if you need a red sword badly, then the lucina/eirika one is a great choice if you ONLY pick red orbs. If you need a green or a blue there will be a very good one with Nino/Effie up soon (I assumed it'd be today but it wasn't).

Was on Elise's team then switched to Lucina's. No sympathy. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
I not only did that but right now I'm almost done getting my 3* Sully to 40. She works very similar to Narcian, sapphire lance with swordbreaker. Mine is -def +spd which kind of sucks but she can kill mages better than Narcian.
It's funny because I have a huge variety of characters, many 4* and level 20-30. Of course none of those ever get picked as the bonus. I dunno about Ursula...my Robin is the backbone of my team, but I'm learning this week just how much it sucks ass to not have Olivia in arena. At this rate I'm going to make her 5*, she has an open A slot for Fury which will be awesome on a dancer. Azura would be better but I'm not betting on ever finding her.

Damn, Chrom and Ephriam are pretty close. And by "close" I mean they're around 30 million points apart from each other out of like ~300 million on each side. The game is saying "same" for both of them.
One advantage of this popularity contest thing though is that you get to try out units that you don't have. It looks like some of my friends run Linde, which is a unit I really want but don't have. But thanks to these duels, I get to play with her every now and then.
She really wrecks face. It's great.

I would go for Kagero or Nino. All depends on the rest of the team, though.
Kagero's supposed to be very good (her weapon is good against all infantry units, and there's a lot of those), she is probably a good candidate for promoting. Of course, check her IVs first though so that you don't have something terrible with her, lol.

I got a hector from someone and got a armored ally kill towards the normal March goal because I don't have an armored unit on that account. Give me again!!!!
Depends on the rest of the team, but probably either Nino or Kagero. Kagero does a ton of damage to most units because anyone on foot counts as infantry, which includes dragons (!). She's a glass cannon.
Nino is good if you have other units to stat buff her tome, plus her draw back skill is really useful.
Olivia shouldn't be promoted because she has all her support skills at 4*. The only thing she gets at 5* is a better sword, and she rarely fights anyway.
Depends on the rest of your team (if you need a red swordsperson or not), but I would go with either Nino (she's the best green tome user) or Kagero (wrecks most infantry units, but can't take a hit).
Got a few more orbs after spending 100+ fishing for Lucina, so I pulled red one more time.
And got 5* Ryoma. Not too shabby. That's my fourth 5* overall, having collected all possible orbs from day one: Robin, Raven, Eirika, and Ryoma. It's clear that my feathers should go towards upping my 4* Nino, barring skill swapping.

if anything I see Nino getting even better with skill swapping, since you could load up your team with buffs of various types.
But yeah, I'm hoarding feathers for now.

Who is the overall best choice to pump to 5*s? Corrin (F), Robin or Cordelia?
If the Robin you're referring to is Robin(M), then go with Robin(M). He's a great answer to Takumi. Corrin(F) is also a decent DEF tank, but has pretty bad attack.
Finally upped my 4* Kagero (-ATK/+SPD) to 5*. Not a terrible nature since speed is great, but I could wish for -RES or something instead. oh well at least it isn't -HP.
She does do a lot of work though so making her a 5 along with my Erika that I'm leveling makes good sense.

I go in with blue Tome users to counter all the reds. Most people are putting forth their reds, so I never run one of my own.

Got tired of bullshit like that so now I go in with a level 1 and face a bunch of low levels with a level 40 friend on my side. I never get the bonus for using the character of my army but I never lose either.

Luna plus passive self heal.
- Exceptional stats. 50 Strength and 36 Speed is amazing
- Falchion (slays Dragons, self heals, strong as heck)
- Luna (one of the best specials in the game, cuts through defenses like it's paper)
- Spur Attack is a nice passive
95% of my gauntlets battles have been red opponents, so running a blue I pretty much dominate. Most of my friends list is pretty versatile too, so I get some added assistance in coverage that way.
I kind of assumed given most of the prince/princesses are red that using blue would be a good choice. Haven't been proven wrong yet.
Basically this. Characters in this game are just stats and skills. She has an incredible offensive stat distribution and then she has Spur Atk 3, Renewal 2, and can 1v1 blue dragons, along with one of the best special attacks which she can charge after one round of combat. Most characters don't have nearly as good of a stat distribution and will have maybe 1 good skill and then maybe a decent special.

Plus speed is the best with attack behind it.
Minus res, def or HP are fine.
Minus SPD or ATK is the worst.

After reading about Lucina here I got excited and tried to see if I could get her from the summoning event four pulls later I got Takumi +ATK -RES good stuff.

