, right?

It's kinda up in the air whether that'll be the last E3 before the game's release.

I could see them skipping it, and pushing the hype campaign to TGS15 and E3 2016.

I don't understand how they're making money by not providing the game.

Prominent advertisements. Deals between publishers and platform owners are usually just for marketing purposes rather than a direct transaction of money. Kind of like what they did with those FFXIII commercials with Xbox 360 branding.

There is definitely a deal that went down between Square Enix and Microsoft US.

It seems like Square is going out of its way to showcase the xbox1 version of the demo in the west? Wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft gets the advertising rights for the western release of the full game like they had with FFXIII.

I highly, highly doubt that.

Really?

They'll want to push Heavensward and Tomb Rider as much as possible this E3.

I could see them announcing a new game too, and maybe FFXII HD, KH HD for PS4, etc.

But if FFXV isn't going to come out before late 2016, they'll probably take a media break for some time.

AFAIK there isn't any sort of deal going on from what I was told elsewhere.
SE was likely showing the XB1 version out of its UK division to try and drum up more sales because from what can be gathered right now is pre-sales for that platform have been quite low.

Wouldn't that be ironic for a game originally marketed as a Playstation 3 exclusive.

So it seems that it will be impossible to preorder Type-0 HD on the US PSN. However, this article claims that as long as you buy Type-0 HD within 2 months of its release you'll still get Episode Duscae:
The main thing to keep in mind here is that you can still technically "buy" the demo with the digital version for two months before it goes away. So if you don't have the money right now for Type-0 HD and want to play it, don't sweat it.
Is this the case? Or some kind of miscommunication?

It seems a bit weird that no one is willing to speak about the lack of PS4 digital pre orders. I'm going Xbox one with this anyway, preloaded and ready to go, but still I imagine this is a psn issue and not some sort of weird, destiny esque marketing exclusivety deal.

XIII got a lot of free passes from outlets because "FF" at the time.

Yup, they were still coming off the back of their name and prestige. This time FF has to prove itself all over again.

XIII had hype, but I think it's plan overstatement to say they were riding off prestige. All the FFVII stuff had happened at that point with the only thing produced that had merit being Crisis Core and FFXII was four years old. Plus XIII was delayed and we know what's becane of Agito and Versus.

If FF wasn't a joke in 2010, it was certainly getting there.
