Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

No wonder the Amicitia didn't give a damn.

Seriously, can someone explain why they A) didn't coordinate his design or even name and B) didn't mention him dying at all in the game? Did they just forget? Gladio snapping at Noctis would have made so much more sense, especially in the Titan dungeon. I sat there and was like: Come one, mention Gladio's father's death and this scene would have actually made sense. D:

It's okay. It'll be patched up.

What's really shocking is that at one point Stella and Luna were gonna meet in the game.

I suspected Iggy would get blind since Ifrit's intro.

Dude with dark glasses and some kind of scars in his eyes? Yeah dude gets blind. Felt like SE was trying to spoil me there lol

Putting Ifrit's intro just starting the game was a big mistake IMO.

Honestly I didn't feel like Brotherhood added much to the bro's relationship, maybe other than Prompto episode. Rest of episodes were rather superflous.

Yeah I'm gonna wager that 95% didn't notice his glasses or scar during that brief intro where the attention to the scene was on everything except his scar

I think the only voice I liked in the game was Ardyn. Felt leagues ahead of anyone else in the game. Gladio's bothered me basically any time he spoke because it sounded so…unnatural? I guess, Iggy's was okay. Prompto's was kind of an achievement in that it actually didn't make me hate the character. And then Noctis's was ruined by the constant fucking slurping, any time he pauses, or is in pain, or is tired you get that grating slurp.
Every time I heard Ardyn talk it reminded me of how much I miss Tony Jay, and how if they ever being back the soul reaver games, they need to get Ardyn's VA in there.

kingsglaive is straight-trash and I hold everyone who suggested that watching it will aid in one's enjoyment of the game personally responsible for the two hours I lost of my life last night

Holy shiiiit, fuck that 100 level dungeon at Steyliff (lvl 86), and fuck the little yodas. Jesus , finished it, but practically cleared out my potion inventory and it took me about 6 hours.

Isn't this Ravus?

I went into that dungeon on accident and had no clue what I was in for. Luckily I had Aranea on my side throughout the entire dungeon. The Yodas were fine. It was the constant barrage of three Tonberries that were hellish.

Yeah I know if you see it just once you don't really notice it. I already saw that intro a bunch of times between streams and Judgment disc so I ende dup catching it.

What an immense waste of effort and resources...crazy.

Seeing stuff like this, or how vast Altissia actually is (there are even shos and NPCs walking around) frustrates me more and more. :(

what, really? That sucks, both cities needed more space.

Actually, I find the world map kind of small. I mean, sure, it's big if you go from one point to another following the roads, but inside the map there's a lot of innaccesible spots with invisible walls (or pieces of land between roads you can't go down and explore).

Play the game then apologize afterward.

I've been playing the game, 3/4s of the way through it. None of the backstory provided by Kingsglaive felt terribly relevant to Noctis and his bro's story and it definitely wasn't worth sitting through 2 full hours of poor and creepy uncanny valley animation, terrible voice acting outside of Sean Bean, Lena Heady, and Aaron Paul, and dialogue that no human being could've possibly written.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the terrible editing, wtf is up with all the unnecessary fade-to-blacks?

Ah yeah thats what I meant, the rooms with the 4 little tonberries - brutal. The ones with the single lightsabre weilding yoda were ok. I just used the bow and promtpos special to wear him down. But the sheer length of it all was the major surprise.Finished the dungeon with about 8 potions left.

Now have to preapre for this last no item lvl 99 dungeon. Going to have farm some, AP and get some crazy magic ready for it I think.

Yeah, you can glitch out of Altissia's boundaries as well. Noctis even has a swimming animation. Some parts of the city, like the one outlined in pink...

...are basically finished. There are even NPCs and a shop.
I have the slight glimmer of hope, that they plan to add this part to the explorable area with the upcoming festival. It really looks as if it is supposed to be part of the explorable area. There are even bridges leading to it...that end at a wall.

Angelgard, the strange island near Galdin Quay, where Noctis was imprisoned, you can also reach and explore. It is huge.

All menace dungeons complete. Steyliff took around 2 hours and Costlemark around 1.5. Pretty easy really.

And with that, everything I wanted to do in post-game is done. Time to put this game to rest. Hopefully the next mainline Final Fantasy isn't as disappointing.

It's huge, empty, and not textured properly. The only thing of note there is the tomb where Noctis wakes up, but that is actually used in-game in the cutscene. There's the swords outside too, but I'm more of the thinking this was probably also intended for a different take of the waking up cutscene rather than for anything important, since the surrounding area is similarly barren/unfinished as the rest of the island is. I don't think you were ever gonna visit there, realistically. At least not in the 'modern' post-Versus vision of the game.

I cannot argue this. The editing in this game was abysmal.

There are many scenes that ended leaving me wondering if i pressed a button by mistake or something for a short second

Sorry, meant in Kingsglaive! Though I definitely think there's a lot of awkward stuff in the game too. It stands out more significantly when it's in a medium that has mostly figured this shit out than in one where awkward fades and cuts are still part of the norm.

The worldmap is honestly huge but felt small because of the lack of variety in locations :\

I just finished it and overall I liked it quite a bit. The story isn;t a discombobulated mess like XIII, its just not told particularly well. Its weird to be introduced to characters in a cutscene and the next time you see them they are dead, gone or referenced briefly, no real impact there. The pacing from the last 3rd of the game feels a bit rushed, but some of it I didn't mind. This could have been mitigated had they made the world of ruin explorable. That was a huge huge huge missed opportunity. Given the game's decade long trainwreck development, I'm still surprised it turned out as well as it did.

