Ouch. Efficiency for gaming is really bad. On the other hand, it seems to outperform almost everything in other applications, but by a very very small margin... not enough for gen over gen gains.

HW Unboxed review of the 9950X



According to them, in the benchmarks they used, the average uplift from 5950X to 7050X was 52%. But from the 7950X to the 9950X it was.... 3%. Absolutely nuts. Zen 5 is a huge, HUGE flop.

Don't forget how people were criticising AMD for setting excessive power and thermal limits at the zen 4 launch. There were a bunch of reviewers going over how dropping power and heat resulted in very minimal performance losses. The same is true of Raptor Lake.

So.. what do you cpu experts expect from the x3d stuff? Will it be the best thing for a new hi end PC build? Or will Intel bounce back with a lot better performing stuff later this year?
(Asking cos i want a upgrade for my I9 12900k next year when getting the new 50-series Gpu)
