Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

That December patch is definitely not coming. 10 days left till Christmas and they still haven't released the patch that gives us Xmas themed decorations? SureJan.gif

I'm taking a break from the game until we get that pro patch. I'm honestly hoping that we get some QoL updates too–ideally something that lets you take on multiple hunts, or that doesn't force you to return to the huntsman after the hunt is completed.

......Oh man new areas beyond Lucis? Sweet. This dlc sounds exciting hmmm
There's an area to the north we can't explore in-game:

DLC artwork shows Gladio in craggy, cavern filled areas, which also aren't in-game:

I hope we see Galahd, it would justify Kingsglaive a little bit

It's done. Did you ignore the last sentence?

ah sorry, didn't see that.

While I agree with you that a "difficult through death" isn't what this game does, it can definitely be a crawl in some battles when items need to be used up the wazzo. Costlemark kicked my ass with those Granade enemies (i realized really late that they don't die upon exploding and they shoot out 2+ bombs when they explode) and doing the 3 red giants + nagarani part 4 times was killer.

I'd definitely say some fights were difficult, but the game doesn't equate its difficulty with death, merely consumption and annoyance.

Hopefully a hard mode is added in with an item cap of 10.
I'd also like a NG+ mode where you stay the level you are in the save you use, but all enemies have a 50 level increase no matter the enemy. That would be fun :3

Finally got through Chapter 13. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it and it was way too long.
Then I made it back to the real world, after 10 years, and Talcott asked me if I remembered Jared.
LIKE I COULD EVER FORGET.

"Danger" should need phoenix down to exit
Elixirs should just restore hp+mp
Max hp reduction should go completely
Losing all hp on danger mode is game over only for noct, allies can be rezzed.

That's how I'd have it. The game doesn't need 2 states of what is basically "almost death"

I gotta good feeling it'll be in the trench between Cleign and Duscae. Also I expect for whatever area we get to not be added in the main game.

I want my new game plus, badly. Thought it was supposed to be part of the game. I wouldn't mind outfits for the characters either.

Multiple hunts plus not having to go back after completing would be incredible. I also suck at landing the car and it's really annoying that it has to reload your game, loading takes a while. Make the punishment less severe, not a straight to game over screen.

Honestly just totaling your car (forcing you to get it towed to Hammerhead for repairs) and ejecting you wherever you land would be a fine punishment. Or, you know, just make it perfectly easy to land like every other airship ever.

Honestly all I would want from the airship is to make the decelerated speed much slower than it is. I found that all of my issues were mostly because despite holding L2, the flying car is so damn fast. Just make it considerably slower and I'll be happy.

well i beat Pitioss Ruins. it's a really neat idea for a dungeon and I can't believe how big it is...but it was by far the most frustrating thing to do so far.

So far the hardest part of the Daurell Cavern sealed dungeon is me struggling to find a way to get to it...
I THINK the only way to do it is to trigger the enemies near the platform with the ladder you can't reach to appear and warp to the ledge above the platform. Jump down on the platform and wait for bros to deal with the enemies, after which you can kick down the ladder and go to the sealed door.

At least that's how I did it.

Edit:
I'm having second thoughts about maybe grinding a bunch of AP using the Shield of Just method and give the 8th Sealed Dungeon a second try.
I just need to know if Comeback ascension ability bring characters back to full full HP?

Just wrapped up everything from chapter 13 to the end of the story.
While chapters 10-13 were poorly paced duds chock full of exposition and weird meaningless reveals, chapter 14 was exactly the emotional finale I wanted from this game.
All the core four moments were heartfelt and had me choking up. I enjoyed the final fight with Ardyn as well.
And the main menu and logo change were so cool! Love it.
Ready to hop back in tomorrow and work on postgame stuff since I didn't even touch any of the extra dungeons yet.

Yea, it seemed to be the only way. Ended up doing that myself.

I fully believe an insane level designer built that dungeon over the course of the last 10 years, little by little in their free time and snuck it into the game when no one noticed..

Just stumbled across the Field Medicine accessory, which apparently works in the Costelmark Sealed Dungeon? Hope that's true lol
Isn't there an accessory for Ignis which makes him use an Elixir on Noctis when his HP goes below 50%? I thought I had that. Might be misremembering things.

Well, I finished up the story to this tonight/this morning. Yeah, this was very disappointing. I would say that it crashed and burned, but the story never got off the ground too high to begin with. I knew it would get bad but this was pretty damn bad. I wish I could articulate it better at the moment, but I'm just kind of bummed and tired.

OMG! I got a Titan summon during an Adamantoise fight and he just runs in and starts punching the turtles face repeatedly pow pow!

I like that it did like, no damage to the Adamantoise. I got Shiva myself during the fight, and don't think she did anything either.

Did she do anything special animation wise? I haven't seen Ramuh either. Not sure if Levi can ever spawn there but I've sometimes it seems like she can spawn from a puddle in the road.

