Sword breaker is great on Nowi for Arena since Marth and Lucinas are super common. She can actually fight back.

And I feel like I am taking crazy pills for considering a +hp/-spd Nowi over a +def/-res Nowi. The former makes her stronger against mages which is the real benefit of her weapo, and against a neutral field wins more battles and losses less. Quick Riposte almost completely negates the negatives of losing speed. In fact in the case of Nowi equipping her with moonbow she benefits from being doubled. As you said big whoop if you are at 23 speed vs 27. Either way you are getting doubled by all the popular units, might as well embrace it.
Gave a Blarblade+ to Linde, goodbye feathers. First match I do, she ends up separated from the group and their Eirika lives with exactly 1 HP (blarblade has 1 less mt than aura). Didn't affect the match at all, just thought it was funny.
It's map dependent - I wish arena was always like that. At least now we can swap positions before the match. It's extremely important to get 1 kill right off the bat, untangling a group of enemies can be very risky especially with a dancer in there.

I've got Hector for that role now and 90% of the time I need to have him eat a hit from a green mage to start fights. Decided to spend a bit on blue for this new banner, take a chance at the banners with a prayer at Ninian or Azura. Cut myself off after about 50 orbs, but did land both a 4 and 5 star version of Nowi. I was more looking for Reinhardt, but I don't want to spend anymore orbs in hopes of splurging for a specific character on a future banner.
Thinking of promoting and merging together. 4 star is +spd -atk, 5 star is -hp + atk, so I was thinking of speed taking the lead, although I see others have different thoughts on this very page. Obviously neither is the ideal IV.
I could alternatively promote a +spd Nino and merge my neutral Nino into her.

People say that Hana sucks but she just looks very glass cannoney to me. Not bad in a vacuum but probably just pales in comparison to other red swords? She could probably do something similar as Quadsuna thanks to high attack and speed.
Or maybe I can put Wings of Mercy on her for a Troll Hana on my defense team. Having her pop up and oneshot people seems like a good way to go.

A slot is probably either TA or Fury.

I would definitely not promote a -atk Nowi. +spd and merged, with fury, can get like 34 speed or so which could be pretty good if you've got a hone speed around. Unexpectedly fast merged units have caused me some real problems in arena, particularly 36 speed Julias. But I wouldn't give up attack for that.
I think Hana is one of those units where perception of her default skill set has affected what people think of her post-inheritance. In particular if you can afford to get rid of her shitty armorslayer you can make her really scary.
Life and Death is probably better in most situations, but sometimes that extra bulk Death Blow affords can save her life. I find with Death Blow 3, she doesn't need to double to OHKO most infantry anyway and the horses/pegasi/dragons she can usually double with a +spd nature. I think the higher in the arena you go, the more Life and Death is going to matter in terms of doubling units.

I feel like Fury 3 Eirikas give me the most problems. She's resilient and fast enough that even Linde can't consistently kill her without buffs. And if she's running around being a buffbot, she's not draining her own health.
I don't have any TA to work with at all personally. It's part of why I'm looking forward to a good red banner.

I actually have a 4* + Atk -Res version.
Without a speed bane and maybe with hone speed, Nowi sits at a fairly comfortable 30-34ish speed that probably won't let her double most people (though I think she hard counters Ephriam at that speed), but it makes it hard to double her. It helps make her tankier.
I agree about Hana. The sword is the main problem with her. If she had Brave Sword+, Wings of Mercy, and then kept the Rally Attack, then she could hang around back buffing teammates until someone gets low, and then she turns into Surprise Motherfucker Hana.
It would even work well with AI on defense, considering how much it loves to use rally skills. Glass cannons are hard to deal with when they keep hanging behind tough characters.

3 Reinhardts won't get you high scores but will give headaches to others.
I have enjoyed being a few Reinhardt users but I see more and more of him now. I don't like the trend as people will start putting more counter units to him.

That's the same spread as mine, and the generally agreed upon best nature for him. Obviously I'm a bit biased as he's my favourite FE character, but if you want to use him, you've got a great start right there.
With a Brave Axe+ and some nice inherentence skills, he is a force of nature, particularly in such a blue heavy meta we have currently. (His default Hammer+ works well in the interim too.) Mages will still blow him out of the water, but his movement means he can usually snipe them first, and if you slap Drag Back on him, all the better.

If I didn't have an ultra buffed hector with all his inheritances I'd be more willing to Invest in him.
Completely forgot about that, yeah my Nowi is +DEF -HP so leaning toward TA and QR.
Yes that could be good, although in my arena runs, I barely see more than one red unit in a team. It's certainly a blue/green fest now.

Finally my first no death Arena run, all while dragging Navarre along. I don't think he attacked anyone the entire time. Basically a seven map escort mission.
That's understandable, though I don't personally think Hector and Frederick cover too many of the same bases. Frederick's #1 appeal IMO is his great movement in tandem with his crazy high ATK. (Highest of all melee Cavalry units.) In that case I'd set both those Fredericks to the side for future consideration.
Got a 4810 for a perfect run. Mostly nothing too bad, last map was that god forsaken double walls map but their team wasn't too bad. Faye is not threatening at all to my team, I could double their Eirika with Linde and their Eldigan had very little inherited stuff so Lucina could take him.
I guess that +5 casters squad I ran into the other day was a fluke of the matchmaking. Here's hoping next week goes well.

