About to start this, should I do Normal or Hard mode? I've played a few Fire Emblem's and Advance Wars in the past.
You don't, you buy it from the in-game menu on the map screen. That then connects to the eshop and downloads the content.Ummmmm where do you go on the eshop to get the DLC?

Ok, this is hopefully my last moan, I've honestly enjoyed it otherwise.
Spoilers for after the final battle of act 4.
The Emperor wants to die by Alm's hands as it's the only peace he can imagine, has briefed his royal guard that this is his wish, but wants as few of his own men to die as possible. I'm down with all that. But, if so, why not lead the charge and go down fighting at the start? Why is he waiting as far away from the enemy as possible, ordering his men to attack the man he wants to kill him? I couldn't even get to him until he only had 4 men left!
Not to mention, he loves his son but has briefed his 2ic to only tell Alm afterwards. Knowing full well what that will do to him, the knowledge that he killed his father without knowing him.
Furthermore, that animation at the start of the game with the two of them fighting on the ramparts- in the battle Alm wants to know why the Emperor isn't fighting, but in the animation he certainly looks like he's making killing strikes to me.
For a series I love so much for the battles, the stories and the choices the characters make show little sense sometimes.
Ah, OK.That's strange, I only killed maybe two other enemies on that map, he, I didn't even have to abuse Warp. Is this different on Normal?charged straight at me
In fact I liked how the AI behavior intertwined with hidden intentions in that instance.
The animation at the start is nothing but a vision. Itdoesn't reflect the real circumstances of when the battle actually happens at all.
Ah, OK.I'm playing on normal classic, he just stood at his starting position until I got within movement range, while the Knights on the left charged. As I butchered them at the gate, him and his guards did absolutely nothing. That's cool that it matched up on your campaign though
I just forged a Brave Sword into a rapier, did I fuck up?
I just forged a Brave Sword into a rapier, did I fuck up?
Send it to Alm's route and your mercs there will make good use of it.
If you have a darkness sword you can forge it into a brave sword for 50 silver
i have quite a few myrmidons with Celica too but she also has a shadow sword and blessed sword too. So is it best not to upgrade the brave sword then?
The brave sword is great on both routes. The rapier is great on Alm's route (potentially better than the brave sword) because he fights a lot of cavaliers and armors. The rapier is kind of bad on Celica's route because she, well, doesn't fight many cavaliers/armors
Shadow sword isn't very good, upgrade it to brave immediately.
Awesome, thanks. Yea the only real special weapon I have so far on Alms side is Ridersbane and I gave that to Clair and she is wrecking house with it. I just got into a fight with like an army of cavaliers and she mowed them down like a bowling ball.
Is Celica's Dragon Shrine in Act 3 supposed to be difficult? I promoted Mae and Saber, but I stopped playing after they killed Boey.
This was my reaction as well.Celica's actions in Act IV:
Celica's actions in Act V:
When you realize the writing behind her character got worse in Echoes:
Actually she kept getting rescued by (Act 1-4 spoilers)Conrad.
What's worse is that those scenarios are all new additions.
at least as of where I'm at in Act 3: nothing will be hard if you remember Invoke exists. Is Celica's Dragon Shrine in Act 3 supposed to be difficult? I promoted Mae and Saber, but I stopped playing after they killed Boey.
I'm probably a little late to the discussion as I just got to the Duma tower but... Celica is a goddamn moron! Holy shit, how else did she expect that to go? I swear, up until now she was the one woman in the entire who we didn't need to rescue. This is getting silly.
Corrin's actions in Revelations:
Corrin's actions in Birthright:
When you realize the writing behind his/her character got worse in Conquest:
Just used Invoke for the first time...
Geez. That seems almost too cheap.
In past Fire Emblem games I never got into them, but in this one the healers are pretty rad.
Fixed.
