Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

It's how you leave the Titan area, Ardyn picks you up with an airship.
I just figured that out after searching. I took a break from the game after being dropped off and forgot so it seems like so much in game time went by between then and these comments as a result lol.

But was it a cutscene or a chapter load blurb that shows the airship ride? I should search for a video walkthrough to catch up...

Me too. They have to die, it's a fitting end for the game imho.

They most likely didn't. If they did, the game put absolutely no weight into it, and gave no clues outside of the short 2 seconds they appeared behind Noctis before he sacrificed himself. Noctis says "I leave it to you", probably to help rebuild the new world in his absence.

Buuuuuttt logically speaking though, it doesn't really make much sense for them to have died outside the citadel. Ignis, Prompto and Gladio have survived ten years in the (literal) darkest timeline at its most dangerous, all without Noctis to help them.

Wouldn't make sense for them to die outside the citadel fighting a few iron giants when you pass like 10 of them on the way to hammerhead from Galden. They're all certainly better fighters than Noctis at this point, just not as powerful.

They don't actually show the ride, unfortunately. Only Ardyn picking them up. It would be a cool opportunity for some more interaction and questions receiving vague answers. :D

I wonder if this game is going to get the "Final Mix" treatment where it just gets a patch that places content into random points in the game

Adamantoise beaten and game platted

this was THE. WORST. FIGHT. EVER!

what was S-E thinking putting that boss in the game!?!?!

might as well called it the clipping god.

took me roughly 40 minutes to beat...think heavens for that soup

my team did nothing....

wait which soup?

Im guessing he is referencing the soup that guarantees critical hits? Forget what it is called.

Also just beat that boss. Long boring fight with little to worry about in terms of threat. But still cool to take out a giant.

Two more trophies for the plat. Grind out Noct's fishing skill along with Gladios survival skill.

I really can't understand or rather believe how bad FFXV's writing is, despite the world being so beautiful it is also incredibly lifeless and none of the quests help flesh it out. All of the side quests are fetch quests or monster hunts with barely any context to them. And, the merchants you encounter are just UI's with the same greeting. Pretty much any western RPG blows its writing out of the water.

Just take this simple scene from the Hearts of Stone Witcher 3 DLC:
https://youtu.be/BhAI1Pvyssk?t=17s

There is nothing fancy about this scene, you are simply talking to a type of merchant who, if you aid him, will craft enchantments for your weapons and armor. Thus, he could be compared to the character of Cid. Yet, notice how rich and alive his character seems, how wonderful his dialogue is. Nothing in his conversation is wasted, even your greeting to him explores his character. He regales you with tales of his homeland, thus providing the player some interesting lore and world building. He provides you with the context for his eventual quest. And, you understand why he ploys his specific trade. Again, he is a complete character and this is all done in one conversation.

Now, when you look at FFXV nothing like this is present in any side character or merchant, hell it's not even really present in the main characters either. FFXV's writing fails on every level from the grand plot to the tiny character interactions along the way.

Quest in FFXV:
NPC : "Are you that famous group of hunter?"
Noct : "Umm.. yeah, what of it?"
NPC : "Cool, can you help me check the valve around these parts of town? My back hurts."
Noct : "Sure, that's our job!"

The bad writing is also the reason why I'm not feeling the bonds between the characters like lots of Gaffers feel. Their banters are so anime and cheesy, I found myself cringed and rolled my eyes a lot. It's not even comparable to the likes of Bioware games, for example. Well, I know it's a Japanese game but I expected more from them after all those build up with the trailers and Brotherhood anime. And now they expect me to buy their DLCs?

there was someone in some other thread talking up how holly was an amazing female character and I couldn't help but roll my eyes

My back hurts, im scared of daemons, close some valves, climb some ladders

so dumb

Wait, who called Nocts phone on the train? Can't have been biggs and wedge since they'd just use the intercom, which they did just after.

The opening for that fight is amazing with your party members commenting how crazy it is trying to fight such a huge creature plus Shimomura's epic music kicking in.

Too bad the fight itself is devoid of any excitement or challenge whatsoever.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man (or in this case, woman), is king (queen.)

The absolute lack of properly developed characters make many appointed any character whatsoever with more than two lines of dialogue in this game as "good".

Heck, I would even--wait, let me get a flame shield first, hahaha---say Aranea is not really a good character and I just can't understand people's fascination with her beyond maybe she's just a character that interacts with the player more often in a game where character interaction is mostly devoid.

The worldmap is honestly huge but felt small because of the lack of variety in locations :\

I think there's a variety but they're all so damn small. The swamps of Vesperpool are awesome but just contained to that tiny area, there's a cool volcanic region around the volcano I forgot the name of but it's just isolated to a single dungeon, etc. Then of course there's the desert area in Chapter 10 that according to that glitch should have been much more and Chapter 12's icy area that definitely had to have been planned to be much larger.

There's a variety of locales but instead 90% of the map is forest/arid plains :/

Also can't believe they don't have a snow area.

Like, how can you make an open world RPG game with no snow area. SACRILEGE!

Shiva's area doesn't count since it is very small and it is not part of the open world.

See I took it as they did die. Mainly from the post-credit campfire talk, where Noctis talks about accepting their fate. He finally realized his destiny was never to be king, but to die to purge the land. What he couldn't bare was the fact that his friends were going to sacrifice themselves as well. I mean they did just go through two major boss fights and got wrecked by Ardyn before a horde of daemons spawn on them. I took it as their last stand.