I am so torn on what to do with Nowi. At first I thought +def/-Res was the better option but now +hp/-Spd looks better because of increased resistance to mages.
I'm not sure if -spd is okay for Nowi. If you're building her with QR, she doesn't need the speed to double herself, but you don't want her to get doubled too easily either. If someone attacked you and you're relying on QR to kill, then you'll eat two hits from the enemy before Nowi lands her second hit to finish, right? That might hurt a lot or kill her. Getting doubled by fast units is a given, but you don't want the average speed units to double too. Getting doubled too easily is one of the reasons why ATiki is bad, after all.
The nice thing with Nowi though is that she's very versatile in terms of SI build options. So maybe one of your natures might be better for aggressive builds rather than defensive builds.

How about -spd/+def Nowi? I've been sitting on her as she's -spd...
Hmm. My Eirika is +def/-res, so maybe Fury 3 will get her out of the def danger zone and make her hell for mages/dragons to take down.
I think it depends on the rest of your team and skills. Obviously Nowi should not be tanking green mages, and she'll probably be just fine against red mages regardless (even better with TA). Are you anticipating her tanking blue mages or do you have another out for her? I would hesitate dropping her speed down though. That's a difference of 4 which is putting her further into double range.

Guess if I really tried I could get Nowi to 35 speed after SI and buffs and a sacred seal thus negating double attacks from the field unless they are buffed or +Spd with an skill that increases it. Too bad I don't have a Fury 3 or speed 3 available. May just continue building with the +def/-Res with Fury 2 for now. I was just assuming everyone I run into in arena will be at 40+ speed when really most are in the 33-37 range.
Edit: Decision gets way easier if they ever put out a Hone dragons skill.
I have been pleasantly surprised with Lukas. I pulled him (Neutral IV) and figured he'd be my arena bonus but didn't expect too much. Budget SI to get Bonfire onto him and he's basically a shutout to all physical damage currently. Including greens. I wish QR was cheaper to get rank 3 of since his bulk can actually make use of the extra 10% threshold; he replaced my Nowi for this arena round so I just tossed Seal Res on him since I figured he'd wall, not kill, and I wanted to replicate Nowi's Threaten Res but he's sniped a lot of kills with 43 ATK + 22 damage Bonfires every engagement. Granted, he's basically paper when it comes to mages ... but I was running him in my Mage team of Sanaki, Julia, and Linde. Any of them can bait a magic hit in his place. It's basically a treat watching him get quaded for 0 or smack an Effie for 30 damage.
@Nowi - I've had a -SPD/+RES Nowi since forever and the amount of negative matchups (that is, she dies to) are pretty small due to the -SPD. She gains an extra set of 5 or so losses over any other negative defensive stat, most of which are greens that beat her anyway. It is basically why I went TA3/QR3 for her, though, since losing more vs greens is hardly a concern. Though if I ever have the opportunity to make her into a +ATK/-RES version, I totally would but I think she mostly gains non-meta losses.
My experience with Lukas in place of Nowi though has made for wanting to try a Lukas, Nowi, Kagero, Sanaki | Julia (since Tharja and Nino don't fucking exist) composition though. If only as a change of pace from my all mage all the time setup.

I think if you have a decent blue mage and a dancer the GHB is fairly easy. The right red mage can be baited by a blue mage without repercussion.
I promoted a +HP/-Atk Nowi despite knowing it's a terrible nature. This has paid off now because I pulled a +Atk/-Def one and could merge all the learned skills into the new one. This is why I think it's not too bad to invest in suboptimal nature units in the long run. The new merge mechanics almost entirely mitigate any downsides.

I was hoping as I like using threaten skills. But, I don't even have a Nino... so whatever
I mean, they are good skills but they depend on your enemy's position rather than what you can control: your own. Only tanks who deliberately get hit can really use them well.

Lost one unit and got 4682. Don't think I wanna top that without a steady stream of dueling swords. Starting to run low

I get about ~680 each Arena fight. So I top out at around 4760.

Been sticking to my plan of pulling on every banner once (20 orbs), and this time it gave me... a 5* Frederick. He's been pretty cool in Awakening so far, so I'm pretty happy (though slightly too late since I levelled up my 4* version of him to 40 already). Seems to be +Att -HP, so not too bad. I'm kinda overloaded with axes though now, really lacking sword units.
Looks pretty shit to me.
Spent like 80 orbs in the world of shadows banner trying to get a new hero but only got Ogma and my chances went back to 3% so I'm done with that banner. So I was left with a pitiful count of 11 orbs and thought "eh what the heck lets snipe two blues from the GHB banner" and one of them gave me Nowi and saved me 20k feathers.
