Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

I don't think Tabata had the luxury of implementing his own concepts in the first place. The game's plot feels like an abridged, incomplete, T-rated, butchered version of what the Versus trilogy was intended to be.

You can pinpoint many of the ideas that's originated from Versus easily if you played the game. The kings of Lucis are the fal'cie, Noctis is a L'cie, the ring is something Nomura talked about 7 yeas ago, the Prompto being from Nifelheim thing was hinted on many years ago, with him using guns and all. Then you have the endless night (which is mentioned in Somnus's lyrics) and the "Noctis sleeps for 10 years" thing which fits directly with the sleeping motif that was very present in Versus, and not so much in XV.

I strongly believe the overall plot of the game didn't differs a lot from Versus in XV, it's just a very abridged, fucked up version of it.
was the change to tabata needed then?

I highly suspect "An act of love by the last king" being the ending, too.

Honestly, there are too many pieces that do fall into place that makes me think what Sora's saying is true.

Why did I come to this thread :(

Oh wow, that second half is something else. I lost track of the chapters as they fly by really fast, and turns out I'm in chapter 13.

Super rough stuff. There's some good ideas and cool moments in there but it's really clumsy. People mentioned Type-0 similarities and it kind of feels like the last act from that game where it was evident they ran out of time and had to wrap up everything very quickly so everything just kind of happens. Lots of stuff happening off screen, exposition out of nowhere... It's not completely uninteresting but boy is it random. You also see flashes of what could have been and it makes me a little bit sad, can't shake it out.

Sounds like I'm really negative but I still find the game enjoyable. It feels very very rushed and undercooked from a story perspective, though. The amount of last minute rewrites and cut content must have been gigantic.

Yeah you're at the point in the game that almost broke me.
Chapter 13 is much longer than it needs to be.

We don't know much about Versus besides speculation and what we personally feel about the base concepts though, not their actual forms nor their implementation, or how the "Versus saga" would have even played out.

Saying the plot as we got it is how Versus would have gone is a bridge too far i think. We only have some elements carried over that have survived or are similar to what we saw in those days at this point. Its a shadow of a lot of muddled concepts and ideas

I don't think much of tabata's own concepts for the game really were pulled across in this game, let alone anything nomura had originally wanted to do.

It feels like the project went in a direction through multiple reasons that really doesnt represent anyone on it. It has an identity crisis that doesn't fully establish what it even is or wants to be.

i don't think tabata would have shipped a game with so many weird loose ends and convenient bullshit if he could help it

this is why i feel like development troubles and deadlines were primarily the factor that led to this kind of result

In some ways it reminds of XIIIs development issues. Wasn't it true that they hadn't even come up with a real battle system until they had to ship that demo? Or perhaps XIV before the revamp though I only know a little of that mess.

I suppose it's fitting since XV is something of a remnant from those days. I'd like to say that with it finally put to bed they can move forward, but who can say?

I think the best case scenario is for them to move on wholesale to a new idea, that's just my opinion though

i wonder if the game gets shit on by everyone for its story that Tabata will try to fix it by maybe adding in cutscenes they didn't have time to finish. I'd imagine in reality that he just wants to move on from this. Ain't the DLCs being headed by someone else?

I think we've all had enough of a fantasy based on feedback. Take the lumps and move on guys :(

I'm sure you can do better next time

Speaking of L'cie, maybe Zombie Ravus' resemblance to the Cie'th is more than just coincidence...

in what way?

It's hard to fix such issues when iedolas dies offscreen and let me not get started on Ravus or Regis who's practically nonexistent

Strongly recommend that everyone who has finished the game check this out: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/5ezdx9/spoilers_secret_dungeon_found_and_completed/

Some are saying that this last one is all platforming and puzzles with no boss or anything, which would be a bit of a bummer if true.

No I completely agree and I think we can now move forward and put this behind us. Just have to hope XVI is a lot smoother of a production.

True but Tabata said mighty high words saying his goal is to surpass FFVII so there is a chance he might not let it end like this.

Nobody is going to 'surpass' FF7 with this kind of thing, i think that is something they can't even begin to address

Following on from how the story was retrofitted from Versus XIII, it wouldn't have been a stretch for him to be a Cie'th in a version of the game that was tied to the FNC mythos.

If we even know what Versus's version of cieth even were to begin with, if they existed. They were not going to necessarily be anywhere near similar to 13's Cieth, as Type 0's lcie were not close to those concepts either

i found this from nomura about the potential sequels about xv

Obviously we haven't decided yet. We don't have any concrete plan for a future sequel of FFXV, it would be good if we could do that but we can't announce it or say anything into detail for the moment.

One of the leakers from 4chan said the 3 games of Versus were as follow:

1st one is saving Stella from the empire
2nd one is reclaiming your throne
3rd one is fighting the gods

what leakers? I doubt they would know about nonexistent versus games not even created yet

Noctis deserved better

Agreed. You should see his (Noctis) face when Bahamut told him his fate is to die in order to save the world.

How can someone have the heart to kill off the best main protagonist in the history of FF? His bros aren't helping either. Prompto should at least act like what Tidus did to Yuna ie 'there's gotta be another way, let's find another way.'

Noctis died for the greater good.. to return the light to FF.

I want to play the game again but I'm dreading ch.13 I'll probably focus on the post game goods for now.

Suddenly this game becomes more interesting when applied to meta commentary of the development hell it went through.

I dont think the concept should have been continued in general.
not contunied use the charachters in other games like kingdom hearts i mean there already charachter in unchained x that almost like stella

I don't know how she is almost like Stella, at least visually.
Flip the coloring, change the bangs to side bangs, and it is Stella in a nutshell. Even her fierce but delicate personality kind of reflects what we originally knew of Stella back in the Versus XIII days.

For anyone who's done Scraps of Mystery quests, does anyone know where to get the 1st one? It's telling it's by the campsite next to the Balouve Mines. But I can't find it anywhere.