I know it wouldn't have happened, but another year of development in the direction that we got the release and I feel like the gand have been sublime. Finish off the missing story elements, expand some of the areas that had work done on them, add more world of ruin stuff. But yea, would have been up there as one of my favourite Final Fantasy games I think.

One of the most terrifying monsters in the game is the super powered monster in front of the gate right before you face Ifrit. Isnt that a super Deadeye or something? That guy wrecked my team until I went Super Saiyan on him.

Its official name is Behemoth King. It's an ice-powered, winged version of Behemoth. And I agree, it's awesome. :-)

I warped straight into his face and Ramuh was immediately available to summon, I thought that you had to use him seeing as he doesn't take part of the fight with Ifrit. Guess that's a battle I won't be able to have, oh well.

They made an in game old Regis just for that and the final attack. ugh

The model for old regis was long ready before the game released, just look at the dawn trailer. I'm also pretty sure at start they intended this character to be more present through flashbacks and such but ended up not using him. Also maybe DLCs? One can only hope. Regis was the best "bro" and we barely get to know him lol

Maybe they'll show what we can expect from XV's cutscene patches
(ugh) during that 30th Anniversary thing later this month. But I shouldn't entertain that thought.

edit: according to Nocto (Ray Chase) in this interview they finished recording the Festival DLC and some of the Gladio DLC.
That's it.

A few Luna shots I took on PS4 Pro (High Detail), some cropped to focus more on her. Love her intricate hairstyle and the lacy shoulders on her dress. Also just noticed she has a crescent moon necklace:

That moment when you realize the "dreaded" Chapter 13 is actually the final dungeon.

The fact the ending is left to be up to us is a little silly, honestly.

I think Tabata modelled a lot of things in FFXV after successful aspects of previous FFs, in an attempt at replicating the same successes. For the ending he probably saw how the ending of FFVII for example generated a lot of debate back in the day and therefore wanted to do something similar. (Before the Compilation it was very ambiguous whether mankind survived FFVII).

They most likely didn't. If they did, the game put absolutely no weight into it

FFVI put no weight into Shadow's suicide in the good ending either, and FFIX into Vivi's death.

What kills the immersion for me, and I'm sorry for potentially ruining it for others, is the fact that a large scale battle/terrorist attack happened right next door to the point where scary military bots blockade the roadways.... and we have tourists gushing away commenting about the meteor and such in that one city square.

If they could have added some dialog pertaining to that atack, it would have been perfect.

There is, at the start of Chapter 2, there are four groups of NPCs (I think?) conveniently placed right around where Ignis parks the Regalia that you can interact to listen to them talking about it.

Four NPC's in the whole chapter, let alone game, talking about one of the most important events in their own world. Wow. In the Witcher 3 the evidence of the war between the North and Nilfgaard is ever present from the world design, to the quest design, to the way NPC's talk. In fact, it's usually the chief concern of most NPCs. The same goes for Inquisition and the Fade Breach.

There's some talk on the radios as well, regarding the situation in Lucis, and the dropships only start to appear after the invasion.

It's not a lot, though, you're definitely right about that. They could explore it some more.

There is sort of a reason people don't seem to care that much, though. As the game advances, the opinion on the empire starts to sour, but at first they don't seem to think things will change at all. Insomnia was protected behind its walls, but the rest of Lucis still had to deal with the daemons, the war and the scourge. The hunters are the most important organization beyond the walls of Insomnia, since they're the ones who will keep people safe.

Finally managed to convince myself to pick up the post game content....

Adamontoise is lvl 99?! And I only got 12 out of 14 friends???

One of the 14 friends is the old lady that gives you the key to all the bonus dungeons. You have to clear all of them if you want her to show up. I'm pretty sure it makes no difference other than getting some insignificant item though.

Ohh,

And for what its worth I nearly spit out my beer.

The photo I chose at the end of the game was a picture of cindy? the blond mechanic with huge tits. It was a chest up shot with her boobs as the focal point.

Then fucking noctis and luna lovingly stare at on their wedding day. I was litterally laughing out loud.

FUCKING HELL !!

Just beat adamantoise? I was level 53-55 it took GODDAMN AGES !!!!!

lol, when I asked, people told me to be around 65-70 to beat it in a descent timeframe, no wonder why it took long. :P

I'll be tackling it tonight, lvl 99 so it shouldn't be too hard, I assume.

Equip all the strength stuff you can find for Noctis (outfit, too), eat the "always crit hits" food before the battle, equip the Zwill Crossblades (from blacksmith questline), and it really shouldn't take you more than 10 or 15 minutes at level 99.

I went with the large party pic from Cape Caem for my first run so as not to ruin the final moment between Don Juan and Luna. Next time will be Cindy or Aranea, though heh.

Just dropping in to say this may be my favorite ending of a Final Fantasy game (maybe barring VII?). I need to find some discussions of it in this thread.

Shoulda taken the pic of the cup noodles with me

Just finished the story. Don't understand why so many people seem to dislike this game.

It's the cool thing to hate the new FF.

In all honestly, a lot of posters continue to have this vision of some grand Versus XIII storyline which that leaker posted but whose story remains completely unverified (and IMHO, way too dark and worse than what we got). Also, story sections and areas being cut and repackaged into DLC (which I believe is due to fans demanding the bros being playable, hence the need to have their own playable sections) is not winning favors with some fans.
