The only game I'm okay with Toriyama making is a cheap mobile game so that he replace Ito's place, and Ito could come back and work on console RPG again.
I'm hoping Itou is on FF16, not Toriyama.
Give Toriyama Chrono Break or Valkyrie Profile 3 or something, assuming he didn't use up their design docs already making FFXIII sequels.

Still looking forward to Toriyama's game. At the least, I should be able to expect an excellent battle system and a very strong cinematic presentation.
He's very talented, it's just so unfortunate that he's not well-rounded enough that his flaws impact the things he's great at.

The problem is Toriyama isn't a game designer, he's an event planner. It means his strengths are in story and scenario. The reason his games have 'excellent' battle systems is the involvement of game design underlings. There's no talent from Toriyama in that department.Still looking forward to Toriyama's game. I was going to say this. Toriyama is a story guy. He is not a game designer. If a game directed by him has good battle system, like X-2, he shouldn't be taking much credit for it. Same if it was not as good, like XIII.
I vote for Yoshida on the next FF game.

They could always put the guy on FF11 on over. Will he ever get a chance to in the short term? It's not like ARR's going to slow down anytime soon, considering its current position especially.

Ito hasn't done anything meaningful since International Zodiac Job System.Over Ito?
Over Ito?
Janitors can't make games.
I'm more worried about who in the company can write a good plot.

He wasn't even given a chance!! D:

If he's a janitor, he could clean up the mess Toriyama left on the franchise...took a huge dump on the IP last gen.
None that I could think of TBH. They need to find new talent on this aspect, or get the proven big guns like Yasumi Matsuno.
Hasn't Matsuno said he likes absolute control over his story etc and didn't like working on XII at first because even that element was collaborative?Given the constraints put on the development of XIII-2 and LR (significantly lower budget, tight deadlines, mandatory asset reuse and outsourcing); I'd be legitimately curious if there were any way to salvage a coherent scenario from the mess they had to work with after XIII's tortured development. Though that doesn't excuse the trash they ended up going with...
I don't think Matsuno could survive another mainline FF. It'd be great if he could eventually agree to collaborate on a smaller project, even if he wasn't directing.
That pic basically looks like he's got more volumous hairin that he doesn't look a million miles from Yakuza Regis.
I'd actually say Toriyama's strengths are DIRECTING cutscenes and flow of the game(when he isn't the writer of that game). Story and scenario, as they are, aren't his strengths. Storytelling is probably one of his flaws. And it don't help that he was paired with Watanabe during the FFXIII trilogy. The problem is Toriyama isn't a game designer, he's an event planner. If he's up for the task, we'd all love to have him. I said before, there seems to be a shortage of "great" directors at Square. The only ones there who have been proven to handle a big scale FF project are Kitase and Itou(who is MIA). Sakaguchi's gone(he was probably one of the best leaders there). Tokita seems reluctant try(and given what his games have become, would we want him to?). Who else? Toriyama's only good if he's kept in check(which would defeat to purpose of having him as a "leader" of someone has to constantly "lead" him). Tabata, after this, will probably fizzle out and solely work on smaller projects(mainly his Type-series).I vote for Yoshida on the next FF game.

I want Nomura for FF16.... He's a perfectionist, but the only reason why Versus-13/15 took forever to begin with was because he only had like 10 people working on the game until it became 15, but at that point he was moved out so he could go make Kingdom Hearts 3.
That's not why he was moved. KH3 already had a director who is still in that roll.

If KH3 is ending the Xheranort Saga, and FF7:re should be out a year or two after 15, does that mean he will have time to make 16 or 17 afterwards?