Act 5 spoilers
I think seeing Mila A) gone and then later B) dead with the holy Deus ex Machina sword no longer usable left Celica shook, which is why she acted so bizarre during Acts 4 and 5. Notice that it's her faith in Mila and desire to see Alm that drive her in the earlier acts, and she pretty much loses the first one entirely and becomes obsessed with protecting the second at any cost. More so the Mila thing though, having your faith shattered like that would affect anyone.
This is true. Celica being dependent on Mila to the point where she loses all stability when Mila dies is a good plot point, and it did work for most of Act IV. The issue however, is that the writing during that segment is simply subpar. The player is never given any reason to agree or at least understand Celica's actions. Bad decisions are fine if the writing is strong enough to support it, but Mr Bad guy mcevil pants literally talks about plunging the world into disaster and chaos and Celica's 100% okay with that for some reason. She seemingly has this misguided belief that Mila will also be revived as well (she doesn't seem to mind that Jedah also wants to revive Duma), and Celica is SURPRISED when Jedah reveals she can't be revived (if Jedah wasn't like, the most obviously evil person who tried to kill her friends, then MAYBE this would be easier to swallow, but...) I think it would have been much better if it was explicitly made clear that both Dragons were going to be revived, and that reviving Duma alongside Mila would be a "necessary evil" that Celica would have to bear. Celica just doesn't question anything, and it changes her characterization from "hopeful naivety" into blatant plot induced stupidity. The game also throws away a legitimately touching moment like Conrad begging his sister not to throw her life away, rendering pointless (and yet another instance of her having to be saved). I was hoping for a heightened level of competence and defiance from Celica after that. But nah, she got damsel'd. Sheesh.
By the way, the scene in general is extremely wonky. Duma is an asshole, but rigid and structured, not the chaos indulging psychopath that Jedah wants, so why not just stick with the crazy God?
I made Gray a Merc, but what should I make Tobin, Faye, and Kliff into? What's their best upgrade?
They might have been able to get the sacrifice thing to sort of work if Jedah portrayed himself more as working against Rigel for the sake of reviving Duma and Mila - Celica knows that Rudolf himself led the charge against Mila, and thus has external confirmation of his agenda; that he'd threaten Duma as well is not a large logical leap. He'd appeal to her desire for balance - by sacrificing himself and Celica together, souls that have given themselves utterly to their respective deities, they would be able to revive both Duma and Mila - drawing a line between the rest of the Duma Faithful and Duma himself might also make the resurrection of Duma seem like something that would be appealing to her, to restore the order of the gods and purge those who have committed atrocities in their name.
Similarly, the cartoonishly evil design did work against the entire scenario - his original portrait was just stern and intimidating, not the avatar of all evil. Playing around with Nomah's recruitment might have helped as well - the game loves kidnapping plot devices, so maybe they could reveal he'd been captured by the Faithful at some point before the Temple of Mila, and then the encounter between Jedah and Celica in the swamp would involve him freeing Nomah as a show of goodwill, and to plant the idea that his goals differ from the rest of the Faithful and Rigel.
And maybe the thing with him showing her Alm's suffering could be framed more as a 'neither of us can do anything to help him, but Mila's power can save his life' thing; rather than just an empty assurance that he'll be spared.
Archer, Cleric and Mage; usually.
More like took away the feeling from it and made it worse.Fixed.
Any suggestions on how to use the first fountain in Celicas route? It's speed and attack and i don't want to waste it on the first 4 characters if there is a smarter option
Alright, I've spent six fucking hours resetting (Act 4). Please tell me there's a way to cheese this, as I am so done.Nuibaba
warp Alm in+Double Lion the boss+rescue out
if you didn't do Cleric Faye, uh....Bow Knight poke?
not to get too off topic but I don't think Corrin was dumb in Birthright really. The plot was not great by any means but it was the least dumb, at least, and he realizes fighting a war means he has to kill people.Fixed.
Long live Emperor Albein Alm Rudolf, one of the best FE lords