So I just read about the Daurell Caverns glitch. What I'm reading is if you go inside, spawn the boss and then leave without beating him, he won't respawn afterwards. Now, I went into the dungeon but didn't make it to the boss... Will mine be glitched, too?

I read somewhere that someone contacted Square-Enix support about this, and they told the person this would be fixed in the next patch. Wonder if that's true.

So the flying car controls like crap eh?

okay, i don't get this complaint. It controls fine, its the landing and taking off that can be finicky. And even then, if you know what your doing its not particularly difficult to land (I think its easier to land if Ignis is driving iirc).

Its a miracle that the dialogue amongst the 4 main characters flows as well as it does.

I can't believe Square still keeps them in separate rooms.

Ray Chase(noctis VA) just said that.

Yeah, he also mentioned how they actually tried to do paired sessions, but that it didn't work well with the dubbing process.

Square really takes good care of their voices in games - the stress on quality is really appreciated, and we were really able to focus in on each individual line.
So they did something unusual - we did a group session just to try it out, for the 'leaving Insomnia' CG scene we went two at a time. Unfortunately it just wasn't possible... Because it's a dub we have to get our lines perfectly in sync with the Japanese already recorded, and the flow you get doesn't work with a partner when you both have to be within 5 frames of the reference material. Oh well!

Interesting.I think they need to figure out a way to do it.

Seems to be possible with CG movie productions.Don't see how its so drastically different for cutscenes.

But I appreciate the actors much more now.Its just really, really tough to get a convincing result & they still do.

Only had Titan summon when at the Vespapool he pops out of lake n throws a rock had it twice in a row. Even had leviathan who didn't summon over him

You also gotta consider the scope. 2 hours of script (which isn't wall-to-wall) vs an entire game.

Ramuh and Shiva can be summoned anywhere, Titan and Leviathan can only be summoned in specific places.

Apparently, outside of CG cut scenes (which they only had screenshots of), they didn't have many visuals to dub over. So they were probably going for a lot of cadence and timing when dubbing and not through seeing how characters reacted.

But I agree that hopefully something can be done to mitigate this.

edit: also what falk said: Scope. Also availability of the actors hurts potential in combined takes.

Nope, same old 'freeze Noctis, show some ass and split into copies' scene. Leviathan can absolutely spawn in the desert. I seem to get her exclusively there. I've still never seen Titan.

Seriously mad props to everyone who worked on this.(editors/engineers too)

I mean...The banter actually sounds like intimate banter, despite each line being recorded individually ,and in absence of other actors.

Finished this mother. Had a lot of fun, but... no denying the sloppy story telling. Also, I'm still super confused about the ending, even though it had a lot of emotional resonance (brilliant use of Prompto's photos during the ending!).

Is there a good post around here that tries and explains all the different plot threads?

I don't get why Noct had to kill Ardyn again, and why his doing so somehow cleared the eternal night. I don't get what a parasitic infection has to do with a changing day/night cycle. I don't get how the crystal plays into all this. I don't get how the gods play into this. I don't get the original history that led to the plague of stars either. And what was Noct doing for 10 years before Ch. 14? Was he in crystal stasis? Just chilling at Angelgard?

From what I gather the parasite was changing people into demons. Ardyn was the prime host for the parasite since he's the one who stopped the scourge 1000 years prior. The only way to finally kill of the parasite was to kill him. I think that's it. I'm not sure why there was no sun though... magic?

I assume Noct was in some sort of Crystal stasis for 10 years. He didn't seem aware of the passage of time.

The Starscourge are magic parasites that eat light, which seems to literally mean they block out sunlight from the world (but too much hurts them, hence why demons are weak to sunlight and bright fluorescent lights). People infected by the Starscourge eventually become demons (monsters). The Starscourge was created by Ifrit, who unlike the other 5 gods who either like or tolerate humans, was a giant dick and wanted to get rid of us.

The Crystal is the source of magic and light, gifted to humanity via the Lucian kings by the gods. The other countries apparently had crystals at one point as well but they were either lost or broken. When Noct goes inside the Crystal for 10 years he is basically absorbing its power so he can fight Ardyn. Ardyn himself used to use the Crystal to heal people of the Starscourge back in his day by absorbing the evil into himself, but he did it too much and became demonic himself (which is why he was "betrayed" by the Gods/'Izunia") They made him immortal so he could never enter the afterlife and took his kingdom from him, which is why he hates Noctis and his family so much.

Ardyn then worked with Ifrit to find a way to destroy humanity and the line of Lucii via the Starscourge and eternal night. Which involved Ardyn becoming Chancellor of the Empire and convincing the Emperor to wage a giant war on everybody to get rid of the crystals and start using magitech to to jumpstart the whole demon thing.

At least, that's how I understand it.