Yeah, I'd have to pump in a ton of flags just to get another 200 feathers. I'll just wait for another arena season instead.
Looking forward to how the Ursula map is going to wreck me, and the upcoming clusterfuck that is skill inheritance.

Did the training tower get way harder recently? I had no problem leveling several character to 40, but now not only do the high up stratum give very little XP the enemies have unnaturally high stats, and skills they shouldn't.
I need to look into but I think there was a notification in game for some of the flags I got that stated the flags were only good for the March Gauntlet. Might want to check for yourself, but if true you would be better to use them all this gauntlet than to let them go to waste.

A whopping two mages (Leo, Cecilia) are immune to Kagero's Poison Daggers due to being mounted. She can fight Leo easily despite that. Cecilia on the other hand will give her trouble as her colorless advantage sets up a one-shot against a -Res Kagero. Not the worst trade when a) Cecilia's a really uncommon matchup and b) +Spd means even more infantry Kagero can double and kill.
Edit: Oh, there's also Olwen and Reinhardt. Olwen's not a big threat. Reinhardt though Kagero absolutely cannot take on enemy phase.

Reinhardt (mounted blue mage) also destroys Kagero. I can see him becoming much more common thanks to having a brave blue tome in a see of red units, and I've been able to use him to one shot Takumi as well without taking any damage.
I guess I'm gonna have to bring my -spd +res 4* Camilla out of storage to deal with Ursula, I don't have anyone that can kill a blue mage on my 40 team and that's all she's good for.
Managed a 7 streak in arena with 3* Sully and Lucina but neither were max level, as a trial run. Sully's Draw Back was actually quite useful, she is very fragile but she managed a few kills. Sully will be 40 soon so hopefully I can get above 4200 rating at least. The insane thing is even with a 3* sub-40 on my team I ended up against full 5*, level 40 teams with shit like a +1 Lucina. Should be impossible considering my own team aside from Sully is a Lucina and two mages.
1000 flags saved up, shouldn't have burned 100 in the first round but I wanted to see how I'd stack up in the rankings. The final round will take place on the weekend so I'll be able to pop back in every 30 minutes if necessary so hopefully a 100k score can get me something. It's funny how the matches have gotten a lot harder as Lucina has gone up in levels, but I actually like the 3v3 with random units setup. It's been rare that I get an impossible matchup, I often get a second Lucina on my team but she is so overwhelmingly OP that she can brute force some bad matchups. My friends list unit is almost always a Fae or Julia so that works out.

Oh I don't mean the next gauntlet, I mean the next arena season. What I meant was I would rather wait to get more arena feathers than bust my butt trying to rank up in the current gauntlet just to get another 200.
I'll still use all my gauntlet flags, my ranking game just sucks and will remain that way.

It was a 2v2 split map where one pairing was Linde + Kagero. I couldn't get close to that pair without losing units, so they just totally wasted me.
every week until now I've had tons of successful defenses, hell last week I had some not even an hour after the reset. But now I even have a better red unit (Lucina vs my -atk Lyn) and nothing yet. Don't really have much I could switch out that I think would perform better, I assumed my Robin/Olivia combination was getting me defenses before.

I'm now tempted to upgrade my kagero to do just this. Though I guess with Takumi it also works like I currently have it.
Honestly, mass ranged teams or teams that are built to support some super strong ranged unit are what I fear the most.
One team I ran into was YTiki, Linde, MRobin and Takumi. On a forest map where it was hard to rush into people. Like, what do you even do against that?
I also just lost today to a team that had a throwaway character, then a Linde escorted by two Ephriams. Since they were all blue, they just stuck together buffing each other, and I couldn't get past the Ephriams to hit Linde before getting wrecked.

Hm, as I've been training both Hinata and Arthur recently -- Hinata for Fury, Arthur because he's awesome (just not as a unit) -- I've been tossing around the idea of rolling an all-gem weapon / triangle-adept team. It's been working out surprisingly well for me so far. May as well try it in the arena. lol

Honestly, there are so many permutations based on the map being played, deployment, the buffs in play and the synergies between both yours and the enemy team. The advantage of a unit's nature against a handful of specific opponents out of the dozens of possibilities, in the unlikely event of a 1v1 match-up with you both at max health and max level and no other units buffing/debuffing or threatening to join in, really isn't worth worrying about. Especially when the odds of you getting a specific unit in the first place are hard enough. If you're lucky enough to have doubles of good units, yeah, go speed and attack, but I'd just make do and enjoy what you've got. More units will be along on a regular basis and the meta will change with them, sending others to the top of the pile, and it's possible to spend £100 and get rubbish. Theorying stuff out is fun though, my inner wargamer approves
