You don't know what it's like.
Rallying the troops. Uniting FF fans and hyping everyone for Gamescom and the trailer. Look at my thread for the 'Dawn' trailer tease. Everyone was so optimistic and happy. They all believed because I promised them riches.
Then reality slapped us in the face. Tabata wronged us and fooled us with his trickery.
I must shoulder that responsibility and atone for his sins. This crushing disappointment is a result of people following me in to hell. It was like lambs to slaughter.
I gotta go_ly_dow for a while, but one day I shall return and rise again.
the bolded is my psn name..add me.XV GAF!
I don't think that confirms swimming is dead, just water battles.

I always look forward to a new FF with fond anticipation, but I never get that worked up. Down that route lies madness. As my long-time favorite series, I feel I owe each game at least an open mind when I play it.
Marketing missteps may be frustrating, but I don't believe they're predictive of the final product's quality
Some of them don't deliver in the end (e.g., 8), but they're all interesting in their own way.
Great interview by Tabata
But still, the Marlboro area looks near Duscae, and until now they only showed three areas since the game "reboot" (Duscae, Lestallum and a small part of Accordo).
Is hard to believe that this game will be released before 2017.
One of the other reasons why we are putting out information in that form, in that kind of in-progress video, is really down to the current stage of the game's development. There are different options about how to do this: one would be to focus on one area on the game and polish that to the finished level of quality, and use that to make a trailer, but if we did that it would really affect the overall development of the game and cause bottlenecks in some places. Instead, at the moment we are in a phase of fleshing out the game and filling in all the assets, and then polishing them up across the whole game, which is a lot more efficient way of doing it. Rather than focusing on making trailers that look great, we really work on the game as it should be worked on and showing that as our new information.
The thinking behind the Active Time Reports wasn't "this is great for FFXIV, we want to do the same thing".
We thought the best way to address this was to be honest with them, to let them know what we were thinking,
when you release information about a game very early, as it was the case with Versus XIII which is a game that never really took shape
the Eidolons play a very big part in the story and are very much an integral part of the game world
The way we look at summons in this game, they are not random animals or monsters, they are very intelligent creatures with their own thoughts and their own agendas.
it's about 60 to 80% complete,

Thanks, it's good stuff. I'd recommend reading it.
- 2016 confirmed yet again
- 300 people working on the game currently
- "Rather than focusing on making trailers that look great, we really work on the game as it should be worked on"
- All the FNC terms/names are gone so the game is not confused with XIII
- No completely new eidolons, they're all traditional ones
- One eidolon is in a completely new, unexpected form
- "They are not random animals or monsters, they are very intelligent creatures with their own thoughts and their own agendas"
- Marlboro area is unfinished, 60-80% complete
- Game is very grounded to reality, but there will be more fantasy elements later
Just like the ones from XIV they were just mentioned?!
Another 5% done in just one day, I feel the release is just a few weeks ahead.
I'd rather get awesome trailer every few months that showing unfinished and unpolished parts of your game. Thank you very much.

I don't understand.... he said no new eidolon but he says one completely new?
Does he mean one of them is traditional one but in completely different design?

Yeah, what's your point?
He's talking about the Marlboro area.
Well he just said in your quote that they don't have time to go all Nomura on trailers while they have a game to develop too, so don't hold your breath.
If they did that, they would take maybe more time polishing the "great" trailers than working on the game instead, which is not an option since they want to release the game in 2016. I'm more okay with them showing me tidbits of their work and be reassured that they still continue to work on the game during that time than having them waste their time on another fancy trailer.

I don't see EA delaying Star Wars because they have to create good trailer for it, screams like bullshit. Is a common practice on the industry. Seriously, is like the first time I heard something like that.
Not only that but ATR is generally something that only preaches to the choir. It's not something casual observers will even really see.One thing I like about Tabata from this interview is that he's fully aware that Gamescom was a weak showing by them, but he's not crying too much about it and already thinking about how to undoing their miscalculation for future event. What I'm not too sure about is his insistence on using the similar ATR format to update us on FFXV's development. I think I speak for many people that at this point, people want strong showing in each major events than peanuts every month.

3) Screams like bullshit, all that effort on ATR could be expend on a good trailer every few months. Is what every other company does there after all.

1) He seems terribly oblivious that aspect of the game is neither that special and unique, when he was just mentioned a game that exactly does the same. Is not the first time he tries to go "Look at this incredibly new approach to summons!" when several FF games did the same. Is hilarious and sad at the same time
He doesn't want to show trailers based on unfinished footage, they need to polish every area they're making a trailer from and that would hinder their overall development progress of working on every area at once.
There will be trailers for sure but not a dozen of them at this point of development, chill out.
I don't see him screaming from the mountain top that this something unique to XV. He is right that the focus on summon as individual beings rather than a force of nature is special among FFs as there are 2 mainline FFs that put heavy emphasis on summon as their plot: X and XIV and even in XIV most of them are treated the same: Brainwashing followers to feed them aether so that they can materialised and wreck shit in the real world - only a few novelty ones stray from that path (Ramuh, King Mog and maybe Ravana/Shiva, all of which did not appear in version 2.0 but was later added on as patches) If Tabata wants to put more emphasis on summons as a coherent part of the world then more power to him.
If swimming is cut that can only be a good thing. Without fail every game I have ever played has had god awful and annoying swimming.
Like Dawn?
:/
He did, and several times in interviews.
Is not about he's putting emphasis in that aspect, is how he wants to make it like is unique to the series.

More "Please Understand", nothing really here to be positive. They are doubling down on ATR which is still a mistake.

Then can you find me the exact quote where he said this have never been done before in the series? Because he is right the the sense that the majority of FFs treated summons simply as a game play element
Are you thinking about underwater swimming? I think regular swimming is fine and fairly important to open for various opportunities to explore.
I knew it, the dog is actually Fenrir!!!!!!!
Fenrir: Ah fuck I'm just going to be a cute doge.
