I don't even know what to make of this footage. It looks beautiful, there is no doubting that.

But stealth? Turrets? I mean I don't even know what the hell is happening here. Am I watching Final Fantasy? Because it looks a helluva lot more like Metal Gear or Assassin's Creed....

This footage just made me nervous.

FF8 was out a long time ago.

It's honestly no different than the original Versus footage.

The stealth is optional and the way Tabata made it sound the turrets are as well. The objective is to destroy that base, and the turrets will pack a bigger punch and work much faster to do that. But you can probably just do it through magic and regular attacks if you want.

OH BOY A STEALTH SEQUENCE IN A NON-STEALTH GAME

THIS IS SURE GONNA BE FUN AND NOT ANNOYING LIKE ALL THOSE OTHER STEALTH SEQUENCES IN GAMES NOT FOCUSED ON STEALTH

The difference here is that it looks like they have good stealth mechanics in place, but you can still fight directly if you want.

Nah,looks closer to KH2 combat than anything from Platinum.

KH2 is more fluid/flexible (FF XV is more realistic) and faster paced than this. Also with more flashing lights.

Honestly it just feels like its own thing. Maybe a little similar to Type-0, but way better.

Thank god it isn't one of those insta-fail stealth sections in an RPG, complete with all the jank associated with a game whose movement system wasn't designed for stealth.

Stealth sequences has been in FF since a long time now.

Maybe not turrets directly, but mechanisation of FF has been a long time now. This is just making playable what was in older games just CGi cutscenes.

And stealth was in ff7. Literally all we are seeing here is the ff formula in modern tech. Stealth isn't new, cars isn't new, roadtrips etc whatever other thing people wanna nitpick out. Only thing different is its an action rpg.
Stealth was in FF12 and FF13 had preemptive attacks as well.

Wait, didn't they say we weren't going to be able to control different characters? Could've sworn there were a lot of complaints last year that only Noctis was playable.

Did they slow down the combat? I really see a HEAVY Noctis over there, also there is some weird jerkiness which I cannot explain exactly..
Well, it's simply not my style, I am just incompatible with Tabata, Shinomura makes wonders though.

I didn't watch the ATR (or really keeping up with the game) but have they broke down the mechanics of the combat? Like what triggered that dual tech-like X-strike and are those bits where it's cutting to another character player controlled, both in terms of controlling the character and when it triggers? Also, why are Ignis and Gladius' life bars flashing red?

It's still Noctis only. The camera switching to the other characters is when you activate certain actions with them once they level up. It'll switch to them while they cast a certain spell before going back to Noctis.

It's not like mechanical war machines haven't been a part of the series since the earlier years:

People need to get schooled on this series. A lot of things they think are "new and strange" have been a part of the series for a LONG time.

Like impractical designs :D Dont worry this thread will go that way in about a day or so.
Gameplay looks solid to me, just hoping it doesnt come out around the same time as p5, but man all these years waiting look like they're about to pay off.

Preach. Makes you wonder if they ever really knew or played FF.

I'm not sure what's worse, the people who are coming into this thread without seeing any type of previous footage or news of the game(one google search is all it takes), and somehow hoping this will be like FF 1-6, or the people who come into this thread saying "this looks bad" without explaining why.

Im just looking at that stealth part and thinking to myself "i gotta play this section twice" on one hand i want to see if i can handle stealth and on the other that base lools like perfect grinding material.

Good lord, I've been itching to play this game since Duscae. They seem to have improved things quite a lot, specially the camera when in battle.

Fuck I've been kinda tepid on this game so far, but every time they show it off it's looking better and better. Has a 2016 release date or a PC version been confirmed yet?

It's a mix of both with I think some people trying to poke fun at the games obvious troubled dev cycle. But any who has really followed this and the lead up to the March event. We'll be seeing pretty much the final build of the game soon. It'll be a huge info blowout really.

Honestly this isn't that big of a deal in the end and I don't know if many people feel this way but I really feel like the UI's style was at its best at the E3 reveal back then. I'm not talking about the features but the look of it. It's always been minimalistic but I really feel like they've been slowly taking out little things that made it unique.

The health bars in the lower right look so generic now.