I finished it last night on Normal - about 45 hours and level 50.

A couple things - Chapter 13 wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says it was. I played through it over a few short sessions, though, so that could be why.

Also, I think they really nailed the last few chapters. I think Square had a really awesome story on their hands here, but they struggled quite a bit in how they TOLD the story. I blame that on the disjointed development cycle this game went through, which is rather unfortunate.

But man, the ending really hit me. I thought that mid-credits cutscene around their last campfire was really well done and very poignant.

better translation of previous info:

――Is there an event scene during the game that you were deeply involved with?

Tabata: For at least the ending I gave instructions down to a fine detail, and my intentions are reflected.

——What is the meaning behind the scene in the ending where Noctis and Lunafreya are shown?

Tabata: That’s up to the player’s imagination. What I really wanted to do with the ending was set up the last cut superimposed with the title logo. Noctis’s voice actor, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, saying “I want Noctis to be included in the logo” was the catalyst for the idea of adding both of them to the title logo’s illustration. I thought “If it’s only shown after the ending, it will be okay to add Noctis,” and when I had Amano (Yoshitaka Amano) draw it, I was amazed at the content of the ending, and that direction came to life.

——It may be a bit of a story, but what was with the dead bodies hanging like puppets from the ceiling in the throne room scene just before the ending?

Tabata: You could say that’s an expression of Ardyn waiting a long time for Noctis and co. in the throne room. Fashioning scenery like that and playfully desecrating the king’s space in the ten years he waited for Noctis are nuances of Ardyn’s twisted personality with its notions detached from normal sensibilities.

——Ardyn tries to complete his revenge by defeating Noctis, who had become king, but was his motivation entirely revenge?

Tabata: That’s right. There’s no profound reason behind it, as his actions were for the sake of reveling in the greatest possible pleasure for himself, to achieve revenge on Noctis at his strongest. Noctis’s misery is his own happiness. When the Empire presented a marriage between Noctis and Lunafreya as part of a treaty agreement with the Kingdom of Lucis, it was arranged to make Noctis inherit the power of the king.

If anyone that want's to see a better view of the corpses.

Gladio: "Why is everything such a big deal to Noct?"
Ignis: "Let him be as long as he's still alive"

This dialogue is really weird knowing how things end for Noct.

I'm so in love with Altissia. It's utterly beautiful for me. I barely can't handle it, lol. I find everytime something new. For example I just found a facade with a statue of leviathan's head. I desperately need a first person-view (or vr-mode) to admire every detail.

I also finished Pitioss (without any guide). Holy cow! That was diabolic!! That must be Eos' version of hell. But it's quite creative and overall I had a lot of fun with it. Wish for more things like that

This really is the most fucked up thing in a Final Fantasy ever. D: I was disgusted and in awe at the same time...

the more I think about that scene, the more pointless it is. And it makes Ardyn come off as needlessly "edgy".

Why would the gang care about the emperor or Nyx? And Ardyn was never shown to have any spite toward them to bother to do something like that to them.

Regis and Luna I could understand, but the party hardly reacted. And Ardyn spoke to each of them only once.

They made an in game old Regis just for that and the final attack. ugh

Hey guys

I am around level 55 with all characters, and have the legendary great sword that does around 850 dmg. If I play on easy mode for the fight can I do it? or will I be killed all the time? What else should I do to prepare for it and how long should it take?

One of the most terrifying monsters in the game is the super powered monster in front of the gate right before you face Ifrit. Isnt that a super Deadeye or something? That guy wrecked my team until I went Super Saiyan on him.

Its official name is Behemoth King. It's an ice-powered, winged version of Behemoth. And I agree, it's awesome. :-)

Altissia is fantastic. I can never find my way around it — its maze-like design makes it seem overwhelmingly complex — but I'm happy to get lost in it since it's so beautiful. Especially in the rain at night.

I'd love for them to add a Photo Mode to this game.

Just got around to completing Chapter 13. I didn't hate it, but the thing drags it down is how needlessly long it is. Like I said regarding the majority of the game's area you can explore, it could've been halved and felt much more a tighter experience. Same here. I love the horror feel of the area, creepy and Ardyn's voice egging you on. The "fake Prompto" goose chase and the poison gas segment should've been cut out, as should've the majority of the key card thing. Make it a more tight experience, make it so you are reunited with the bros faster and make it so this whole chapter doesn't overstay its welcome.

But yeah, I remember in another thread talking about horror situations in non-horror games, particularly Square games. Y'know, the "trial of blood" and Shinra Mansion part of FFVII, Magus's Castle and Geno Dome in CT, Solaris's ode to
Soylent Green
and Redrum in Xenogears. I said that THAT kinda thing was missing a lot in modern FF games, but WHOA, did this deliver. Reading all the memos lying around, seeing all the empty clothing and daemons lurking around, it's pretty up there! Even daemon emperor babbling on during the boss fight... kinda creepy stuff.

Also, am I the only one that noticed that before you enter the Zegnautus Keep, as soon as you enter the first area, if you tilt the camera up towards the sky, those strange flying creatures from the old trailer (the one with the blood red sky) are soaring around the Keep. That's pretty damn cool!

Wait, did they remove a scene but forget about the dialog?

I just collected the third Ramuh rune, saw an airship and have headed towards the next story marker at some base via foot/chocobo and the guys are talking about how Ardyn is the chancellor and how that was Prompto's first time on an airship...

Did my game glitch or what? I do recall people talking about an airship ride scene making no sense or something, but this dialog makes it worse.

It's how you leave the Titan area, Ardyn picks you up with an airship.
